Residual stress relief by pulse magnetic treatment is attractive because the process is carried out at room temperature and magnetic fields that are easy to produce and control can be used. This study shows that strong pulse magnetic treatment can lead to stress relaxation of structural steels instead of a conventional heat treatment process. And it makes a comparative study about pulse magnetic treatment and tempering by using Larson-Miller equation. When the specimen was subjected to a pulse magnetic treatment process the residual stress in the specimen was reduced by about 13.8%. It could be compared with tempering at 200℃ for 2hours by using thermal effect of Larson-Miller equation. As a result, it is considered that the pulsed magnetic treatment have an effect of the stress relation by tempering at 200℃ for 2 hours.

The localized corrosion behavior associated with microstructure of F53 super duplex stainless steel (SDSS) was investigated using a potentiodynamic polarization test, a critical crevice temperature test, an electron probe micro-analyzer analysis, and scanning electron microscopy-energy dispersive spectroscopy analyses. Crevice corrosion was initiated at the α/γ phase boundaries, MOx inclusions (where M is Cr, Mn, Al, Fe, or Ti), as well as Cr and Mo depleted areas adjacent to the σ-phases precipitated in the F53 SDSS alloy. This alloy had been annealed at 1050 ℃ followed by improper water-cooling, and the corrosion was propagated into the α-phases because the pitting resistance equivalent number (PREN) of the α-phase was smaller than that of the γ-phase. As cooling rate increased, the variation of the α-phases decreased, and the content of the Cr and Mo rich σ-phases decreased, thereby increasing the corrosion resistance.

N/A Background : Induction of coagulation necrosis by using thermal energy sources such as radio-frequency (RF), microwaves and lasers has recently been as a new, minimally invasive technique for percutaneous tumor ablation. RF ablation is considerd effective and safe for the local control of small HCCs. The aim of this study is to evaluate the therapeutic efficacy and complications according to the diameter and location of the HCC. Methods : Between May 1999 and December 2000, one hundred fifty patients underwent RF thermal ablation in Dong-A university hospital. Among them, forty nine patients were enrolled in this study who have no history of prior other treatment including hepatic resection, TAE, PEI, and chemotherapy, also who have follow-up CT performed at least six months after ablation. The patients devided into two groups, who have small HCC (.3 cm in diameter) and the others. Recurrence rate was also evaluated with spiral CT performd at least six months after treatment. Results : In large HCC group (>3 cm in diameter), the mean follow-up duration was 10.8 months and local recurrence rate was 51.0%?12.4. In small HCC group (.3 cm in diameter), the mean follow-up duration was 12.7 months. Local recurrence rate was 16.2%?8.6 in patients with small HCC. Among one hundred fifty patients underwent radio-frequency thermal ablation, 5 cases of intraperitoneal bleeding, 5 cases of pleural effusion and 3 cases of pneumothorax were observed. In most of cases, the necrotic area of HCC reached to the capsule of liver or located in hepatic dome. Conclusion : Radio-frequency ablation appears to be more effective and safe for the treatment of small HCC than that of large HCC and more attetion must be given to the RF ablation if the tumor is larger than 3cm or located close to the capsule of liver or in hepatic dome.
