        동태적 범위의 경제에 관한 연구 : 복합농가의 다각화 전략을 중심으로

        This paper introduces the concept of dynamic economies of scope to account for farmers’ inter-temporal diversification strategy. Using the Bellman equation with a normalized quadratic (NQ) value function, we devise an index measuring scope economies with the consideration of dynamic adjustment cost. For this study, we apply dynamic programming to the case of Korean farmers producing multi-outputs of agricultural, livestock, and other products. The index titled as dynamic economies of scope (DES) is calculated via NQ value functions with parameters of conditional factor demand functions estimated by nonlinear three-stage least squares (NL3SLS). Results show that there exist dynamic scope economies. Farmers with more specialized skills or larger scale land tend to prefer specification strategy than diversification strategy.

        기상변인을 고려한 채소가격 예측모형 개발

        Both farmers and consumers can benefit from the provision of more accurate price forecasting in unstable vegetable market. Focusing on the role of climate factors, which is expected to impact on vegetable price, this study develops price forecasting models for napa cabbage using Bayesian Structural Time Series (BSTS) and Vector Autoregressive (VAR) approaches. Across forecasting models, we show the consideration of climate factors enhances forecasting power significantly compared to pure time series models. BSTS and VAR can be used mutually complementarily by providing various forecasting scenarios based on market conditions.

        농식품 소비 트렌드 기반 작목 선택 예측 모형

        This study develops a crop selection prediction model using agricultural and food consumption trend. Under the expected utility hypothesis (EUH), we devise a crop selection mechanism where farmers choose crops providing the maximum expected utility from their profit. Then, feed forward neural network (FFNN) model is used for the prediction of the expected utility, and vector autoregressive (VAR) model is constructed with atypical Big Data based on web-based text query concerning consumption trend. We apply models to the exclusive consumption trend panel data provided by the Rural Development Administration (RDA) for six specific regions. Empirical results show that various crops are predicted to provide the maximum expected utility and that the prediction model can be improved by considering atypical Big Data.

        묵은지 저장사업에 관한 연구 : 묵은지 소비규모 추산 및 저장사업의 타당성 여부를 중심으로

        Napa cabbage is a representative excess-supply vegetable. To adjust unstable supply-and-demand, the government considers a storage service for longterm fermented Kimchi (Meukeunji), which extends storage periods of napa cabbage by commercializing Meukeunji under market mechanism. However, associated analyses are impeded due to lack of empirical data. We focus on estimating consumption market size of Meukeunji using survey data gathered from consumers and restaurants. Additionally, we calculate annual storage expense and evaluate economic validity of the commercialization by comparing storage-expense with disposal-expense for napa cabbage under various hypothetical scenarios concerning harvest rates and storage periods for Meukeunji. Results show that the commercialization of Meukeunji is economically infeasible unless storage-expense is paid from at least 4.44 times to at most 18.49 times than disposal-expense by the government.

      • 농생명산업 바이오테크놀로지 융ㆍ복합 R&D 클러스터 분석

        본 연구는 농생명산업 분야 바이오테크놀로지 융·복합 R&D가 4차 산업혁명 시대에 얼마나 부합하는지를 분석하여 관련 시사점을 제시하고자 하는데 그 목적을 둔다. 이를 위해 농촌진흥청의 ‘농촌진흥사업 종합관리시스템(ATIS)’에서 2013년부터 2018년까지 수행된 2,797개 R&D 과제들을 발굴하고 4차 산업혁명의 키워드로 대두되는 인공지능(AI), 사물인터넷(IoT), 사이버 물리 시스템(CPS), 빅 데이터(Big Data)에 대한 텍스트 마이닝 기법을 활용하여 정량지표를 산출한다. 나아가 추출 및 집계된 R&D 과제 데이터베이스 및 정량지표를 대상으로 다차원척도법(MDS)을 적용하여 융ㆍ복합 R&D 과제들이 세부 기준에 따라 어떠한 클러스터를 형성하는지를 파악한다. MDS를 통한 최종 분석 결과는 R&D 과제 간 유사성 및 비유사성으로 구분되어 시각적으로 도식된다. A multidimensional scaling (MDS) approach is used in analyzing similarities and/or dissimilarities among agricultural R&D projects based on various indices concerning a wave of the fourth industrial revolution. We draw 2,797 RFPs (Requests for Proposal) provided by Rural Development Administration via Agriculture Science Technology Information System from 2013 through 2018. Based on a text-mining method, we construct unique indices for consistency accounting for four key words such as artificial intelligence, big data, cyber physics system, and internet of things. Results show that the application of MDS to agricultural R&D projects with consistency indices illustrates how agricultural R&D projects are different or similar with each other in terms of the application of the fourth industrial revolution technologies.

        GAP인증 학교급식 농산물 선호도 분석:

        This study aims to investigate whether it would be possible to expand the supply of GAP certificate products through school meal programs. The conjoint analysis method is applied to the case of apple consumed in school meal programs by taking questionnaire to school dietitians in Chungbuk province of Korea. The following 4 factors are considered as attributes of products: pesticide and fertilizer (PF) management representing environment-friendly certification, critical control point (CCP) management representing GAP certification, GMO, and the price. Results show that the importance of attribute is evaluated to be the highest in the order of price, PF, GMO, and CCP, showing GAP certificate products are less used for school meal programs than environment-friendly products are. Dietitians with higher reliability for GAP certificate products are shown to put more emphasis on CCP than those with lower reliability. Results of k-means cluster analysis suggest CCP is considered most for dietitians pursuing middle-level price.

        농식품 기업의 인재 선택 요인 분석

        The primary objective of this study is to identify the factors affecting recruitment in agri-food companies for alleviating the imbalance between labor supply and demand. Data were collected based on a choice experiment, one of the stated preference methods. In the survey, participants are asked to make a choice among three different alternatives including one no-choice option and each alternative was described by eight attributes. Based on the results of a random parameter logit model with allowing the existence of preference heterogeneity, it was found that agri-food companies consider ‘Knowledge of agriculture and rural area’ as the most important factor and ‘Major in college’ as the second one when recruiting applicants. Surprisingly, the higher TOEIC scores can have a negative effect on getting a job.

        농사용 전기에너지 수요에 관한 연구* -벼농가의 전기수요를 중심으로-

        The agricultural use of electrical energy consumption keeps increasing due to its relatively lower price than those of oil, gas, and electrical energy uses in other fields. For its efficient allocation, it is necessary to investigate the current electrical energy uses in the field of agriculture. This study focuses on estimating the demand functions for agricultural uses of electrical energy. Using electricity- and oil- prices, demographic variables, and climate factors considering seasonality, we develop a pooled OLS model, a panel random effect model, and a quantile regression model with the application of Korean rice farm. Results show that estimated signs for most determinants have expected signs consistent with economic theories. Especially, results from quantile regression models demonstrate that price elasticities are monotonically decreasing as rice farms use more electrical energy, suggesting implications for policy makers concerning efficient electrical energy uses in agriculture, such as electricity price differentiation.

        이 논문은 다음과 같은 4가지 측면에서 농식품생명산업의 바이오기술 혁신이 갖는 함의를 살펴본다: (i) 바이오기술과 농업 및 생명 과학, (ii) 자원 및 환경 분야에서 바이오기술 혁신, (iii) 농식품생명산업에서 바이오기술 혁신을 위한 R&D, (iv) 4차 산업혁명과 바이오기술 혁신. 우리는 농식품생명산업에서 바이오기술 혁신은 4차 산업혁명 시대에 매우 강력한 기술 플랫폼을 제공함으로써 농식품생명산업의 성장, 농촌 사회, 그리고 우리나라 전체적 균형 발전에 기여할 것임을 주장한다. This paper investigates the implications of biotechnological innovation in agri-food bioindustry for the following 4 aspects: (i) biotechology and agricultural and life sciences, (ii) resources and environment with biotechnological innovation, (iii) R&D for biotechnological innovation in agri-food bioindustry, and (iv) the 4th industrial revolution and biotechnological innovation. We argue that biotechnological innovation in agri-food bioindustry offers a very strong technological platform in the era of the 4th industrial revolution, thus contributing to the growth of agri-food bioindustry and rural society, and a balanced growth of our country as a whole.
