This study describes thermal performance of heating and cooling demonstration system using ETSC(Evacuated tubular solar collector) installed at Seo-gu art center of Kwangju. For demonstration study, a reading room with about 331㎡ was heated and cooled using that system. The demonstration system was consisted of ETSCs, storage tank, hot water supply tank, subsidiary boiler, and subsidiary tank. From January to March in 2006, demonstration test were performed with 4 cotnrol mode to find the optimum control condition for solar thermal system. After experiments and analysis, this study found that solar thermal system of control mode Ⅳ was corresponded to 78% for the hot water supply and 49% for space heating.

This study was carried out to evaluate thermal performance of the renewable hybrid heat supply system with solar thermal system and wood pellet boiler for Zero Carbon Green home of apartment houses. The hybrid heat supply system was set up at Korea Institute Energy Research in 2011. The system was comprised of the wood pellet boiler unit with heat capacity designed as 20,000 kacal/hr, a evacuated tubular solar collector 3.74 m2 of aperture area at the 20º install angle, a 0.3 m2 hot water storage tank, a 0.15 m2 hot water storage tank for space heating. Thermal performance tests for one-house of apartment house were carried out by hot water load and heating load in winter season through the hybrid heat supply system. As a result, hot water energy supplied by the hybrid heat supply system was 11kWh in a day. Solar thermal energy portion was 2.99kWh which is 27% of the total hot water energy supply, wood pellet boiler supply portion was 8.017kWh which is 73% of the total hot water energy supply.

This study has been carried out find the thermal performance and operating characteristics comparison of singular evacuated tubular solar collector(ETSC) using different working fluid. Three sets having different evacuated tubular solar collector with heat pipe working fluids Water, Ethanol, MA were investigated in the same operating condition for a indoor experiment equipment. First the result of working fluid using water showed that F R(τα) was 0.6636 and F RU L was -1.8457. second working fluid using ethanol showed that F R(τα) was 0.6147 and F RU L was -0.6365. Finally when working fluid using MA's occasion that non-condensable gas does not happen F R(τα) was 0.6572 and F RU L was -2.0086.

This study was accomplished to get the foundation design data of VMD(Vacuum Membrane Distillation) system for Solar Thermal VMD plant. VMD experiment was designed to evaluate thermal performance of VMD using PVDF(polyvinylidene fluoride) hollow fiber hydrophobic membranes. The total membrane surface area in a VMD module is 5.3㎡. Experimental equipments to evaluate VMD system consists of various parts such as VMD module, heat exchanger, heater, storage tank, pump, flow meter, microfilter. The experimental conditions to evaluate VMD module were salt concentration, temperature, flow rate of feed sea water. Salt concentration of feed water were used by aqueous NaCl solutions of 25g/l, 35g/l and 45g/l concentration. As a result, increase in permeate flux of VMD module is due to the increasing feed water temperature and feed water flow rate. Also, decrease in permeate flux of VMD module is due to increasing salinity of feed water.VMD module required about 590 kWh/day of heating energy to produce 1㎥/day of fresh water.

This study was accomplished to evaluate the performance of Multi Effect Distillation(MED) for solar thermal desalination system. It was designed Multi effect distillation with 3㎥/day capacity and Shell&Tube type heat exchanger. Also, The effective heat transfer of Shell&Tube heat exchanger was used Cu(90%)-Ni(10%) corrugated tube. The parameters relating to the performance of Multi Effect Distillation are known as hot water flow rate. The experimental conditions for each parameters were 18℃ for sea water inlet temperature, 6㎥/hour sea water inlet volume flow rate, 75℃ for hot water inlet temperature, 2.4, 3.6, and 4.8㎥/hour for hot water inlet volume flow rate, respectively. The results are as follows, Development for Multi effect distillation was required about 40㎾ heat and 35㎾ cooling source to produce 3㎥/day of fresh water. Based on the results of this study, It makes possible to secure economics of desalination system with solar energy which is basically needed development of high efficiency fresh water generator.

Mucinous nevus is a rare entity classified as either cutaneous mucinosis or connective tissue nevi. Clinically, grouped papules or plaques grow to form a verrucous or nevoid feature usually on the trunk. It can be present since birth or early childhood. Histologically, it consists of mucin deposits localized in the superficial dermis with or without epidermal changes. An 18-year-old boy presented with asymptomatic multiple grouped brown papules and coalescent plaques on his lower back that had been present since birth. Histological examination showed a band-like mucin deposit in the papillary dermis. To our knowledge, there have been only few reports of mucinous nevus in the literature. Here, we report a case of mucinous nevus present since birth, including a review of relevant literature. (Korean J Dermatol 2014;52(12):892∼894)
태양열 해수담수화를 위한 증발식 MEMS(Multi-Effect-Multi-Stage)담수기 성능 실험 연구

In this study, we have carried out development and performance evaluation of optimized MEMS(Multi-Effect-Multi-Stage)fresh water generator with 7㎥/day for solar thermal desalination system. The developed MEMS was composed of high temperature part and low temperature part. This arrangement has the advantage of increasing the availability of solar thermal energy. The MEMS consists of 2 steam generators, 5 evaporators, and 1 condenser. Tubes of heat exchanger used for steam generators, evaporators and condenser were manufactured by corrugated tubes. The performance of the MEMS was tested through in-door experiments, using an electric heater as heat source. The experimental conditions for each parameters were 20℃ for sea water inlet temperature to condenser, 8.16㎥ /hour sea water inlet volume flow rate, 70℃ for hot water inlet temperature to generator of high temperature part, 3.6 4.8, 6.0㎥/hour for hot water inlet volume flow rate. As a result, The developed MEMS was required about 85kW heating source to produce 7㎥/day of fresh water. It was analyzed that the performance ratio of MEMS was about 2.6.

A 53-year-old woman presented with asymptomatic pedunculated mass on her buttock. She was attacked by the tick while climbing the Jungbyung mountain located in Changwon City, the southern coastal area of the Korean Peninsula. It was identified as male Amblyomma testudinarium according to its morphological characteristics. Histological examination showed dense inflammatory infiltration of neutrophils and eosinophils, and dilated vessels on the dermis beneath the biting site of the tick. There have been only few reports of the tick bite by A. testudinarium in the Korean literature. To the best of our knowledge, our patient is the second case of tick bite from this species and the first tick bite from the male tick recorded in Korea. Here, we report a case of tick bite by male A. testudinarium in a woman, including a review of relevant literature. (Korean J Dermatol 2016;54(2):125∼128)

This study was carried out to evaluate the operating performances of the evaporation desalination system with solar energy. This system was designed to use evacuated solar collector as the heat source, supplying the required heat energy and photovoltaic power as the electric source, supplying required power to pumps in the desalination system. The 5kW photovoltaic power generation system to make the electricity, the single-stage fresh water generator with plate heat exchanger, and remote control and monitoring system. Solar desalination system was designed and installed in Jeju-island, Korea in 2006, after about 4 years of operation, usability and stability of solar desalination system was guaranteed. The system comprises of the desalination unit which was designed to have daily fresh water capacity of 2m³, a 120m² evacuated tubular solar collector to supply the heat, a 6m³ heat storage tank, and a 5.2kW photovoltaic power generation to supply the electricity to hydraulic pumps for the heat medium fluids. On a clear day, average daily solar irradiance in Jeju-island was measured to be 500W/m² and the daily fresh water yield showed to be more than 500 liters under this condition. After around three years of a long term operation of the system from January 2007 to August 2009, average daily freshwater yield was analyzed to be around 330{ell}. The relationship equation between solar irradiance and freshwater yield was found to be y=1.1806x - 107.89.
