MAGNETO - OPTICAL KERR SPECTRA FOR AMORPHOUS RE - Co ALLOY FILMS

The magneto-optical Kerr spectra(λ=250~700㎚) of amorphous RE-Co(RE=Ce, Nd, Pr, Gd, Tb, Er, Ho) are compared with those of Y-Co films. It has been found that the Kerr rotation of RE-Co is mainly due to Co in the long wavelength region, whereas at short wavelength Ce, Pr, Nd, and Gd contribute positively, and Tb, Ho, and Er contribute negatively to the Kerr rotation of RE-Co amorphous films. In the interesting energy region(1.5~5.0 eV), the magneto-optical contribution of Pr and Nd are thought to be related with 4f↑ - 5d↑ inter band transition, and the contribution of Ce and Gd might be concerned with d→ p interband transition. The magneto-optical effect of Tb in the short wavelength region might be related with 4f↓- 5d↓ and/or 5d↓ - 4f↓, and that of Ho and Er can be explained by 4f↓ - 5d↓ magneto-optical interband transition.
다중반사에 의한 금속다층막의 자기광학 Kerr 효과 분석

The magneto-optical Kerr effect due to the (Fe, Co) /(Pd, Pt, Cu, Ag) multilayer film is calculated considering of multiple reflection effect, and the calculated Kerr spectrum is compared to the reported experimental value. In case of Co /Pd, the reliance of composition and the variable tendency of magneto-optical Kerr rotation angle for Co thickness fully coresponds to experimantal and theoretical value. The theoretical Kerr spectrum of Fe /Cu and Fe /Ag multilayer films show the peaks near the Cu and Ag optical ansorption band in accordance with the experiment. But in case of Co /Pt, the increase tendency of Kerr rofation with decreasing wavelength reported by experiments could not be explained by the optical multiple interference. This difference of theoretical and experimental Kerr spectrum of Co /Pt film might be related with the change of electronic structure of Co and /or Pt from their bulk state.

In this paper, we found out the objective refractive errors, the full corrective refractive powers, and the prescriptions for 64 males and 36 females aged 18 to 26 years. To increase the unaided visual acuity 0.1 to the sided visual acuity 1.0 with the glasses, we needed the spherical equivalent refractive power of -3.00D for male and -2.91D for female respectively. To increas the unaided visual acuity 0.5 to the aided visual acuity 1.0 with the glasses, we needed the spherical equivalent refractive power of -0.5D for male and -1.38D for female respectively. Comparing unaided visual acuity and corrective refractive power, the more one has refractive error the less one has unaided visual acuity but these are not linear relationships. Comparing objective refractive error figures, full corrective refractive power figures and prescriptions, objective refractive error figures are the hightest, followed by full corrective refractive power figures. Prescriptions compared with the other two are lower. The cylindrical refractive powers are less than -2.50D. In this study, with the rule astigmatism is dominant over against the rule astigmatism and oblique astigmatism. The accommodation measured by push up method is 6.75D∼0.04D for male and 7. 50D∼9.60D for female respectively.

The purpose of this study is to evaluate the effects of continuing work on VDT(video display terminal). therefore this study examined visual fatigue, unaided visual acuity, refractive error, accommodation and horizontal phoria of 152 subjects who did two hour long VDT work. For the ocular symtoms, the greatest number was tired eyes accounting for 45.71%. In the visual symptoms, blurred vision was the hightest rate of 80.39% and in case of systemic sysptoms shoulder pain was 33.33% marked top ranking. The average of near visual acuity decresed almost 10% from 0.47 to 0.42, but refractive error increased about 0.l0D to the direction of myopic shift. The amplitude of accommodation decreased approximately 0.72D from 7.46D to 6.74D. Accommodation facility was delayed from 2.27 second to 2.50 second, the amplitude of positive relative accommodation was decreased from 4.76D to 4.16D and the amplitude of negative relative accommodation was decreased from 2.46D to 2.33D. The horizontal phoria shifted to the direction of esophoria from 1.82 Δto 3.24Δ.

Magnetic and Magneto-optical characteristics of NdTbFeCo alloy films and NdTbFeCo /TbFeCo double-layered films have been investigated. It was observed that the Kerr rotation(θk) in the short wavelength region increased and the coercivity decreased as the substitutional amount of Nd for Tb in NdTbFeCo film at the constant FeCo content. In spite of the increased θk, a small coercivity of NdTbFeCo film made this medium unsuitable for magneto-optical recording medium at short wavelength. An effort was made to improve coercivity by exchange coupling with TbFeCo film of high coercivity. In the exchange-coupled Nd_(16.9)Tb_(l5.2)Fe_(50.4)Co_(17.5)(150 Å) /Tb_(21.1)Fe_(65.0)Co_(13.9) (300 Å) double-layered film, the magnetization reversal switching field and the Kerr rotation angle were increased to about 6.0 KOe and 0.32˚ at 500 ㎚, respectively. This result indicates that exchange-coupled NdTbFeCo /TbFeCo film can be a promising candidate for agneto-optical rerding medium short wavelenhth.
굴절이상과 안축장 / 각막곡률반경 비와의 관계에 관한 연구

The purpose of this study is to evaluate the relationship between axial length/corneal radius ratio and refractive error for human eye. Ocular components were measured Baush & Lomb keratometer, Holden-Payor pachometer, and Stoz Compuscan. Refractive error was measured by subjective refraction. The results were as follows; I) Spherical equivalent refractive error and axial length/corneal radius ratio was very highly correlated with the correlation coefficient for -0.89. 2) Axial length/corneal radius ratio and axial length, vitreous chamber depth were highly correlated that the correlation coefficients were 0.82, 0.80 respectively. 3) Axial length/corneal radius ratio and anterior chamber depth, corneal power, corneal radius, lens power were correlated with the correlation coefficients for 0.57, 0.40, -0.39, -0.35 respectively. 4) There were no significant correlation between axial length/corneal radius ratio and lens thickness, and corneal thickness.

In this study. anterior corneal radius of curvature in korean subjects aged between 16 to 79 year olds were measured using a keratometer. Refractive power was also measured without cyloplegia. A-mode Ultrasonography was used to measure anterior chamber depth, crystalline lens thickness. vitreous chamber depth & axial length. Measurements of anterior chamber depth of subjects in their 20 s were between 3.0 ㎜ & 4.0 ㎜, 70 s age group were between 2 ㎜ & 3.50 ㎜. showing a decrease with age. Crystalline lens thickness of 20 s age group was 2.64 ㎜ while 70 s age group was 4.62 ㎜ showing an increase with age. Vitreous chamber depth, unaffected by age. was about 17 ㎜. Axial length was 24.47 ㎜ in subjects below 40 s age groups decreasing to 24.11 ㎜ in above 40 s age groups. Corneal radius of curvature was 7.79 ㎜ and 7.72 ㎜ in younger and older age groups respectively, showing a decrease with age.
