The application of Dimethyl ether (DME) as an alternative fuel is recently studied. In this paper, the characteristics<br/> of DME spray were investigated in a combustion bomb under high temperature and pressure. To obtain this<br/> condition, a mixture composed of C2H2, O2 and N2 had burned in the combustion bomb as preliminary stage. Images<br/> of DME spray were taken with using a Mie scattering and Shadowgraph method under a evaporating condition and<br/> a non-evaporating condition. In a non-evaporating condition, spray angle was more wider and spray tip penetration<br/> length was more shorter under high ambient pressure than under low ambient pressure. Comparing with a nonevaporating<br/> condition, a development of spray tip penetration length of liquid phase was limited in a evaporating condition.
