      • Ultrasound Assisted Green Synthesis of Silver and Iron Oxide Nanoparticles Using Fenugreek Seed Extract and Their Enhanced Antibacterial and Antioxidant Activities

Deshmukh, Aarti R.,Gupta, Arvind,Kim, Beom Soo Hindawi 2019 BioMed research international Vol.2019 No.-

<P>This study reports a facile and ecofriendly approach for the ultrasound assisted synthesis of silver and iron oxide nanoparticles and their enhanced antibacterial and antioxidant activities. The fenugreek seed extract was used as reducing, capping, and stabilizing agent in the synthesis of nanoparticles. The transmission electron microscopy results showed that nanoparticles synthesized by ultrasonication have a smaller size (~20 nm) as compared to the nanoparticles fabricated by magnetic stirring (~40 nm). The color change of the solution from milky white to brown suggested the formation of silver nanoparticles which was confirmed by the presence of an absorbance peak at 396 nm. The results of powder X-ray diffraction and energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy confirmed the crystallinity and elements present in nanoparticles synthesized using fenugreek seed extract. Fourier transform infrared analysis showed that the fenugreek seed phytochemicals were coated on the nanoparticle surface. Thermal gravimetric analysis showed the thermal degradation and stability of nanoparticles. Magnetization study of iron oxide nanoparticles confirmed the superparamagnetic nature. The silver nanoparticles showed antibacterial activities against both gram-negative (<I>Escherichia coli</I>) and gram-positive (<I>Staphylococcus aureus</I>) bacteria, while no antibacterial activities were observed for iron oxide nanoparticles. The ultrasound assisted nanoparticles showed higher stability and antibacterial and antioxidant activity compared with the nanoparticles fabricated by magnetic stirring.</P>

Evaluation of transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation as an adjunct therapy in trigeminal neuralgia - a randomized double-blind placebo-controlled clinical study

Bisla, Suman,Gupta, Ambika,Agarwal, Shalini,Singh, Harneet,Sehrawat, Ankita,Singh, Aarti The Korean Dental Society of Anesthsiology 2021 Journal of Dental Anesthesia and Pain Medicine Vol.21 No.6

Background: Trigeminal neuralgia (TN) is a severe form of pain that affects the daily activities of a patient. Transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation (TENS) therapy is an emerging option for the treatment of acute and chronic pain. The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of TENS therapy as an adjunct to drug therapy for the treatment of TN. Methods: A total of 52 patients diagnosed with TN according to the International Classification of Headache Disorders (version 3) were included. Each patient was randomized to either the TENS or placebo TENS groups. Intervention was given in continuous mode and 100-Hz frequency for 20 mins biweekly for 6 weeks. Parameters were measured at baseline, TENS completion and 3 months, 6 months, and 1 year of follow up. The parameters observed were mean carbamazepine dose, mean visual analog scale (VAS) score, mean present pain intensity (PPI) score, and functional outcome. Non-parametric analyses, one-way ANOVA and the Kruskal-Wallis test were applied for intragroup comparisons, while the Mann-Whitney U test and independent t-test were used for intergroup comparisons of variables. The chi-square test was applied to analyze categorical data. Results: Compared to the placebo TENS group, the mean dose of carbamazepine in the TENS group was significantly reduced at TENS completion, as well as at 6 months and 1 year follow up. Changes in mean VAS score, mean PPI score, and functional outcome did not show significant differences between the groups (P>0.05). Conclusion: TENS therapy does not lead to any changes in pain levels but it may reduce the mean dose of carbamazepine when used as an adjunct treatment in patients with TN.

The current approach to the diagnosis of vascular anomalies of the head and neck: A pictorial essay

        Goel, Sinny,Gupta, Swati,Singh, Aarti,Prakash, Anjali,Ghosh, Sujoy,Narang, Poonam,Gupta, Sunita Korean Academy of Oral and Maxillofacial Radiology 2015 Imaging Science in Dentistry Vol.45 No.2

Throughout the years, various classifications have evolved for the diagnosis of vascular anomalies. However, it remains difficult to classify a number of such lesions. Because all hemangiomas were previously considered to involute, if a lesion with imaging and clinical characteristics of hemangioma does not involute, then there is no subclass in which to classify such a lesion, as reported in one of our cases. The recent classification proposed by the International Society for the Study of Vascular Anomalies (ISSVA, 2014) has solved this problem by including non-involuting and partially involuting hemangioma in the classification. We present here five cases of vascular anomalies and discuss their diagnosis in accordance with the ISSVA (2014) classification. A non-involuting lesion should not always be diagnosed as a vascular malformation. A non-involuting lesion can be either a hemangioma or a vascular malformation depending upon its clinicopathologic and imaging characteristics.

Quantum Information Entropy and Entropy Squeezing of Isospectral Modified Hylleraas Plus Exponential Rosen Morse Potential and Isospectral Eckart Potential

        Pooja Thakur,Rama Gupta,Aarti Sharma,Anil Kumar 한국물리학회 2020 새물리 Vol.70 No.9

We have numerically evaluated the position space and momentum space information entropy of the isospectral Modified Hylleraas plus exponential Rosen Morse potential and established that each level can be re-arranged as a function of the deformation parameter. The information densities of this potential have been graphically demonstrated and their properties thoroughly analyzed. An asymmetric shape dependence on the values of quantum number (n; l) is observed for the position space information densities. The characteristic features of the information entropy in position and momentum space have been analyzed, and the lower bound of the sum of the entropies, expressed by using the Bialynicki-Birula and Mycielski inequality is satisfied. Compared to undeformed potential exhibiting squeezing phenomena in momentum space only the information entropy squeezing has been realized for position space, as well as momentum space, as a function of the deformation parameter with the choice of the same set of parameters. Interestingly, squeezed coherent states are obtained for the isospectral Eckart potential.

The consolidation of deep tube well technology in safe drinking water provision: the case of arsenic mitigation in rural Bangladesh

Debasish Kumar Kundu,Bas J.M. van Vliet,Aarti Gupta 기술경영경제학회 2016 ASIAN JOURNAL OF TECHNOLOGY INNOVATION Vol.24 No.2

This paper explains why and how deep tube well as a safe drinking water technology hasbecome dominant in mitigating the arsenic crisis in rural Bangladesh. We do so by applyinginsights from the Multi-Level Perspective on transitions in explaining changes in the safesocio-technical drinking water regime in rural Bangladesh. Data about seven dimensions ofregime change were gathered from key actors through in-depth interviews, focus groupssessions, a survey, and a workshop. The findings reveal that with the introduction of deeptube well as an arsenic mitigation technology, the observed changes in the seven dimensionshelp to transform the existing safe drinking water regime in order to re-stabilise it. Technological attributes, symbolic meaning, industry structures, and techno-scientificknowledge have supported an evolving dominance of the deep tube well. Besides, userpractices as well as related infrastructures have adapted to the use of deep tube wells, andnew policies stimulated its application. We argue that the dimensions of the technologychange in the existing regime are consistent with the features of incremental innovation. Byoffering such insights, we show the relevance of the Multi-Level Perspective on transitionsto analyse socio-technical innovation in a developing world context.
