This is a study for the deformation and contact pressure of the squeezing roller used in the sizing processing industry. The deformation(roller bending) of a squeezing roller will affect the fiber property, the squeezing roller design insuring uniform contact pressure is very important. The improved squeezing roller model was obtained by changing the roller diameter, coating rubber thickness, sizing roller length and sizing roller support plate gap. As a result, the design parameters at which the deformation(roller bending) of roller was nearly uniform was found.

Since the knuckle, a core component for automobile suspension, directly supports the wheel, it needs strength and durability. Studies for improving durability of the knuckle have been done but most of them are focusing on knuckle for hollow type shape. The durability test has been conducted under a driving condition of lateral force mode, braking torque mode and steering input mode by using hydraulic actuator for spindle type steering knuckle of independent suspension applied for commercial vehicles. We’ve also carried out structural analysis and fatigue analysis by utilizing MSC.Patran, MSC.Nastran and MSC.Fatigue in order to compensate for weak parts of the knuckle upon the result of the test.

In the field of yarn dyeing, the method taken most generally is a type of package dyeing which uses a package of cheeses stacked on a spindle made of a perforated tube. For this kind of cheese dyers, leveling dyeing has been reported as the most vital problem to be solved due to the difficulty of dye penetration through cheeses, the color difference resulting from a pressure loss in the spindle and irregular dye supply into each spindle. The present study is focused on the development of new spindle design to ensure the uniform supply of dyeing liquid from the spindle to the cheese stack. The axisymmetric, incompressible, Navier-Stokes equations are solved for several spindle configurations, using a fully implicit finite volume scheme. The results obtained show that the uniformity of dye supply can be enhanced by using either a cone type spindle with a uniform array of porous holes or a straight spindle with a non-uniform one.
