      • 石膏保留灌腸으로 섬어를 동반한 熱秘 患者에 대한 증례보고 1례

        This study is performed to find out the Gypsum Fibrosum Enema Therapy has an clinical effect on constipation with delirium. A patient, who got hypertension and chronic constipation as the past history, was suffering from constipation, dipsia, headache, chest discomfort, nausea, fever, anorexia, sweating, insomnia and delirium. We treated the patient with ordinary oriental medical therapies like herb medicine and acupuncture but the symptom became worse. So we practiced Gypsum Fibrosum Enema Therapy. After that therapy, the patient had three times of evacuation and then delirium was disappeared. Gypsum Fibrosum Enema Therapy obtained the desired results such as neurtralizing poison, alleviation of fever and stability for us. In conclusionally, we found out Gypsum Fibrosum Enema Therapy have a clinical effect on constipation associated with delirium. So we could put to practical use about much fibrile disease through the Gypsum Fibrosum Enema Therapy.

        Gray Mold on Carrot Caused by Botrytis cinerea in Korea

        Gray mold caused by Botrytis cinerea was found on a carrot seedling in a greenhouse and a field at Daegwallryeong, Gangwon Province in 2007–2009. Symptoms included irregular, brown,blight, or chlorotic halo on leaves and petioles of the carrots. Fungal conidia were globose to subglobose or ellipsoid, hyaline or pale brown, nonseptate, one celled, 7.2–18.2 × 4.5–11 μm (12.1× 8.3 μm) in size, and were formed on botryose heads. B. cinerea colonies were hyaline on PDA,and then turned gray and later changed dark gray or brown when spores appeared. The fungal growth stopped at 35oC, temperature range for proper growth was 15–25oC on MEA and PDA. Carrots inoculated with 1 × 105 ml conidial suspension were incubated in a moist chamber at 25± 1oC for pathogenicity testing. Symptoms included irregular, brown, water-soaked rot on carrot roots and irregular, pale brown or dark brown, water-soaked rot on leaves. Symptoms were similar to the original symptoms under natural conditions. The pathogen was reisolated from diseased leaves, sliced roots, and whole roots after inoculation. As a result, this is the first report of carrot gray mold caused by B. cinerea in Korea.

        한방항암제의 세계화를 위한 전략

        Cancer is the leading cause of death worldwide and the most important cause of death in Korea. Many researches have been conducted for developing effective and safe anti-cancer drugs worldwide. Korean government recently declared to make traditional herbal medicine globally recognized and began to invest not a small budget for developing new promising herbal anti-cancer drugs. The pur- pose of this study is to investigate the scientific evidence of current Korean herbal medicines to be able to enter the world market through the studies of NEXIA. NEXIA (Rhus verniciflua Stokes), anti- cancer drug from traditional herbal medicine in Korea, has been used by Korean medicine physician legally without Ministry of Drug and Food Safety’s formal approval through a new drug approval system. We have found the studies on the NEXIA have not enough scientific evidence on safety and effectiveness due to lack of internal validity of the studies. In order to make our traditional herbal an- ti-cancer drugs successfully enter the world market, we have to establish effective system for evaluat- ing them through the world-widely recognized system such as clinical trial system of cancer drugs run by the U.S Food and Drug Administration. It should be prerequisite to establish sound evaluation system for safety and effectiveness of Korean herbal anti-cancer drugs for developing globally accept- able Korean herbal anti-cancer drugs.

        해수연결 배관계 소음감소기의 투과손실 측정에 관한 연구

        해수연결 배관계에서 발생되는 주요한 소음원은 함 내부 탑재장비의 원활한 작동을 위해 해수를 순환시키는 해수순환 펌프이다. 이러한 펌프에서 발생되는 토널 성분을 가지는 유체전달 소음은 적절한 소음감소기를 통해서 감소되어야 한다. 본 논문에서는 실험적으로 유체전달 소음감소기의 음향 투과손실을 측정하기 위해서 해수연결 배관계의 끝단 반사가 존재하는 경우 배관 내의 음파를 입사파와 투과파로 분리하는 전달함수 기법을 제안하였다. 제작된 소음감소기 시험시편에 대한 이론적 투과손실과 제안된 기법을 통해 측정된 투과손실이 관심 주파수 영역에서 잘 일치함을 확인함으로써 기법의 타당성을 검증하였다. The dominant source of noise in a sea-connected piping system is usually due to a seawater cooling pump which circulates seawater to operate onboard equipments normally, and so its water-borne noise with some tonal frequencies should be reduced using proper silencers. In order to obtain the transmission loss of water-borne noise silencers experimentally the present paper suggests a transfer function technique that acoustic wave in the piping system is decomposed into its incident and transmitted components when the reflection at the termination of the system exists. Good agreement in the interested frequency range with theory and the proposed technique shows the validity of the technique.

        Signal Detection of Imipenem Compared to Other Drugs from Korea Adverse Event Reporting System Database

        Purpose: To detect signals of adverse drug events after imipenem treatment using the Korea Institute of Drug Safety & Risk Management-Korea adverse event reporting system database (KIDS-KD). Materials and Methods: We performed data mining using KIDS-KD, which was constructed using spontaneously reported adverseevent (AE) reports between December 1988 and June 2014. We detected signals calculated the proportional reporting ratio, reporting odds ratio, and information component of imipenem. We defined a signal as any AE that satisfied all three indices. The signals were compared with drug labels of nine countries. Results: There were 807582 spontaneous AEs reports in the KIDS-KD. Among those, the number of antibiotics related AEs was 192510; 3382 reports were associated with imipenem. The most common imipenem-associated AE was the drug eruption; 353 times. We calculated the signal by comparing with all other antibiotics and drugs; 58 and 53 signals satisfied the three methods. We compared the drug labelling information of nine countries, including the USA, the UK, Japan, Italy, Switzerland, Germany, France, Canada, and South Korea, and discovered that the following signals were currently not included in drug labels: hypokalemia,cardiac arrest, cardiac failure, Parkinson’s syndrome, myocardial infarction, and prostate enlargement. Hypokalemia was an additional signal compared with all other antibiotics, and the other signals were not different compared with all other antibiotics and all other drugs. Conclusion: We detected new signals that were not listed on the drug labels of nine countries. However, further pharmacoepidemiologicresearch is needed to evaluate the causality of these signals.

        Tiul1 and TGIF are Involved in Downregulation of TGFβ1-induced IgA Isotype Expression

        TGF-β1 is well known to induce Ig germ-line α (GLα) transcription and subsequent IgA isotype class switching recombination (CSR). Homeodomain protein TG-interacting factor (TGIF) and E3-ubiquitin ligases TGIF interacting ubiquitin ligase 1 (Tiul1) are implicated in the negative regulation of TGF-β signaling. In the present study, we investigated the roles of Tiul1 and TGIF in TGFβ1-induced IgA CSR. We found that over-expression of Tiul1 decreased TGFβ1-induced GLα promoter activity and strengthened the inhibitory effect of Smad7 on the promoter activity. Likewise, overexpression of TGIF also diminished GLα promoter activity and further strengthened the inhibitory effect of Tiul1, suggesting that Tiul1 and TGIF can down-regulate TGFβ1- induced GLα expression. In parallel, overexpression of Tiul1 decreased the expression of endogenous IgA CSR-predicitive transcripts (GLTα, PSTα, and CTα) and TGFβ1-induced IgA secretion, but not GLTγ3 and IgG3 secretion. Here, over-expressed TGIF further strengthened the inhibitory effect of Tiul1. These results suggest that Tiul1 and TGIF act as negatively regulators in TGFβ1-induced IgA isotype expression.         Red Ginseng Extract Promotes the Hair Growth in Cultured Human Hair Follicles

        Ginseng has been shown to promote hair growth in several recent studies. However, its effects on human hair follicles and its mechanisms of action have not been sufficiently elucidated. This study aimed to investigate the hair growthpromoting effects of red ginseng extract (RGE) and its ginsenosides. The proliferative activities of cultured human hair follicles treated with RGE and ginsenoside-Rb1 were assessed using Ki-67 immunostaining. Their effects on isolated human dermal papilla cells (hDPCs) were evaluated using cytotoxicity assays, immunoblot analysis of signaling proteins, and the determination of associated growth factors. We examined the ability of RGE and ginsenosides to protect hair matrix keratinocyte proliferation against dihydrotestosterone (DHT)-induced suppression and their effects on the expression of androgen receptor. The in vivo hair growth-promoting effect of RGE was also investigated in C57BL/6 mice. Both RGE and ginsenoside-Rb1 enhanced the proliferation of hair matrix keratinocytes. hDPCs treated with RGE or ginsenoside-Rb1 exhibited substantial cell proliferation and the associated phosphorylation of ERK and AKT. Moreover, RGE, ginsenoside-Rb1, and ginsenoside-Rg3 abrogated the DHT-induced suppression of hair matrix keratinocyte proliferation and the DHT-induced upregulation of the mRNA expression of androgen receptor in hDPCs. Murine experiments revealed that the subcutaneous injection of 3% RGE resulted in more rapid hair growth than the negative control. In conclusion, RGE and its ginsenosides may enhance hDPC proliferation, activate ERK and AKT signaling pathways in hDPCs, upregulate hair matrix keratinocyte proliferation, and inhibit the DHT-induced androgen receptor transcription. These results suggest that red ginseng may promote hair growth in humans.
