The Advanced Safety Vehicle (ASV) allows drivers not only convenience and safety, but also many useful services provided by the Telematics technology. Since ASV is expected to be widely used in the near future, it is necessary to ensure the safety of ASV systems. Among several aspects of ASV, this paper investigates the safety of the Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) system. Field tests are carried out under the domestic roadway and traffic conditions, according to International Standard Organization (ISO) requirements for ACC. The test data are analyzed whether the requirements are adequate for domestic circumstances, and the suggestions for findings are given.

A contour-following system using an accommodation force control is modeled. The performance of this system is improved by an optimal preview control, which anticipates a future disturbance information. This study presents how to utilize the local future information obtained by the finite preview to minimize optimality criterion evaluated over a problem duration. Simulation results are given based on an industrial robot system.

로보트 매니퓰레이터가 일정한 접촉 힘을 유지하며 공작물의 표면을 따라가게 하는 작업은 많은 자동화 생산공정에서 유용하게 이용될 수 있다. 일반적인 위치제어용 산업용 로보트를 이러한 공정에 사용하기 위해서는 접촉힘이 계측되어 로보트의 제어에 이용되어야만 한다. 이 연구는 accommodation force control 방식으로 산업용 로보트를 제어하여 edge-following에 응용하도록하며, 접촉 힘의 계측에는 wrist force sensor를 사용한다. 이 시스템의 궤도추적속도와 force regulation 등이 예견제어에 의해 향상될 수 있다. 예견제어에 의해 설계된 전체 제어 시스템은 feedback 제어기와 feedforward 예견제어기로 구성된다. 여기서, 시스템의 안정성은 feedback 제어기에 의해서 결정되며, 예견제어기는 시스템에 미치는 외란을 통제하는 것을 주 기능으로 한다. 일반적으로 선형제어 방식을 채택한 경우와 예견제어를 이용한 edge-following을 실험을 통해 비교함으로써, 예견제어의 효용성을 확인한다.

As motorcycles are getting more widely used recently, motorcycle accidents are gradually increased every year. Although most accidents are caused by human factors, the importance of motor vehicle safety standards cannot be underestimated indeed. A variety of regulations related to motorcycle safety have been issued in many countries such as EU, U.S., and Australia, etc. In order to harmonize the international safety standards, it is necessary to develop or enhance the Korean Motor Vehicle Safety Standards (KMVSS) for motorcycles. In this study, motorcycle safety standards for an exterior rear-view mirror and a tire are investigated. Actual test procedures are expected in sequential studies according to the results provided herein. Also, the findings in this paper can be utilized to ensure the KMVSS for a safer driving.

This paper considers the implementation of a learning feedforward control for periodic disturbance cancellation in high performance disk drives. The controller uses a preview control algorithm which learns repeatable runouts. The control scheme overcomes the drawback of conventional control schemes which can hardly attenuate repeatable disturbances. Simulations using disturbances reconstructed from actual drive level position error signal (PES) measurements have been carried out to show the effectiveness of this control scheme. The results show that a high-performance motion system can be obtained with this approach.

Projector type headlamps such as halogen and HID provide a high luminous gradient at the cutoff line, and result in good quality light patterns. This new head lamp technology delivers drivers not only expanded night vision, but also more comfortable nighttime driving. However, if the head lamps arc too bright, they may dazzle other traffics during traversing a rough road or encountering an unexpected bump. To resolve this problem, an auto-leveling of head lamps is necessary. This study uses a preview control for the design of the auto-leveling system, which attenuates a dynamic glare very effectively.
