조직이 위기에 처해있을 때, 이를 대처하기 위한 위기관리능력은 모든 조직의 생존과 직결되는 문제이다. 최근 코로나 19 바이러스 확산으로 인하여 학교는 그동안 시행된 적 없었던 온라인 개학으로 위기에 봉착하였다. 그동안 기업의 경우 위기상황에 직면했을 때, 최고경영자 즉 CEO에게 필요한 리더십에 대한 연구는 매우 다양한 형태로 이루어진 반면, 학교조직을 대상으로 위기상황에서 학교장에게 필요한 리더십에 관한 연구와 논의는 거의 이루어지지 않았다. 이에 본 연구는 학교가 처한 위기상황을 블랜디드 수업을 통해 빠르게 코로나19 상황에 적합한 수업 방식을 정착한 경기도 소재 희망초등학교를 연구대상으로 설정하고, 해당 학교장의 리더십과 그 효과성을 분석할 목적으로 수행되었다. 이에 연구 참여자로 희망초등학교 교사 8명을 최종 선정하였으며, 현상에 관한 탐구를 위해 참여 관찰, 심층 면담 두 가지 방법을 활용하여 자료를 분석하였다. 분석결과, 위기상황에서 나타난 희망초등학교 학교장의 리더십 특성은 ‘과감하게 비전 결정하기’, ‘선제적 교수-학습환경기반 마련하기’, ‘디테일은 존중하기’, ‘조력자로서 기다리기’, ‘경청과 소통으로 교육 가치 공유하기’ 다섯 가지로 나타났다. 해당 리더십을 통해 희망초등학교는 교사들의 자발적 헌신을 통한 온라인 수업이 빠르게 정착되었고, 교사 간 협력적 문제해결 관계가 형성되었으며, 학교장과 교사 간에 신뢰 관계가 형성되어 빠르게 위기를 극복할 수 있었다. 연구 결과를 통해 리더십이 발휘 시 상황에 적절한 학교의 의사결정 방식 도입과 더불어 의사결정과정에서 단위학교의 자율성 허용 범위에 대한 논의를 제언하였다. When an organization is in crisis, the risk management ability to cope with it is a matter that is directly related to the survival of all organizations. Due to the recent spread of the COVID-19, schools faced a crisis with online school openings that had never been implemented. This study was conducted with the aim of analyzing the leadership and effectiveness of the principal of the school, starting from this awareness of the problem and quickly settling the crisis situation of Hope Elementary School in Gyeonggi-do, which is suitable for the COVID-19 situation through the Blended Learning. Therefore, 8 teachers of elementary school were finally selected as participants of the study, and two methods of participation observation and in-depth interview were used to study the phenomenon. The study results showed that the leadership characteristics of principals that emerged in a crisis situation are represented in five categories: ‘Decide on the vision boldly.’, ‘Laying the foundation for preemptive teaching and learning.’ ‘Respect the details.’, ‘Wait as the helper’, ‘Share educational values through listening and communication.’ Through this leadership, Hope Elementary School quickly established online classes through the dedication of teachers, the cooperative problem-solving relationship was formed between teachers, trust relationship was formed between the principal and teachers. As a result, the crisis was quickly overcome. Through the results of the study, it was suggested to discuss the necessity of changing the existing school's decision-making process through awareness of the change in situation when the principal's leadership is exercised and the extent to which the autonomy of the unit school is allowed in the decision-making process.
