As one of the fundamental studies for the breeding of marine algae, this paper deals with the effects of plant hormone on the growth of microscopic filamentous gametophyte of undaria pinnatifida. The results obtained are summarized as follows: (1) All zoospores were settled on slide glass, germinated and developed into gametophytes, without the growth of germination tubes when treated with 0.1 mg/ℓ of 2.4-D, or 0.1, 1.0 or 5.0 mg/ℓ of keinetin (2) The best growth effect in total average was observed at 0.1 mg/ℓ of Keinetin, when the growth-rate was 248.9% in contrast with control, and was followed by 1.0 mg/ℓ of IAA (243.3%), and 0.05 mg/ℓ of 2.4-D (205.6%) (3) It was certain that the growth-effect by each plant hormone had some differences between male and female gametophytes. IAA was very effective in the growth of male gametophytes but Keinetin in that of females. Especially in females, the efficiency of Keinetin was recorded best at 239.0% at 5.0 mg/ℓ and 222.0% at 0.1 mg/ℓ. On the other hand, it was 195.1% in its best at 0.5 mg/ℓ of IAA, and 146.6% was recorded best 2.4-D at 0.05 mg/ℓ.
명일엽(明日葉)(신선초(神仙草)) 및 인삼(人蔘)의 기내배양(器內培養)을 통한 Germanium 함량(含量) 증대(增大)

명조건에서 명일엽의 캘러스 유도와 증식은 GeO2와 C.E. Ge.O. 처리 모두 거의 되지 않았다. 암조건 하의 캘러스 유도는 명일엽에서 GeO2와 C. E. Ge. O. 처리 모두 5ppm까지 양호했고, 50ppm부터 저해되다가 100ppm GeO2처리시는 거의 되지 않은 반면 100ppm C. E. Ge. O. 처리시는 다소 되었다. 명일엽의 캘러스 유도와 증식은 배지의 PH가 pH 5.7 〉 pH 5.4 〉 pH 6.0 순서로 좋았다. 명조건 하의 인삼에서는 1~10ppm에서 불량하게 생육하나 신초를 잘 형성했다. 암조건 하의 캘러스 증식은 명일엽에서 GeO2나 C.E.Ge.O. 처리 시 모두 5ppm까지 양호했고, GEO2처리시 50ppm부터 거의 되지 않았으나 C. E. Ge. O. 처리시는 pH5.7의 경우 100ppm에서도 다소 좋았다. 명일엽에서는 캘러스 증식 중 신초 형성이 많았는데 pH5.7에서 현저했다. 인삼에서는 암상태에서 GeO2처리시 10ppm부터, C. E. Ge. O. 처리시는 50ppm부터 불량하면서 갈색으로 변했다. 암조건 하에서 GeO2와 C. E. Ge. O. 의 모든 농도에서 명일엽의 캘러스가 인삼의 캘러스보다 함량이 높았다. 두 식물 모두 동일 농도에서 GeO2처리한 캘러스가 C. E .Ge. O.의 것보다 높았다. 흡수양상에서 있어서는 명일엽의 경우 GeO2는 10ppm까지 급속하게 홉수하고 그 이상의 농도에서는 완만한 반면 C. E. Ge. O.는 GeO2에 비하여 100ppm까지 완만하게 흡수되었다. This study was carried out to find optimum concentration of germanium compounds and pH of medium on the induction and growth of callus from A. keiskei and P. ginseng and to intend to increase Ge. absorption by calli while those calli were subculturing on MS medium. Callus from a. keiskei was rarely induced under light condition. Under dark condition, callus induction from A. keiskei was good up to 5ppm, retarded at 50ppm of GeO2, or C. E. Ge. O., and rarely done at 100 ppm of GeO2 but was somewhat well at 100 ppm of C. E. Ge. O. The induction and growth of callus was good in order of pH 5. 7 〉 pH 5. 4 〉 pH 6. 0 Under light condition, the growth of callus induced from P. ginseng was poor at 1~10 ppm of GeO2, or C. E. Ge. O., but shooting from callus occurred frequently. Under dark condtion, the growth of callus from A. keiskei was good up to 5 ppm of GeO2, or C. E. Ge. O. and was rarely done at 50 ppm of GeO2, but was somewhat well even at 100 ppm of C. E. Ge. O. Shooting from callus occurred frequently in a. keiskei, especially at pH 5.7. The growth of callus from P. ginseng was poor at 10 ppm of GeO2, or 50 ppm of C. E. Ge. O. Under dark condition, the amount of Ge absorption by callus induced from A. keiskei was much higher than that from P. ginseng. The amount of Ge. absorption by callus treated with GeO2, was higher than that treated with C. E. Ge. O.
