This paper compared a Modified C-dump converter and energy efficient converter topologies, derived from the conventional C-dump converter, for switched reluctance motor (SRM) drives The proposed topologies overcome the limitations of the conventional C-dump converter, and could reduce the whole cost of the SRM drive. Also, the above converters have simple control requirements, and allow the motor phase current to free wheel during chopping mode. Specially, the voltage ratings of the dump capacitor and some of the switching devices in the proposed an Energy efficient C-dump converter is reduced to the supply voltage (V-dc) level compared to twice the supply voltage (2V-dc) in the conventional C-dump converter. Simulation and experimental results of the proposed converters are presented and verified.<br/> <br/>

Information of rotor position is necessary to drive Linear Switched Reluctance Motor(LSRM). Therefore, linear optical encoder is used to detect a mover position. Normally, since the price of encoder, which is used for linear motor is relatively higher than the one used for rotory motor and the cost of additional equipment increases with the length of motor. As a results, LSRM has a great part for the total cost. In this paper, as using reflective type photo-sensors, it replaced the expensive linear encoder.

본 논문은 부하에 대한 빠른 응답특성을 보이는 새로운 토폴로지를 제안하였다. PI제어기 출력이 포화될 때 windup 현상이 나타나고 그 결과로 성능이 저하된다. 따라서 전동기의 가변속 제어성능을 위해 가속시에는 개선된 Anti-windup PI제어기만을 사용하고, 감속시에는 추가로 부하의 특성을 고려하여 braking 동작을 사용하였다. 시뮬레이션 및 실험결과는 속도성능면에서 제안된 방식이 종래의 다른 제어방식에 비해 우수함을 보여 준다.
Single Sensor를 이용한 3상 Slotless PM BLDC 전동기의 속도제어

Slotless Permanent magnet Brushless DC Motor(PM BLDC) with the characteristics of high speed and high power density has been more widely used in industrial and automatic machine. Generally, PM BLDC moter is necessary that the three Hall-ICs evenly be distributed around the stator circumference in case of the 3 phase motor. The Hall-ICs are set up in this motor to detect the main flux from the rotor. therefore the output signal from Hall-ICs is used to drive a power transistor to control the stator winding current. However, instead of using three Hall-ICs, if only we used one Hall-IC, we estimate information of the others phase in sequence through a revolving rotor. This paper identified the characteristics and performance by using one Hall-IC for the 3 phase PM BLDC whose six stator and two rotor designed.

Generally, Slotless PM BLDC drive system is necessary that the three Hall-ICs evenly be distributed around the stator circumference and encoder be installed in case of the 3 phase motor. So, the Hall-ICs are set up in this motor to detect the main flux from the rotor, and the output signal from Hall-ICs is used to drive a power transistor to control the winding current. However, instead of using three Hall-ICs and encoder, we used only two Hall-ICs for the permanent magnet rotor position and for the speed feedback signals, and also for a microcontroller of 16-bit type (80C196KC) with the 3 phase Slotless PM BLDC whose six stator and two rotor designed. Two Hall-IC Hc and HB are placed on the endplate at 120 degree intervals, and with these elements, we can estimate information of the others phase in sequence through a rotating rotor.

Recently, SRMs are used in automobiles for power assistant steering, accessory motion control and traction drives. Especially in the motion control and traction drives, safety and efficiency are of paramount important. The paper describes the essential elements, faced in designing and constructing drive circuits for a switched reluctance motor for automobiles<br/> These converters will be referred to as energy efficient C-dump converter and modified C-dump converter. Energy efficient C-dump converter topology eliminate all the disadvantages of the C -dump converter without sacrificing its attractive features, and also provide some additional advantages that have lower number of power devices, full regenerative capability, free-wheeling in chopping or PWM mode, simple control strategy, and faster demagnetization during commutation. The experiments are performed to verify the capability of proposed control method on 6/4 salient type SRM.<br/>

Since rotor position information is necessary to drive the SRM, absolute-encoder, resolver and incremental encoder is used to detect a rotor position. But, it is not desirable to use a high price encoder and microprocessor under the condition of the simple driving system when precision control is not demanded. In this paper, only using the reflective type two photo-sensors replaces the conventional opto-interrupter and slotted-disk, which not only remove a slotted-disk section but drive three-phase 6/4 pole SRM bidirectionally. Therefore, control circuit can compose common analog device with low price.
