초등 통합교육 지원을 위한 특수교육보조원의 실태에 대한 질적 분석 : 강남구청 파견 사례를 중심으로

장애아동의 성공적인 통합을 위해 특수교육 보조원 배치의 중요성이 대두되었고 2002년부터 정책적으로 실현되는 단계에 있다. 그러나 통합지원 특수교육보조원에 대한 실태파악 및 역할규명에 대한 현장 적용적인 연구는 거의 없는 실정이다. 따라서 본 연구는 서울 특별시 강남구청 초등 장애아동 가족지원 사업에서 지원을 받아 통합학급에서 근무하고 있는 특수교육 보조원 10명을 대상으로, 질적면담 방법과 이에 대한 질적 자료 분석이라는 연구 방법을 도입해 좀 더 현장 중심적인 목소리를 제시하고자 하였다. 직접 면담을 통한 질적 분석을 통해 얻어진 주제는 다음의 7가지로 요약된다. 1) 보조원의 개인적 요인, 2) 특수교육보조원 제도, 3) 특수교육보조원의 역할, 4) 담임 교사와의 관계, 5) 특수학급과의 관계, 6) 부모와의 관계, 7) 특수교육보조원 제도 개선안. 이를 바탕으로 다음과 같은 점이 추후 실행 과제로 제안되었다. 1) 특수교육보조원의 전문성 향상을 위한 연수 프로그램 진행, 2) 특수교육보조원 제도 개선을 위한 법적 제도화 시행, 3) 특수교육보조원의 역할 정립과 담임교사와의 역할 경계 지침 마련, 4) 담임교사의 통합에 대한 인식변화와 자질 향상을 위한 지원, 5) 특수교육과의 상호보완적 위치의 확립, 6) 장애아동 부모에 대한 교육 프로그램의 강화, 7) 통합을 위한 인식 개선 프로그램의 실시. The inclusion became the basic educational rights for children with disabilities. In 2002, the paraprofessional system was actualized, who supported the inclusion of children with disabilities to general class. But studies on the picture and the role of paraprofessionals were rare, especially in Korea. So this study was intended to grasp the conditions of paraprofessionals and to develop the directions for this system. This study used the qualitative research method and interviews with the person with concerned, to convey the vivid voice of conditions of paraprofessional system. The interviews were focused on 10 paraprofessionals as followed contents : 1) personal informastion, 2) the reason to working as paraprofessionals, 3) practical role, 4) difficulties in paraprofessionals, 5) meaning worthwhile, 6) difficulties in inclusions, 7) in-service training program to receive. And the collected interview data were summarized as seven major themes, 1) personal variables of paraprofessionals, 2) system related issues of paraprfessionals, 3) roles, 4) relationship of parents, 7) direction for changes. According to the results, the implementation of in-service training programs who concerned, the role clarification of paraprofessionals and other suggestions were discussed as future directions.
