LRT System Application Project is performed for the purpose of technical advancement and stabilization of K-AGT system from the viewpoint of practical use and commercialization. For those purpose, the performance test and evaluation procedure for signaling system are developed, and the scheme of verifying the performance and function of signaling system under multi-train and driverless control environment is being conducted. In general, the railway have kept their systems highly safe and reliable through the ongoing efforts over a period of many years. This has been achieved primarily by continuous improvements, which mean that there is a dearth of experience in the introduction of innovative new systems. Therefore it is said that comparing a new system that features a completely new architecture with a conventional one may be difficult. In this paper, we investigate the evaluation method for Radio based-Communication Based Train Control system from case study.

In this paper, multiple train operation scheme in K-AGT test line is presented. Test schemes for maintaining the safety distance between trains, operation scenario considering shunting and turning of train, and dia operation schemes in test line are reviewed while researching test vehicle features, route condition and running pattern. Additional equipments for testing each scheme are also reviewed.

Obstacle detection using laser is usually employed at level crossing. But blind zone which can not be detected exists and, after the train passes a warning signal, the condition of level crossing like intrusion of vehicle is not informed to train driver. To reduce the accident at level crossing, train driver should monitor the condition of level crossing until the train pass away from level crossing. For example, when vehicles is out of order at level crossing, the video information of obstacle transmitted to train by radio communication can prevent accidents. In this paper, the monitoring system at train is proposed to help train driver to monitor the obstacle at level crossing.

The safety equipments of railway level crossing which are installed at intersections between roads and railway lines prevent level crossing accidents by informing all of the vehicles and pedestrians of approaching trains. The intelligent safety system for level crossing which employs information and communication technology has been developed in USA and Japan, etc. But, in Korea, the relevant research has not been performed. In this paper, we analyze the cause of railway level crossing accidents and the inherent problem of the existing safety equipments. Based on analyzed results, we design the intelligent safety system which prevent collision between a train and a vehicle. This system displays train approaching information in real-time at roadside warning devices, informs approaching train of the detected obstacle in crossing areas, and is interconnected with traffic signal to empty the crossing area before train comes. Especially, we present the video based obstacle detection algorithm and verify its performance with prototype H/W since the abrupt obstacles in crossing areas are the main cause of level crossing accidents. We identify that the presented scheme detects both pedestrian and vehicle with good performance.

East Japan Railway Company developed an digital ATC signalling system instead of conventional ATC system and now is making progress the construction tokyo area Keihin-Tohoku Line between Minamiurawa and Tsurumi. But replacing into new system with existing ATC system in operation should be performed without affecting current running system and the technology that makes it possible for current system and new system to coexist, initialization of system, preparation for an emergency should be organized not to affect overall system. Controlling method of digital ATC signalling system and "assurance technique" for solving the problems when replacing will be mentioned in this paper.
