수면장애를 위한 LED 수면보조등 개발 ; Selling point와 Functional needs 분석을 중심으로

산업의 발전으로 인해 자연빛에 의존하던 삶의 중심에서 인공빛의 발전을 통해 인간의 삶은 산업활동을 연장할 수 있도록 변화해왔다. 다양한 산업의 등장으로 시간의 구애를 받지 않는 직업군들이 등장하며 다양한 수면장애를 유발하고 이에 수면용품 시장이 급격하게 증가하고 있다. 그러나 수면 장애 경험자를 대상으로 한 수면용품에 대한 개발 및 연구는 미비한 실정이다. 이에 본 연구에서는 수면장애 경험자를 대상으로 구매요인 및 수면보조등 사용시 필수기능을 파악하여 제품개발에 적용하기 위한 연구를 진행하였다. 먼저 LED 수면보조등 구입시 고려해야 될 요소(Selling point) 6가지와 개발시 고려해야 할 필수기능(Functional needs) 9가지 요소를 도출 한 후 의료계 종사자 중 수면장애 경험자들을 대상으로 설문을 진행하였다. 그 결과 기능과 디자인, 가격이 소비자의 구매결정에 영향을 미칠 수 있으며, 사운드시스템과 밝기조절이 가능한 디밍(dimming)기능 그리고 시간 및 알람기능을 필수기능 요소로 파악할 수 있었다. 이러한 연구를 통해 불필요한 기능의 개발투자비용과 소비자가 지불하는 비용을 줄이는 방법으로 제품을 개발함으로써 추후 많은 제품개발에 효율적인 방법으로 활용되어지길 기대한다. Human life has been changed to extend industrial activity through growth of artificial light depending of natural light by industrialization. By the emergence of various industries, there have been growing number of jobs that have flexible working hours and the market for sleeping goods is rapidly has been growing. However, studies or developments for people having sleep disorder are not sufficient. So this study found out the purchasing factors and essential functions while using sleeping lights from people with sleep disorder and conducted a research to apply the result to product development. First of all, after deducing 6 selling points to consider when purchasing LED sleeping lights and 9 functional needs to consider when developing them, a survey was conducted with those who are working in the medical circle with the experience of sleep disorder. The result showed that function, design, and price were factors that can affect consumers’ decision to purchase and sound system, dimming function that can control brightness, timer, and alarm were found to be essential elements. Based on the result of analysis, LED sleeping light for sleep disorder was developed including sound system with bluetooth, light dimming sensor, clock with function of alarm. Through this study, it is expected that products will be developed through a way to reduce development and investment cost and consumers’ expense for unnecessary functions, and that the process will be applied to the development of other products as an effective way.

인지적 어포던스를 적용한 디자인 개발 사례연구 ; 빛을 이용한 피드백 정보를 중심으로

최근 디자인분야는 사회, 문화적변화로 인해 기능과 실용성을 겸비한 감성과 경험중심의 디자인으로 추세가 변화하고 있다. 이에 디자이너는 제품을 개발함에 있어 디자인 의도와 사용자의 니즈가 일치 할 수 있도록 의도하여 디자인해야 한다. 디자인의 표현방법보다 사용자가 제품을 사용하며 경험하게 되는 어포던스가 적용된 디자인은 디자인의 본질적인 가치를 향상시키며, 새로운 관점으로 디자인의 문제를 해결할 수 있도록 한다. 이에 본 연구는 생태심리학과 인지심리학에서 활용하는 어포던스의 개념에 대한 이해를 바탕으로 어포던스를 적용한 제품 개발사례를 중심으로 연구되었다. 어포던스 디자인의 정보는 제품에서의 사용성을 구분하고, 지각과 인지의 개념에서 아이디어를 도출하여 디자인 프로세스에 적용하였다. 아이디어 도출과정에 인지적 어포던스 중 ‘가시화’와 ‘은유’를 활용하며, 물리적 어포던스에서는 어떠한 행동을 할 수 있도록 요소를 부여하여 행동을 유발하는 ‘가능성’을 적용하였다. 도출된 아이디어는 전기사용량을 LED를 활용하여 빛으로 표현되도록 하여 멀티탭 사용 시 문제가 되는 과전압, 사용량 절감의 문제를 동시에 해결 할 수 있는 기능적인 부분을 시각적으로 인지가 가능한 기능성 멀티탭이다. 어포던스의 효과적인 적용을 통해 사용자의 행동을 유발하여 멀티탭 사용의 문제점을 해소하고 사용자 스스로 제품을 지각하고 인지하는 소통의 문제를 해결할 수 있었다. 어포던스의 효율적인 적용을 통한 제품개발 사례를 통해 디자이너가 제품을 개발하는데 있어 어포던스 개념을 이해하고 활용하여 디자이너의 의도와 사용자의 니즈가 일치하는 어포던스 기획이 적절히 이루지는 사례로서 활용되어지길 기대한다. The recent trend of design field is changing into design focusing on sensitivity and experience combining function and practicality due to the change of society and culture. Thus, a designer, when developing a product, need to design it as its intention accords with users’ needs. Rather than expressing method of design, a design where affordance that users experience while using a product is applied enhances its fundamental value and makes the problem of a design able to be solved with a new perspective. Therefore, this research has been conducted focusing on product development example applying affordance, based on the concept of affordance that ecological psychology and cognitive psychology use. The information of affordance design classifies usability of a product, and an idea is deducted from the concept of perception and cognition to be applied into the design process. For idea deduction process, ‘visualization’ and ‘metaphor’ were used among cognitive affordance, and ‘possibility’ that induces action by assigning a factor to do an action was applied to physical affordance. The deducted idea is functional multiple taps where functional part, that can solve overvoltage and reduction in usage which matters when using multiple tap at the same time, can be recognized visually by expressing electricity usage with LED light. Through effective application of affordance, users’ action could be induced to solve the problem of multiple tap usage, the problem of communication could be solved where users perceive and recognize the product by themselves. With the product development example through effective application of affordance, it is expected that it can be used as an example to make people understand and use the concept of affordance when a designer develops a product, so that an affordance plan where designer’s intention and users’ needs are accorded is conducted properly.
