A new scheme to estimate the moment of inertia in the motor drive system in very low speed is proposed in this paper. The simple estimation scheme, which is usually used in most servo system for low speed operation, is sensitive to the variation of the machine parameter, especially the moment of inertia. To estimate the motor inertia value, Reduced-Order Extended Luenberger Observer (ROELO) is applied. The effectiveness of the proposed inertia identification method using the RORLO is verified by simulation and experiment.

The KSAE Baja, a race held by Korean Society of Automotive Engineers annually, designated a weight regulation. So the most important factor is the engine’s performance. For this, the engine’s components need modification and after this tuning , it needs the optimization procedure of fuel control and ignition timing due to the change of the air flow. This research is to apply the electronic control system to the mechanical control system, the carburetor, and modify the engine’s components to gain more performance.

Tracked vehicles are mainly operated in severe environment, and equipped with an engine, transmission ad steering unit integrated system called power pack. This research is to analyze the performance of tracked vehicle by studying the inner power flow of the power pack. By analyzing the power flow inside the power pack, drive performance and studied on applying the multi-stage torque converter instead of the conventional torque converter. For this, the structure, performance characteristics, flow characteristics of the torque converter are researched.
