Purpose – Supply chain disruptions have dominated business planning and performance since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic and continue to mar organizations through 2022. This research carefully examines the role of organizational culture in developing both supply chain resilience and market performance amid supply chain disruptions. Design/Methodology/Approach – An empirical study of over 200 South Korean firms were tested. The model is tested using PLS-SEM; furthermore, mediation effects enrich the quality of the findings. This research is framed utilizing the stimulus-organism-response model; thus, emphasizing the highly dynamic business environment that has ensued. Findings – The research confirms that supply chain disruption orientation, a strategic orientation and a proxy for a well-prepared organizational culture, leads to both supply chain resilience and market performance. Results also confirm that resilience reinforces market performance throughout the supply chain. Study contributions suggest that firms should consider themselves as organisms within a highly dynamic environment and develop a highly prepared organizational culture in order to bolster supply chain resilience and market performance. Research Implications – Scholars can further employ the stimulus-organism-response model in firm-level research and further study the link between organizational culture and supply chain performance amid COVID-19. Finally, the results of this research provide guidelines for organizations when they decide on operational procedures during the pandemic, as they aim to produce greater returns for their ventures.

Purpose - Supply chain disruptions have plagued firms since the advent of COVID-19 lockdowns. As a result, supply chains remain unstable and dynamic. To better understand supply chain management during periods of disruption, this study compares the impact of relational capital on ambidextrous innovation and firm performance between Korean and U.S firms. Design/Methodology/Approach - This study includes a sample of 200 Korean firms and 227 U.S firms. PLS-SEM is the statistical tool utilized with MICOM multigroup analysis. Findings - Korean and U.S. firms were found to be different on three different pathways indicating that open innovation and investment in supplier relations improve supply chain disruption orientation, exploration innovation, and firm performance Research Implications - Relationship capital can significantly improve supply chain management, innovation, and firm performance. Exploitation innovation is better for enhancing supply chain management in the short-term amid interruptions.
The Universal Tendency for Renewal among Grammatical Expressions for Anterior and Related Aspect
Aaron Smith 세종대학교 언어연구소 2006 Journal of Universal Language Vol.7 No.2
This study investigates the synchronic distribution of grammatical expressions (grams) along the path of grammaticization for anterior and diachronically related senses. I use the synchronic distribution of these grams as a means of inferring their diachronic behavior, particularly in terms of renewal, defined as the refilling of a given semantic domain in the on-going process of grammaticization. The data support the hypothesis that there is a robust tendency for renewal among grams expressing anterior and related senses and therefore suggests certain stability in the shape of tense/aspect systems in the languages of the world, at least for this set of grams.
Manchu Script Letters Dataset Creation and Labeling
Aaron Daniel Snowberger,Choong Ho Lee 한국정보통신학회JICCE 2024 Journal of information and communication convergen Vol.22 No.1
The Manchu language holds historical significance, but a complete dataset of Manchu script letters for training optical character recognition machine-learning models is currently unavailable. Therefore, this paper describes the process of creating a robust dataset of extracted Manchu script letters. Rather than performing automatic letter segmentation based on whitespace or the thickness of the central word stem, an image of the Manchu script was manually inspected, and one copy of the desired letter was selected as a region of interest. This selected region of interest was used as a template to match all other occurrences of the same letter within the Manchu script image. Although the dataset in this study contained only 4,000 images of five Manchu script letters, these letters were collected from twenty-eight writing styles. A full dataset of Manchu letters is expected to be obtained through this process. The collected dataset was normalized and trained using a simple convolutional neural network to verify its effectiveness.
A Note on Trans-historical Melodic Originality Trends in Classical Music
Aaron Kozbelt,Daniel Meredith 대한사고개발학회 2010 The International Journal of Creativity & Problem Vol.20 No.2
The originality of a musical melody can be operationalized by computing transition probabilities between adjacent notes, relative to the transition base rates in a population of melodies. Previous research has examined how melodic originality, so defined, varied trans-historically between 1500 and 1950 – with the finding of a largely linear increase, though with a temporary drop around 1800. Several analytical issues with such data are identified, including the highly skewed distribution of composer output, intrinsically diminished originality among prolific but stylistically consistent composers, and the complex and inconsistent nesting of possible control variables. A trans-historical analysis of the melodic originality of 16,296 musical themes, using controls like number of composers and unevenness of output across composers in different time intervals, revealed substantial effects on average melodic originality and reduced the subsequent effects of calendar year. In a stepwise regression, calendar year quadratic and number of composers active in each interval each positively predicted average melodic originality. Implications for trans-historical theories of creativity are discussed.
