Two English structures with noncanonical word-order, Topicalization and Left-dislocation, are positioned at left periphery and contain the differences of syntax. But these phrasal structures are considered the important meaning as English information-sructure(IS) in this paper. It is argued that topicalized elements have a contrastive IS-interpretation, while left-dislocated items are like regular topics. On the basis of these observations, a new framework for IS is proposed, supported by the features NEW and D(iscourse)-LINKED. As “contrast” is considered to be substantial for the proper distinctive feature of IS, it is integrated into the proposed architecture, as an additional d-linking character. This approach is judged to be an improved integration of various previous IS-architectures.

영어 유표적 어순의 담화화용적 기능과 영어 원어민의 인식

The purposes of this paper are two-fold: (i) to investigate discourse-pragmatic functions of the marked word order in English, resulting from such leftward movements as Topicalization, Focalization, Left-Dislocation and Locative Inversion, and (ii) to examine their recognition by English native speakers through a questionnaire with minimal pairs of English sentences of marked and unmarked word order. The results are as follows. The well-known ‘given-before-new’ principle is at work: the information related to the previous discourse or familiar to speakers and hearers tends to be placed sentence-initially. As for the minimal pairs of the sentences, the sentence of the marked word order has been found to have the functions of focussing or emphasizing, promoting a subject, and introducing a scene with a presentational focus with respect to focalization, left-dislocation, and locative inversion, respectively. In case of topicalization, the non-cannonical word order seems to indicate a contrastive focus in one case and a contrastive subject in another.

북한이탈주민에 대한 한국 개신교의 신자유주의 체제의 복음화 전략에 대한 비판적 연구

본 연구는 한반도 평화라는 시대의 과제 앞에서 북한이탈주민에 대한 개신교인의 인식과 신자유주의적 복음화 전략을 비판적으로 성찰하는 것을 목표로 한다. 한국 전쟁 이후 교회는 사회가 재건되고 경제적으로 성장하는 과정에서 북한 인권과 대북 지원에서 민간단체로는 가장 큰 역할을 해왔다. 한반도 평화와 복음화를 위한 헌신적 노력으로 인해 초기 북한이탈주민의 개신교인 비율이 현저하게 높은 것은 주지할만한 사실이다. 그렇지만 개신교 내에서 북한이탈주민에 대한 왜곡된 인식과 남북한 간의 사회문화적 이질감은 심각하다. 이런 상황에서 교회는 북한이탈주민을 남한 사람들과 동등한 인격적 존재가 아니라 계몽과 시혜의 대상으로 보고 북한 선교 및 교회 성장의 발판이자 복음의 선전 도구로 삼았다. 따라서 북한이탈주민에 대한 개신교의 태도를 비판적으로 성찰하는 것은 북한이탈주민에 대한 왜곡된 인식을 바로잡고 선교 방향을 포용적으로 설정함으로써 남북 화해와 평화를 도모하는 데 중요한 작업이 될 것이다. 교회는 한반도 평화 체제라는 시대적 요청에 부응하여 예수의 하나님 나라에 나타난 인정과 호혜를 기반으로 북한이탈주민에 대한 인식을 새롭게 하고 남북한의 공존과 상생을 위한 포용적 인식을 마련해야 할 것이다. 이것은 교회가 한반도 평화에 응답하는 자세이면서 동시에 평화 체제를 향한 사회 변화와 통합을 추동해내는 기독교적 가치관을 마련한다는 점에서 의의를 발견할 수 있다. This study aims to critically reflect on the perception of Protestants toward North Korean defectors and the neoliberal evangelization strategy in the face of the task of peace on the Korean Peninsula. Since the Korean War, the church has played the largest role as a private organization in North Korea’s human rights and aid to North Korea. It is noteworthy that the proportion of North Korean defectors who are Protestants is high due to the devoted efforts of Protestants. However, the distorted perception of North Korean defectors within Protestantism and the socio-cultural heterogeneity between South and North Korea is serious. The church viewed North Korean defectors as objects of enlightenment and benevolence, rather than equal beings with South Koreans in the neoliberal system, and used them as a means of national evangelization in North Korea. Therefore, critical reflection on the Protestant attitude toward North Korean defectors will be an important task in correcting the distorted perception of North Korean defectors and promoting inter-Korean reconciliation and peace. In response to the demands of the times for a peace regime on the Korean Peninsula, the church should renew its awareness of North Korean defectors based on the recognition and reciprocity shown in the kingdom of God of Jesus, and prepare an inclusive awareness for the Korean peace.
