The functions of college and university are ①research ②tea- ching ③preservation of knowledge and ideas ④extension services to the society. In order to fulfil these functions properly, the library should be equipped with library materials , building and facilities , and subject special librarians for the purpose of its mother institute. This paper is intended to analyze and investigate the college and university libraries in Korea , and presents 3 considerations for strengthening public services. These are as follows 1)The emphasis on the instruction in the uses of the library 2)The extension services of reference work. 3)Mutual cooperation among all the libraries and information centers.

The function of school library is. like any other organization. to work as the important organ in school and to accomplish needed educational aim effectively. In other word. school library is the essential organization of school education. It is an service organization to help and aid both student' s learning and teachers teaching. Also as the positive and active educational organization, it should gather necessary materials, arrange and store them. So it should be a reading- center for study and learning. I can analyze the educational function of school library into folIouing points : 1) school Library should be the center of studying, reading, and recreation. 2) school Library should be the place of reading- activity. learning- activity. and creating-activity. 3) school Library should choose and provide materials to attain the educational aim. 4) school Library should direct students to get necessary technique, attitude and knowledge for library use.

大學圖書館에 있어서의 情報資料構成

Since the year of 1950, libarianship in Korea have tended to put more emphasis on services rather than libary materials. But no library service can be rendered without a good collection. To build a good collection, a well organized acquisition p이icy in indispensable. Any acquisition p이icy statement shoued make clear at least the following five factors. 1) Objectives of the university 2) Objectives of the library 3) The location of responsibility for selection 4) The location of responsibility for the book funds 5) Those who participate in selection In the process of building a library collection, planning, putting the plan into practice, examination and evaluation of the results are a series of essential activities. Evaluation is a final stage and at the same a starting point. There is no single standard measuring device for evaluation, and several procedures shoued be used to obtain a more or less accurate picture of the status of the collection. Nowadays many universities, especially private ones, are in extreme financial difficulty, and since the library is expensive, it is often regarded as a burden to the university. Bearing this in mind, the librarians should take courage in building a good library collection for both present and future needs.

Audio-Yisual information may be inanimate and insignificant , but it can have great influence on 1earning and research , when it is collected , processed , and utilized. The purpose of this paper is to interprete the problems of Audio-Yisul information service , and to present a mode1 of Audio-Yisual department in the library , Audio-Yisual department is an important organ to accomplish the utilization of Audio-Yisual materill in the library , lt is an service organization to he1p and aid all library users. The result of this study is as follows 1) Audio-Yisual department should be organized in a11 kinds of library 2) ln the library , an indepent Audio-Yisual department is required to gain the desired educational aims as compared with the Audio-Yisual room controlled by any other department 23 3) The library should not p1ace an unqualified person in Charge of the Audio-Yisual department. 4) The librarian in charge of the Audio-Yisual room is required to do more professional works such as analysis of users , maintenace of the cooperation with users , and drawing up an effective management p1an. 5) lt is desirable that the Audio - Yisual department should collect all Kinds of Audio-Visual Nill terials and prepare the material with promptness and consistency. 6) An indepent budget for Audio-Visual materials from the budget for general materials is desired.

大學圖書館 利用指導

Since education all students in learning how to learn and how to adapt themselves to the changing society is the most desirable goal of deucation in the modern world, it is necessary that the library become an important part of the student’s learning activities. With the increase of recent collegé population, various new plans and researches are being progressed for the betterment of overall college deucation. As one of the concrete and specified research programs, more practical and effective instructional methods in the use of college and university libraries are being studied and planned actively in various countries in the world. This paper is to make a brief trace of the reasons why the user education is needed at the present situation, the kind and actual contents of today’s User Education. Finally, the present situation and the problems facing in the area of library user education in our country are carefully examined, comparing with the ones of other foreign countries. Also, some possible suggestions and solutions' are made for the development and improvement of library User Education our country.

圖書館의 相互協力에 관한 小考

This paper intend to analyze and review the inter- Iibrary cooperation, then to present several problems. Today information is a national resources, perhaps our most important national resources, and then government should recognize this and develop a national policy for the effective management and use of information. Traditionally the library has play a rather passive role in selecting, acguiring, preserving and transfering information. Now we have faced greater, more diverse and urgent demend from users and we have to cope effectively with a massive increase in volume and cost in selecting, acguiring, storing and retrieving information. The solution of these problems is a cooperation through inter-library cooperation and national planning for it. Followings are the methods of increasing inter- library cooperation. 1. The unified organization should be organized its cooperative quarter for itself. 2. Every library should be organized his quarter and personnel for the inter-library cooperation. 3. Financial problems reguired of the performance in the inter- library cooperation should be charged equally among the member libraries in the system. 4. The purchase of materials should be done by the character of the each library with assignment of each subject field. 5. The budget for purchasing per the year should be decided on the minimum by the circumstances of each library. 6. The Central National Library should be charged of national union catalog’s expense. 7. The cooperation of the each library should be decided on the law, and considered the character of the each region.

圖書館業務의 電算化에 關한 硏究

Judging from the rapid increase of amount and diversity of the format of infor- mation, the development of computer industry, and the role of the library as one of information management system, the task of library automation is given to the librarian living in this information age as a mission of the times. The Purpose of this study is to build a general principles for the computerized information processing in library, especially to lay on the methods and require- ments on the automation of various routine-works in library. The results of the study can be summarized as follows (1) The prompt and accurate process of library automation system is possible. (2) Computerized librarv system should be performed by the principles of faceted works. (3) Some impediment factors such as the diversity of system and the lack of st- andard forms of bibliographic record should be eliminated. (4) Automation system in library should be planned as a subsystem of a total system and moreover as a link of library network of national and internation- al level. (5) Though the economy and efficiency of automation system can't be measured in the visible and direct way, it can be sufficiently justified by promoting the more effective and close interaction between the system and the use.
