발달장애학생을 위한 생활중심 전환교육의 효과 : 국내 집단설계연구의 메타분석

The purpose of this study is to analyze effects of life-centered transition program conducted on students with developmental disabilities. A total of 27 articles, including dissertations and peer-reviewed articles conducted in Korea, were selected and reviewed using meta-analysis. Effect sizes of studies were analyzed in terms of participant-related variables(type of school, level of school, intelligence quotient), outcome-related variables, continuous variables(chronological age, duration of program), and other categorical variables(type of article, type of group-designed). According to the study findings, the average effect size of overall life-centered transition program was 1.198 and statistically significant, which is considered as a large effect in terms of Cohen’s criteria. The analysis results by variables were as follows: 1) among participant-related variables, programs in special classes were more effective than in special schools by type of school, level of school produced a larger effect size in order of elementary, middle, high, and above majoring course, and intelligence quotient produced a larger effect size in order of above 70, less than 50, more than 50 and less than 70. 2) outcome-related variables produced a more significant effect size in order of social skills, occupational skills, self-determination, learning skills, housing management skills, and community use skills. 3) effect sizes in peer-reviewed articles were revealed as larger than dissertations by type of article, and type of group-designed produced a more significant effect size in order of experiment-control group post test, experiment-control group pre-post test, single group pre-post test. 4) continuous variables including chronological age and the duration of program both produced positive effect, whereas the duration of program was not statistically significant. From the results above, implications and suggestions for the further study were discussed.

The purpose of the present study was to analyze the effects of group-designed sociality interventions conducted on individuals with intellectual disabilities. For this study, 48 peer-reviewed articles including 903 people with intellectual disabilities were selected and analyzed using a meta-analysis. The effects of those studies were analyzed in terms of participant-related variables(affiliation, developmental period), intervention-related variables(type of programs, duration, number of sessions, time per sessions, group size), and outcome-related variables. As results, the average effect size of sociality intervention was 0.89, which is a large effect in terms of Cohen’s criteria, as well as statistically significant. The analysis results by variables were as follows. First, for the participant-related variables, students from inclusive classes and adults with intellectual disabilities produced the largest effect sizes. Second, for the intervention-related variables, therapeutic programs, programs conducted for 17-24 weeks, programs with over 30 sessions, programs conducted over an hour per sessions, and middle-sized group(8-14 students) interventions showed the largest effect size among each variable. Third, outcome-related variables produced a more significant effect size in order of compliance, peer-relations, academic skills, self-management, and assertion. From the results above, implications of this study and suggestions for the further research were discussed.
