In this paper, I will consider an old Japanese story, Momotaro, from the perspective of popular culture. The purpose of this essay is to compare different versions of the story, which were written by multiple authors from the 19th to the 21st century, from the viewpoint of readers (people), and to find out what the readers (people) wanted from the story and which version they preferred.Iwaya Sazanami and Kitamura Sumio described "Momotaro" as a modern hero, and the readers of the era considered Momotaro as a Japanese war hero. Akutagawa Ryunosuke narrated "Momotaro" from the point of view of an invader. and accepted the paradoxical content of the story as a parody. The readers only accepted the paradoxical story as a parody and neglected "Akutagawa's Momotaro".

This paper, an extension of the research on Japanese Elementary School National Textbooks, aimed to examine the descriptive aspects of the "Ako Incident" in the compilation of the Elementary History Textbook by the Joseon Governors’ Office. In particular, this study focused on analyzing and studying the meanings of "chushingura" in Japanese Elementary School National Textbooks that overlapped with the Emperor’s occupation period. According to the analysis, "Oishi Yoshio", a device to instill loyalty in Japanese hearts, reappeared in 1921 in the third period of the Shimsang Primary School History Textbook, second volume. In 1922, it was written in the same sentence as that of the Joseon Governor’s Office compilation of the second volume of the Elementary History Textbook. This is due to the Joseon education philosophy that was aggressively advocated by Saito’s Governor to strongly internalize traditional Japanese culture and history. This movement aimed to implant the Japanese spirit instead of the Korean spirit, metaphorically, this is similar to pulling out the roos of the Mugungwha trees in the schools and planting Sakura trees instead. The "Ako Incident", which symbolized ‘Oishi Yoshio’ directly appeared in the History Textbook of the Joseon Governor’s Office.
