안성현(安成賢: 1920~2006)은 한국과 북한의 서로 다른 사회체제와 문화를 두루 체험한 작곡가이자 지휘가로서 20세기 한민족이 낳은 저명한 음악예술가이다. 그의 파란만장한 생애와 예술활동은 남북분단의 고민과 아픔을 안아야 했던 한민족예술가들의 정신사적 기록이기도 하다. 아버지의 영향 하에서 음악예술가의 길에 들어선 그는 남한에서 이미 중학교 음악교원, 우수한 작곡가로 성공했고 북으로 옮겨간 이후에는 주류담론에 기대지 않으면 안 되는 상황에서도 뛰어난 음악지휘가·작곡가로 대성하기도 했다. 그의 삶과 음악활동은 전 생애에 걸쳐 부친 안기옥(安基玉)과 연결되어 있었다. 그 정면적 영향은 그로 하여금 성장의 발걸음을 빠르게 하였고, 부면적적 영향은 그의 예술활동의 황금기를 잃게 하였다. 아울러 그는 자신만의 독특한 미학사상과 추구를 소유함으로 하여 새로운 음악세계를 창출해 낼 수 있었고, 평범한 음악교사로부터 뛰어난 작곡가 · 지휘가로 성장할 수가 있었다. 그는 민족음악의 현대적 발전에 획기적인 기여를 했고, 국제적인 인정을 받은 민족음악가였다. 또한 그는 민족음악고전을 정리하여 후대에게 넘겨준 음악문헌 정리자이기도 하다. 이와 함께 그는 특수한 원인으로 하여 주류담론에서 밀려 음악창작활동의 황금기를 잃고 “유명”예술인으로부터 “무명”예술인으로 되기도 했다. 그럼에도 불구하고 그는 민족예술에 대한 정체성(正體性)을 잃지 않고 있었다. 그는 부침 많았던 삶의 노정에서 민족음악의 민족성(民族性)과 현대성(現代性), 그리고 자율성(自律性)을 추구하여 민족음악예술가로서의 지조와 재능을 과시했다. 아울러 안성현의 음악창작 활동은 남북 음악교류의 중요한 한 분야로 되며 그가 민족음악 발전에서 이룩한 업적은 남과 북, 내지는 전 세계에 있는 한민족 모두의 자랑스러운 정신적 유산으로 될 것이다. An Song-hyon 安成賢(An Cheng-xian, 1920-2006) was a composer who experienced the different social system and cultures of North Korea and South Korea. He also was a famous Korean national music artist of the 20th century. His magnificent life and artistic activities were a kind of spirit and historic record for Korean artists who felt worried and bitter about the separation between the north and south. Under the influence of his father An Ki-ok 安基玉(1894-1974), he followed the art of music, and became a high school music teacher and a good composer in South Korea. Without relying on the power of mainstream and in very unfavorable conditions he also became an outstanding music conductor and composer when he got to North Korea. His music activities gave him a strong connection with his father. Its positive influence made him grow fast, but on the other hand, its negative impact is that he missed the gold period of the art activities. Because of his unique aesthetic thinking and pursuit, he created a new world of music and went from an ordinary music teacher to being an outstanding composer of music. He has made a significant contribute to the modern development of national music and became a world famous folk musician. He organized Korean folk music literature and left it to future generations. At the same time, he was sidelined by the mainstream because of his personal reasons, and he missed the gold period of music creation. Suddenly he turned out to be an unknown artist among the famous artists, but he did not loose enthusiasm for national art. Although he had many ups and downs in his life, he always sought to the character, and self-discipline of national music and to show the national moral integrity and ability of a music artist. His music creation activities become important areas for the civil communication. The achievement that he created in national music is a kind of spiritual wealth, Korean people all over the world are proud of it.

Jin Zhen, a gayageum sanjo performer, has played a very important role in the field of Korean music in South and North Korea as well as in China. He has not only made a great contribution to the development of the Korean music, but also left a precious national musical legacy for the young generation of China`s Korean ethnic people in the field of gayageum playing and its theory. Without great passion and love for the Korean traditional folk music, Jin Zhen could have never risked his life to do such great performance and research in a rough political and social environment of forbidding traditional music study. And withouthis strong obligation and his anticipation to the development and the future of the folk music, all these could never happen. As a founder of the China`s Korean gayageum sanjo, Jin Zhen committed all his life to the development of Korean music education and the study of ethnic music theory. Meanwhile, He is admired and respected not only because of his noble character, broad mind and his loyalty to ethnic group, but also because of his love for his faculty and his students. In a word, the foundation of his life and his musical achievement is the coexistence of his passion for the national tradition, the spirit of seeking truth practically, and his persistence of cultural philosophical thinking. First of all, Jin Zhen has been a famous gayageum sanjo performer in North-Korea. He used to be a student of An Qiyu, a famous composer, in Pyongyang Music College. He developed a good friendship with An Qiyu who had given him a great influence on most musical activities and performance. Particularly, the development of the gayageum musical art in YanBian Universty and the development of traditional folk music education has been inseparable with the support of An Qiyu and other people. And as a gayageum sanjo educator, Jin Zhen paid much attention to the solution of the educational targets and emphasized in the yield of the gayageum talent training. Meanwhile, his clear view of education and his obligation has lay great foundation within developing new teaching materials. In addition, as a folk music theorist, Jin Zhen has left us so many articles and papers such as music criticism, music papers, travelling writings of music and so on. Jin Zhen is the only man who has disseminated gayageum sanjo to China. Besides, he has also played an important role in gayageum sanjo cultural exchanges between China and South Korea. He has made a great contribution to the talent training of the China`s Korean gayageum sanjo. He has also been confirmed as an An Qiyu`s gayageum sanjo disseminator, a folk musician and a contributor to the modern development of gayageum music in China. Meanwhile, Jin Zhen has inherited and continued An Qiyu`s gayageum sanjo as a vital yield in south-north musical exchange activities. He has showed a profound preoccupation with the folk music. Therefore, with preservation and development of the gayageum sanjo, the achievement of Jin Zhen will be a precious social cultural inheritance.
