        김제 지역 한우 송아지의 크립토스포리듐, 지알디아 발생 현황

        This study was performed to identify the prevalence of cryptosporidiosis and giardiasis in diarrhea feces of Korean native calves raised in Gimje, Jeollabuk-do, with a rapid diagnostic kit. The prevalence of both diseases were classified according to the age of calf, season of sampling period, and sampled farm where diarrheic calf is commonly observed. In diarrhea feces of 431 calves, cryptosporidiosis had a high incidence rate between 1 and 3 weeks of age, whereas giardiasis showed a high incidence between 4 and 6 weeks of age. It is thought that the incidence of protozoan diseases is markedly influenced by the calf’s postnatal age. Regarding with the sampling season, the prevalence of cryptosporidiosis and giardiasis in calves was significantly higher in spring and summer than in autumn and winter (P<0.05). Among the sampled farms where both diseases are commonly observed, cryptosporidiosis was more frequently detected than giardiasis in calves. Particularly, in farms where cryptosporidiosis is common, it tends to be a disease that is difficult to eradicate as it occurs continuously throughout the year. Hygiene management such as regular cleaning and disinfection of the livestock and the surrounding environments is considered necessary to reduce and prevent damage from these protozoal diseases.

        국내 반려견의 품종에 따른 혈구 및 생화학 수치 비교 연구

        Hematological and serum biochemical analyses are routinely used to screen dogs for disease and monitor their clinical progression. These values in dogs may be affected by internal factors, such as breed and age, and external factors like environment, diet, and lifestyle. Apparently, subclinical breed-related variations in hematologic and serum biochemical results have been characterized for Bernese Mountain dogs, Alaskan Malamutes, English Setters, and Golden Retrievers. It is possible that some breed-related differences in clinical pathology analyses may reflect evidence of underlying disease and impact clinical decision plan. In this study, we estimated hematologic and serum biochemical parameters in small breed dogs and compared among four different breed dogs. Blood samples were collected from 38 domestic dogs that were 10 Beagles, 9 Malteses, 10 Poodles, and 9 Miniature Schnauzers. In terms of RBC count, Beagle (7.2±0.24×10<sup>3</sup> cells/ L) showed significantly (P<0.05) higher count than other breeds (Maltese, 6.51±0.25×10<sup>3</sup> cells/ L; Poodle, 6.35±0.24×10<sup>3</sup> cells/ L; and Miniature Schnauzer, 6.35±0.25×10<sup>3</sup> cells/ L). For MCV, Miniature Schnauzer (67.05±0.84 fl) results were significantly (P<0.05) higher than Beagle with 64.33±0.8 fl. For cholesterol value, Beagle (163.3±9.15 mg/dl) had significantly (P<0.05) higher values than Miniature Schnauzer with 119.12±9.64 mg/dl. There was no statistically difference among breeds in terms of enzyme markers of liver diseases. In conclusion, data obtained from this study may be valuable as breed-related variability for interpretation of the results in hematologic and serum biochemical analysis among four small breed dogs.

        단위가축영양 : Miniature Poodle에 있어서 현미 함유사료의 영양소 소화율 및 배설 분 특성

        본 연구는 반려견 사료 내 주요 탄수화물원인 밀가루 (원물기준 약 51%)를 현미로 15%, 30% 대체 급여하였을 때, 사료의 소화율 및 배설 분의 특성 변화를 조사하기 위하여 Miniature Poodle (8~9개월령, 평균 3.5kg) 6마리를 이용 반복 3 × 3 라틴방각법에 따라 실험을 수행하였다. 건물 섭취량과 유기물섭취량이 현미수준 증가에 따라 linear하게 감소 (P<0.05)되었는데, 총에너지 섭취량은 15%구에서 가장 낮은 quadratic 효과 (P=0.07)가 나타났다. 현미 대체에 의해 건물, 유기물, 조단백질, 산분해 지방, 에너지 소화율 이 linear (P<0.05)하게 증가하였다. 사료의 가소화에너지 및 대사 에너지 농도 (kcal/kg DM)도 현미 대체 비율이 증가하면서 linear 하게 증가 (P<0.001, P=0.007)하였다. 생분 배설량과 건조 분량도 모두 linear(P=0.001)하게 감소하였다. 분 score도 linear하게 감소 (P<0.05)하게 감소하였지만, 분 암모니아 농도는 현미대체 비율이 증가 할수록 linear하게 증가 (P<0.05)하였다. 분 암모니아 증가는 linear하게 감소 (P<0.01)한 short?chain fatty acid 농도와도 관계 가 있을 것으로 판단된다. 본 실험의 결과, 현미급여가 반려견의 소화율과 배설 분의 특성을 개선해 주는 것으로 나타났다. In this experiment, two inclusion levels (15 and 30% of diets, as-fed basis) of brown rice (BR) were tested against a control diet with 0% BR (51% wheat flour of diet). Six female Miniature Poodles (8~9 months age, initial mean body weight of 3.5 kg) were assigned to treatments in replicated 3×3 Latin square design. Total tract digestibilities of DM, OM, CP, acid hydrolyzed fat and gross energy increased linearly (P<0.05), and observed digestible energy and metabolizable energy values also increased linearly (P<0.001 and P=0.007, respectively) with increasing BR inclusion levels. Wet and dry fecal output decreased linearly (P=0.001) with increasing BR inclusion levels in the diets. Linear (P<0.05) effects was observed in fecal score for dogs fed BR and fecal ammonia concentration increased linearly (P<0.05) in response to increasing BR inclusion level. It seems that the increase in fecal ammonia concentration may be partially related to the decrease in short-chain fatty acid concentration (P<0.01). This study clearly demonstrates that BR improves nutrients digestibility and fecal characteristics of dog.
