Design of High-Gain Signal Amplifier Circuit for Prompt-Response Self-Powered Neutron Detector

Self-Powered neutron detectors (SPND) detect current generated from interaction of neutron flux with emitter materials. They are inside a reactor in NPP (Nuclear Power Plant), and currently used to monitor the output and control the operation. Since the signal level of prompt-response SPND is very small (-nA), an analog circuit is necessary to amplify the current signal, and to convert it into voltage. This circuit needs to perform an anti-aliasing function to reduce distortion at the stage of digital conversion. In this paper, a systematic design process for high-gain amplification circuit is presented. Based on error analysis of the circuit, parameters are selected to satisfy design requirements. A third-order anti-aliasing filter is designed. A prototype circuit is built. Measured performance of the circuit confirms that the circuit satisfies all design requirements and validates the efficacy of the design to be used in practical environments.

A maglev train is levitated by gap sensor, which measure the air gap between rail and electromagnet, and controlled constant range. The gap sensor is measure air gap from the rail that can be modified by external conditions. These condition, called jumps in this paper, have important effects on the ride comfort and stability of maglev train. Therefore irregularity of guideway surface should be monitored and managed. In this study, we designed the maglev system in 3-dof dynamic model and mathematical analysis were carried out using computer simulation.

This paper represents DSCT amplitude extraction algorithm for rotor position prediction of permanent magnet synchronous motor. Position of rotor including permanent magnet measured by linear hall sensor. Then hall sensor output result sinusoidal wave. When rotor eccentricity situation, amplitude of sinusoidal wave increase as rotor eccentricity. For this reason, amplitude of sinusoidal wave include radial direction information of rotor and to extract position information be necessary. Through computer simulation, we analyzed a performance of DSCT algorithm as one of amplitude extraction algorithm.
