An experimental study has been conducted to investigate the thermal behavior of laminar syngas/air mixture with 10% hydrogen content impinging normally to a flat plate of cylinder. Effects of impinging distance(H/d=0.8, 1.2, 1.6, 2.0, 3.0) as major parameters on surface temperature of radial direction were examined experimentally by the direct photos and data acquisitions from impinging plate. There were 1 times and 2 times of maximum peak point of radial direction with respect to the impinging distance for the investigation. Maximum temperature of stagnation point was investigated in H/d=0.8. As H/d is increased, the maximum peak point was moved in to the radial direction.

The characteristics of heat transfer, emissions and flame behaviors according to the equivalence ratio in impinging jet flame of syngas fuel with 10% hydrogen content were experimentally investigated. The equivalence ratio conditions from 0.7 to 5.0 have been conducted. The different flame shapes were understood through the direct photographies for different flame region. The adiabatic temperatures and burning velocities are calculated by Chemkin package. The experimental results of burning velocity have a consistent with previous work and numerical simulation, in entire region. but result is not correct. The thermocouple, heat flux sensor and exhaust gas collecting ring were used to investigate the characteristics of thermal and emission performance for impinging jet combustion of synthetic gas fuel burner. Temperature distributions of impinging plate surface and emission indices were shown as experimental results, and the NOx emission was also calculated to compare with experiment values.
