Concrete filled steel square tubular columns have many excellent structural properties, such as high compressive, large ductility and large energy absorption capacity. Then, concrete filled columns are gradually used widely in the world. In this paper, hollow and concrete filled steel square tubular columns are tested under concentric and eccentric axial load. Experimental maximum strength and behavior of concrete filled columns are compared with the results of hollow section columns. Moreover, AIK(Architectural Institute of Korea)limit state design method for composite columns subjected to axial force and bending moment is discussed.
