본 연구에서는 농도에 변화를 준 액체 색으로 연상되는 향과 형용사를 연구하여 패키지의 투명성이 강조되는 시대에 보이는 액체색이 주는 시각적 감성이 후각감성제품디자인에 긍정적인 작용을 하는데 그 목적이 있다. 기존의 색과 향에 관한 감성 연구는 향에 대한 연상색채만을 분석하였으며 고체 색에 국한되어 있어 이를 보완하기 위해 색채의 공감각 기능에 더욱 중점을 두어 향을 제시하지 않고 색채로 향을 연상시키는 연구를 진행하였으며 액체 색으로 범위를 넓혀 농도변화에 따른 색과 향의 상관관계를 분석하였다. 본 연구는 액체 색을 색상환에 균등하게 7개의 색상(R, YR, Y, GY, G, B, P)으로 농도를 3단계로 나누어 21개의 샘플을 조색하였고 L*a*b*값으로 수치화하였으며 이 액체 색 샘플에 대하여 8개의 계열별 향을 제시하여 연상되는 향과 12개의 향형용사에 대해 5점 척도로 답변하도록 하였다. 설문결과로 8개의 상이한 계열의 향에서 색상의 특성을 찾을 수 있었으며 향을 느끼는데 색상이 중요한 역할을 한다는 결과를 도출할 수 있다. 또한 농도에 따라 향을 느끼는 강도에 차이가 있었고, YR 색상의 액체 색에서 중간 농도일 때 씨트러스 향이 가장 강하게 연상되었으나 강한 농도일 때는 프루티 향을 가장 강하게 연상시켜 액체 색이 동일하더라도 농도에 따라 다른 계열의 향을 연상시킬 수 있음을 밝혔다. 마지막으로 농도에 따라 연상되는 형용사에 차이가 있음으로 농도를 조절함으로써 특정한 향 이미지를 효과적으로 연상시킬 수 있다. The purpose of this study is to facilitate visual sensibility caused by liquid color to positively affect product design based on sensibility in an age emphasizing package transparency by identifying aroma and adjectives associated with liquid color differentiated by variations in concentration. This study is focusing more on synesthetic capacity of color and extending scope to include liquid colors to analyze the correlation between color and aroma in order to complement the limitations of preceding sensibility studies on color and aroma analyzing associated color by aroma and limited to solid colors. The study conducted a survey by asking participants to answer in five-point scale for the associated aroma from 8 types of aroma and 12 aromatic adjectives after preparing 21 liquid color samples of 7 colors (R, YR, Y, GY, G, B, P) differentiated into 3 types of concentration equally on the color wheel, quantified in L*a*b* values. Survey results demonstrated color characteristics in aroma from 8 different categories leading to the conclusion that color plays an important part in determining the association of aroma. In addition, there were differences in the strength of associated aroma according to concentration. Whereas citrus flavor was the most strongly associated with YR color liquid of medium concentration, fruity flavor was the most strongly associated with the same color liquid of high concentration demonstrating different sort of flavor can be associated with variation in concentration even when the liquid colors are identical. Finally, it is possible to produce association of specific aromatic image in an effective way by controlling the concentration as there are variations in associated adjectives according to concentration.
