Carbon/epoxy is a well known composite material for its outstanding performance in structural applications. A method of experimentation is conceived and an experimental set-up is constructed to evaluate elastic constants of carbon/epoxy composites. The frequencies are measured for three different modes: torsional, flexural and longitudinal vibrations.<br/> There has existed a formula expressing an explicit relationship between resonance frequencies and elastic constants. However the formula is valid only for a isotropic media. Area moments of inertia for composite materials are computed from measured frequencies of both longitudinal and flexural vibrations. The computed moments of inertia are utilized to determine elastic constants of carbon/epoxy composites. Which are then compared with elastic constants obtained from the formula developed for isotropic materials. Also. Variations of elastic constants at different temperatures are investigated with applications of the modified formula that has corrected values of area moment of inertia.<br/>

The evaluation of joint fatigue strength of light weight materials for electrical vehicle body has been performed through T-peel joint tests with the design parameters such as joint style, adherend type, adherend thickness, adhesive thickness, and various adhesives. Fatigue strength was evaluated through 5-Hz, tension-tension, load controlled test with the stress ratio zero value. It is experimentally observed that the fatigue strength of joint increases with the increase of the adherend thickness. With the increase of the adhesive thickness, however, the fatigue strength of joint increases very little. Aluminum-FRP adherend combination shows much higher fatigue strength than Aluminum-Aluminum adherend combination. The results of fatigue test agree with those of static test.<br/>
