Investigation of Vibration Damping Characteristics of Automotive Air Conditioning Pipeline Systems

The pipeline system that is composed of fiber reinforced rubber hoses is subject to various severe dynamic excitations once an air conditioning system is mounted on vehicle, and the prolonged exposure of air conditioner to the severe vibration environments may cause micro cracks and leakage of rubber hoses. Therefore, rubber hoses are desired to have high damping performance to suppress the excessive structural vibration. Meanwhile, the fixing bracket is usually manufactured with aluminum to reduce the total weight, but it is also desired to be replaced with other material for the sake of production cost down. In this context, the natural frequencies, frequency responses and the vibration acceleration levels (VALs) of the pipeline system are analyzed by the finite element analysis and the vibration experiment was performed. As well, the vibration damping characteristics of the five-layered reinforced rubber hoses of automotive air conditioner are parametrically investigated with respect to the rubber hose hardness and the material type of fixing bracket. It is found that the soft rubber hoses provide the best damping performance, which is also verified through the actual vibration experiment. In addition, the possibility of changing the bracket material to reduce the production cost is also confirmed.

The cooling process in the injection molding requires the longest time. Therefore, a lot of studies have been conducted to reduce the cooling time. In particular, studies on conformal cooling channels using 3D printing are actively being conducted. In this study, the effect of the conformal cooling channel considering the hood shape instead of the conventional linear cooling channel was investigated by injection molding analysis. In the analysis results, when the conformal cooling channel was applied, the length deformation of the molded product was reduced by about 33% and the circular deformation of the hood assembled on the lens was reduced by about 7.1㎛.
사출성형해석 연구를 이용한 게이트 밸런스 계산식의 검증

In a multi-cavity mold having a runner layout of a fish bone structure, problems of unbalanced filling between cavities occur constantly. Unbalanced charging lowers the dimensional accuracy of a molded article and causes deformation after molding. To solve this problem, the gate size connected to each cavity is adjusted using the BGV (Balanced Gate Value) equation. In this paper, in order to solve the filling imbalance problem of the runner layout mold of fish bone structure through injection molding analysis study, we compared the charging imbalance phenomenon before and after improvement after adjusting the gate size by applying BGV equation. From the results of the molding analysis, the shrinkage ratio before and after the improvement of the molded article was improved by only about 0.08%. Based on these results, it was confirmed that the charging imbalance problem was not significantly improved even when the BGV equation was applied
Development of the plastic culture container to improve light transmission and stacking possibility

This paper is concerned with the development of plastic culture container in order to resolve the problems of conventional culture bottle, such as heavy weight, reduction of transmitted light amount after sterilization operation, and impossibility of stacking of bottles. The plastic culture container was developed by seeking the optimum molding conditions for the gate diameter, the melting temperature and the coolant temperature. The optimum conditions were sought by making use of Taguchi design experiments and injection molding analyses. The performance of developed plastic culture container was evaluated in terms of the dimension accuracy and the transmitted light amount after sterilization operations, and the weight of container. It has been verified that all the performances are remarkably improved, when compared with conventional culture bottle.

Recently, the demand of high-productivity injection mold increases since the consumption of packaging grows in the world. Stack mold is composed of more than two molds and it has very high productivity and economic efficiency. In this study, stack mold was developed to improve productivity of vehicle fixed weather strip with TPV materials and to investigate the characteristic of injection molding using CAE.
써큐레이터의 플라스틱 후면 커버 성형용 금형에 적용된 형상 적응형 냉각 채널의 효과

The longest process in the injection molding process is the cooling process of the molded product. Therefore, shortening the cooling time is key to reducing the injection molding cycle time. For fast cooling time, the production of conformal cooling channels using metal 3D printing instead of the conventional linear cooling channels is continuously increasing. In this study, the cooling effect of the conventional linear cooling channel application and the conformal cooling channel application using metal 3D printing was compared in the design of the back cover molding mold of the circulator that has been widely used recently. The comparison of the cooling effect was based on the mold temperature and the molded product temperature for a certain period of time after completion of molding. It was confirmed that the time required to eject from the mold with the conformal cooling channel to the ejecting temperature of the molded product was reduced by 28.7%, and the maximum temperature of the mold was also reduced by 40%.
착색사출성형품에서 안료 및 성형조건이 수축에 미치는 영향

The pigments used for coloring of plastic parts influence considerably on the parts quality such as precision, appearance and strength. In this research, we explored the effects of injection molding condition and pigment's material properties on the shrinkage in the injection molded PP(polypropylene) parts. Injection molding experiments were conducted to collect data that were used to relations between parts qualities and injection condition such as melt temperature, injection pressure and holding pressure with various pigment. The results for injection conditions show that shrinkage was increased according to increasing melt temperature and decreased according to increasing injection pressure and holding pressure. And the results for pigments show that shrinkage in case of adding organic pigments was shown larger that inorganic pigments and red among all pigments were shown largest shrinkage in all case.
