Purpose: The purpose of this study was to investigate the degree of compliance with supportive periodontal therapy(SPT), to determine if any significant differences existed in the characteristics of compliant, erratically compliant and non-compliant patients and to identify reasons for poor compliance. Materials and methods: Four hundred five patients who initially visited between July 2003 and December 2004 and were treated until June 2005 were retrospectively evaluated for their compliance with SPT in terms of attendance for a recommended schedule of visits. Patients' compliance was classified as complete compliance(attended more than 80% of the recommended appointments), erratic compliance(attended less than 80% of the recommended appointments or discontinued) and non-compliance(did not return for SPT). Analysis was made for each group to correlate the degree of compliance with gender, age, smoking, distance between their houses and the hospital, disease severity, type of therapy, implant, plaque control instruction and systemic diseases. Tele research of erratically compliant and non-compliant patients was carried out to identify reasons for their poor compliance. Results: Only 24.7% of the patients were in complete compliance. The highest drop-out rate(32.4%) occurred in the first year. A significantly greater percentage of non-smokers and patients who finished plaque control instruction were in complete compliance. A significantly greater percentage of patients without implant and patients who had been treated by only scaling and root planing were in non-compliance. More males were found to be compliant with SPT, although this was marginally significant. There were no significant differences between compliant, erratically compliant and non-compliant patients with regard to age, distance, disease severity and systemic disease. The survey revealed that the main reasons for poor compliance with SPT were inconvenient location and insufficient time. Conclusion: Patients' compliance with SPT was poor and the highest drop-out rate(32.4%) occurred in the first year. Significant relationships were found between the degree of compliance and smoking, type of therapy, implant, plaque control instruction and gender.

In this paper, we present a night-time vehicle detection method using CNN (Convolutional Neural Network) classification. The camera based night-time vehicle detection plays an important role on various advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) such as automatic head-lamp control system. The method consists mainly of thresholding, labeling and classification steps. The classification step is implemented by existing CIFAR-10 model CNN. Through the simulations tested on real road video, we show that CNN classification is a good alternative for night-time vehicle detection.

The performance of the daylighting in buildings depends on building site and shape. As an energy saving design strategy, daylighting is a key issue in green building design. In this paper, the influence of the adjacent or obstructed building on daylighting performance of the office building in urban area was analyzed. A typical office building about 20 storeys with obstructed buildings has been modeled and simulated using Radiance. The parametric simulations have been performed to analyze the influence of the daylighting performance (illuminance, luminance) of the analyzed office. The results show that the possibility of the glare was decreased when the obstructed building is located in south, also the illuminance level was significantly decreased. When the obstructed building islocated in north, the changes of the illuminance level and luminance possibility were somewhat small compared to the unobstructed condition. The daylighting performance of the analyzed building was most affected by the obstructed building in winter season.

Today, most of building envelopes consist of glass curtain wall and it results in the increase of heating and cooling loads. It is important that controlling the building envelope to minimize the heating and cooling loads and to accomplish the sustainable building. Even though, there are calculation method for heating cooling load through building envelope, a few cases were reported for the calculation method considering the condition of shading device. In this study, the calculation method of indoor solar heat gain through building envelope with shading device will be reviewed and the proposed method will be suggested. Also, the suggested method will be validated with comparison study between field measurement and numerically predicted results.

These days, most of the office buildings control the illuminance level and the lighting energy using the dimming control system based on illuminance sensors. But the system is accompanied with many illuminance sensors and needs a lot of initial investment. In this study, the prediction equation for indoor daylighting illuminance distribution is proposed through the review for conventional research results and field measurements. In this paper, the proposed prediction equation will be validated with Radiance simulation method. The dependence of the solar altitude, azimuth and sky condition is analyzed by using the simulation.

The main purpose of this paper is to validate the prediction equation for interior daylight illuminance to the office buildings by field measurement. The prediction equation for interior daylight illuminance was validated to the office with all-glass. However, the performance of the daylight illuminance is affected by the window size and characteristics. In this study, the measurements of indoor illuminance were carried out at the different office in summer. The effect of the window size, roll blinds and interior materials on interior daylight illuminance was analyzed. The results show that the influences of the blind and indoor surface reflectance to the interior daylight illuminance aer high in small sized office.

These days, most of the office buildings maintain the required illuminance and save the lighting energy using the LED dimming control system based on illuminance sensors, but the system is accompanied many illuminance sensors to control lighting and needs a lot of initial investment. So, this study proposes about interior daylight illuminance equation for getting the illuminance distributions using the minimum illuminance sensor. In order to verify the validity of the equation, the reliability of the suggested equation is analyzed with a comparison study using the field measurement, and this study is the part of the study an artificial lighting control and lighting energy optimization.

In these days, most of the office buildings are being required to save energy for maintenance. Lighting system constitutes 20% to 30% of the total annual electrical energy consumption in office buildings. As an energy saving strategy for lighting system, dimming control system based on illuminance sensors came into use. But the system is accompanied with many illuminance sensors to control lighting and needs a lot of initial investment. In this study, the prediction equation for indoor daylighting illuminance distribution is proposed through the review for conventional research results and field measurements. The proposed equation was verified by the comparison between predicted results and field measurement results. The developed prediction equation for daylighting can be used to control the indoor illuminance level with the limited sensor when dimming control system is operated.

The main purposes of this paper are to investigate the influence of the adjacent building on indoor visual environment in office building in urban area. A typical office building under surrounding buildings has been modeled and simulated using Radiance. The parametric simulations have been performed to analyze the influence of the indoor visual environment (illuminance, luminance) of the office. The results show that the possibility of the glare was decreased when the adjacent building is located in south, also the illuminance level was decreased. When the adjacent building is located in north, the illuminance level was decreased, while the luminance possibility was somewhat increased.
