석유의 누출로 인해 토양과 지하수 오염이 점차 증가되면서, 토양환경에 대한 중요성이 점차 늘고 있다. 토양오염은 다른 환경오염에 비해 정화비용이 비싸며, 긴 정화기간이 요구된다. 본 연구에서는 토양오염을 발생시킬 수 있는 대표적 석유제품에 대한 물성분석과 함께 토양에 누유시킨 뒤, 석유계 총탄화수소화합물의 스펙트럼 패턴을 분석함으로써 유종들의 특성을 분석하였다. 이는 추후 석유에 의한 토양오염 발생 시, 어떤 석유제품에 의한 오염인지 쉽게 판단이 가능할 것이다. The significance of soil environment has been gradually increased because of petroleum leak accidents. Comparing with wastewater clean treatments and air pollutant controls, the soil purification requires a long-term process and it is very expensive. In this study, we analyzed the physicochemical properties of total petroleum hydrocarbon (TPH) contaminated in soil. This could be applied to deciding the source of petroleum when a soil contamination accident occurs.

Because food crops serve as the raw materials for biodiesel, the increasing use of biodiesel as an alternative fuel can lead to adverse effects such as food price inflation and may contribute to global starvation. To solve these problems, efforts are being made to explore various nonedible raw materials for producing biodiesel. Different raw materials impart different fuel characteristics to biodiesel. In this study, we synthesized pure fatty acid methyl ester (FAME), which is a biodiesel component, and then analyzed its fuel properties. The fuel properties of pure FAME would be useful in producing biodiesel from various new raw materials.

석유누출 사고로 인해 토양과 지하수 오염이 점차 증가되면서, 토양환경에 대한 중요성이 늘고 있다. 토양오염은 다른 환경오염에 비해 많은 정화비용과 긴 정화기간이 요구된다. 이런 이유로 토양오염이 발생되면, 어떤 오염물질에 의해 토양이 오염되었으며, 토양정화의 책임이 있는 오염자가 누구인지 법적 분쟁이 많이 발생되고 있다. 본 연구에서는 토양오염을 발생시킬 수 있는 항공유에 대한 물성 분석과 함께 항공유 내의 특정 첨가제를 분석함으로써 등유와 항공유의 구분법을 찾아내었다. 특히 발색제에 의해 등유 내 화학적 식별제만 발색되었으며, GC-MS 분석결과 항공유에서만 산화방지제와 금속불활성제가 분석되었다. 이는 추후 항공유에 의한 토양오염 야기 시, 어떤 석유제품에 의한 오염인지 쉽게 판단이 가능할 것이다. The significance of soil environment is gradually increased due to the soil and underwater contamination caused by petroleum leak accidents. It requires a high cost and long period for the purification of soil compared with other environmental matrix such as water and air. For this reason, it has been embroiled in a legal conflict to find the pollution source and charge of cleanup. In this study, we analyzed the physical properties and typical additives of jet fuel to search a method that can dis-tinguish kerosene and jet fuel contamination. In particular, the chemical marker in kerosene was visualized by the developer and the additives in jet fuel, such as antioxidant and metal deactivator were detected by GC-MS. This study could be used to judge petroleum source at soil contaminant accident sites.

국내 자동차사는 순정엔진오일을 정해놓고 일반엔진오일보다 높은 가격으로 판매하고 있다. 본 연구에서는 국내 순정엔진오일 14종과 동급의 일반엔진오일(KS제품) 14종에 대하여 품질비교 및 차량을 이용하여 10,000 km씩 주행한 뒤, 회수된 엔진오일의 물성을 분석하였다. 분석 결과, 사용하지 않은 신유는 순정엔진오일과 일반 엔진오일의 품질이 대동소이하였지만, 오히려 주행 후 회수된 일반엔진오일은 순정엔진오일에 비해 윤활성이 우수하였으며, 동점도와 전산가 변화가 작은 것으로 나타났다. Domestic vehicle companies have been selling genuine engine oils with higher price than that of the same grade of regular engine oils. In this study, our group investigated the properties of engine oils for 14 kinds of the genuine and equivalent regular engine oil (KS product) species under a fresh as well as used condition recovered after 10,000 km driving. From analytic results, genuine engine oils had similar physical properties to regular engine oils under the fresh condition. But recovered regular engine oils had better properties in lubricity, kinematic viscosity and acid number change than those of recovered genuine engine oils.

The low temperature characteristics of automotive diesel have been legally regulated due to the fact that solid particle in diesel at low temperature can cause severe problems in the vehicle. The biodiesel is well known for eco-friendly fuel, which is one of the most popular alternative petrodiesel, but it is easy to solidified at low temperature than petrodiesel at low temperature. For that reason, in this study, we investigated the low temperature fuel characteristics of diesel-biodiesel blends which were prepared to mix 6 different kinds of biodiesel to winter diesel fuel, respectively. Also, we confirmed to improve low temperature fuel characteristics by pour point depressant.

Automotive wheel bearing grease helps to reduce stresses and prevent wear of wheel bearings. But it is easily contaminated by water and other contaminants. Previously, our research group reported the change of grease physical properties such as dropping point, work penetration and oxidation work stability. water washout characteristics. leakage tendency, oil separation, evaporation loss and rust protection by water contamination. In this paper, we analyzed the physical characteristics or grease such as lubricity, viscosity and total acid number to investigate the mechanism of thickener decomposition. In water contaminated grease, the total acid number and wear scar were increased. the viscosity was decreased due to the decomposition of lithium complex thickener.

?;?;Automotive wheel bearing grease helps to reduce stresses and prevent wear of wheel bearings. But it is easily contaminated by water and other contaminants. In this study, we investigated the property change of automotive wheel bearing grease under water contamination. The result showed that some properties such as dropping point, work penetration and oxidation stability were not influenced by water content. However, most of properties such as work stability, water washout characteristics, leakage tendency, oil separation, evaporation loss and rust protection became worse after water was added. This is thought that added water makes the interaction weak between thickener and base oil of grease.

The engine oil is an oil used for lubrication of various internal combustion engines. Recently, the vehicle and engine oil manufacture usually guarantee for oil change over 15000~20000 km mileage, but the most of driver usually change engine oil every 5000 km driving in Korea. In this case, it is possible to cause environmental contamination by used engine oil and increase the cost of driving by frequently oil change. In this study, we investigate the various physical properties such as flash point, pour point, kinematic viscosity, cold cranking simulator, total acid number, and four-ball test for fresh engine oil and used engine oil after vehicle driving (5000 km, 10000 km). The test result showed that the total acid number and wear scar by four-ball lest of used engine oil had increased than fresh engine oil, but 2 kind of used oil (5000 km and 10000 km) had similar physical properties.

Alcohol components are illegally mixed with petroleum products for tax evasion purposes, but this degrades vehicle performance. The alcohol content in petroleum fuel can be analyzed by gas chromatography. However, this technique requires a long analysis time and is expensive. CrO3, also known as Jones reagent, changes color upon reaction with an alcohol. In this study, therefore, we analyze alcohol contents in vehicle fuel by using CrO3 aqueous solution.
