지속가능한 적정기술을 위한 혁신 시스템 : 혁신 요소의 탐색

본 연구는 지속가능한 적정기술을 위해 시스템적인 접근 방법이 필요하다고 보고, 사회기술시스템을 적용하여 새로운 적정기술의 개념틀(conceptual framework)을 제시해보고자 하였다. 적정기술을 단순한 기술 이전 사례로 보는 기존의 접근은 지속가능한 적정기술을 위해 고려해야할 사회과학적 요소를 다루지 못하는 문제점이 존재했다. 반면 본 연구 에서는 시스템적 접근을 통해 사회적 맥락을 함께 고려하여, 기존에 고려하지 못했던 적정기술의 중요 요소들을 새롭게 제시하였다. 적정기술의 중요 요소로는 기술, 자본, 인력, 자원, 교육, 분배, 문화, 유지·보수가 있으며 사례를 통해 이 요소들의 유효성을 확인하였다. 이번 연구는 향후 더 구체적이고 체계적인 논의를 위한 기초연구로 기본적인 적정기술의 이론적 틀을 제시한다는 점에 의의가 있다. This paper aims to suggest a conceptual framework for sustainable appropriate technology by applying socio-technical system. Existing discussions of appropriate technology have failed to consider appropriate technology in a comprehensive way and limited its scope to only the technology itself. Thus, it was difficult to attain sustainability of appropriate technology. However, by the systematic approach, we were able to consider social context and newly propose important factors of appropriate technology. The factors are technology, capital, labor, resources, education, distribution, culture, and maintenance. We examined the effectiveness of the factors with some appropriate technology cases. This work would provide fundamental theoretical framework for further research.

적정기술의 효율적 관리를 위한 적정기술 현지 참여 및 교육 방안 연구

적정기술에 의해 형성된 자원이 지속적이고 효과적으로 운영되기 위해서는 효과적인 사후 관리가 필요하다. 효과적인 사후 관리를 위해서 적정기술 공여국 공여기관의 지속적인 관리도 중요하지만, 시간과 공간의 문제로 쉽지 않은 실정이다. 따라서 적정기술을 설계하고, 이를 설치하는 단계에서부터 현지 수여기관이 자립적으로 효과적인 관리를 할 수 있도록 하는 방안을 고민할 필요가 있다. 본 연구는 서울대 글로벌 사회공헌단이 베트남 빈딘 지역에 설치한 빗물과 우물 정수 처리 시설 사례를 바탕으로 적정기술 자원의 효율적 관리 방안을 연구하고자 한다. 독립변수로 기술 준비 및 설치, 현지 참여 및 교육, 관리 난이도 등의 요인 등을 두고, 이러한 변수의 차이에 따라 지속적인 관리가 이루어지는지를 사례 간 비교 연구를 통해 파악하였다. 사례 비교 연구 결과 다른 변수보다 현지 참여 및 교육 요인이 중요하다는 것을 파악하였다. 본 연구는 향후 적정기술의 효율적 관리를 위한 적정기술 현지 참여 및 현지 교육과 기술 개발에 도움이 될 것이다. Effective post-management is needed to ensure sustainable and effective operation of resources formed by appropriate technologies. For effective post-management, proper management of donor agencies is also important, but it is not easy with time and space issues. Therefore, from the stage of designing the appropriate technology and installing it, the local host organization should consider how to manage it effectively and independently. The purpose of this study is to study the efficient management of appropriate technology resources based on the cases of rainwater and well water purification facilities in Bindin, Vietnam, which was installed by the Institute for Global Social Responsibility of Seoul National University. The results of this study are as follows. First, we analyzed the factors such as technical preparation and installation as independent variables, local participation, education, and management difficulty. Case study shows that local participation and education factors are more important than other variables. This study will contribute to local participation of appropriate technology and local education and technology development for efficient management of appropriate technology.

On account of multiple causes, including prolonged global economic crisis, addressing environmental pollution and the advent of hyper-connected society, a new paradigm called sharing economy has rapidly emerged. Many startups have attempted to build promising business model based on the sharing economy concept. Nevertheless, successful cases are still very rare in the global level, except for Uber and Airbnb cases. Therefore, this study analyzes necessary causes and sufficient causes for successful settlements in the market through a comparative case analysis on digital matching firms in the sharing economy businesses. For the case study, we compare five successful cases (Uber, Airbnb, Kickstarter, TaskRabbit and DogVacay), three failure cases (Homejoy, Ridejoy and Tuterspree) and a platform cooperativism case (Juno) in accordance with six value attributes of business model including value proposition, market segment, value chain, cost structure and profit potential, value network and competitive strategy. We apply Boolean method to support controlled comparison and eliminate unnecessary attributes. The Boolean analysis result shows that value proposition, cost structure and profit potential, value network and competitive strategy are the essential attributes. Furthermore, the result indicates that each attribute is a necessary condition, where all four conditions should be met simultaneously in order to be successful. With this result, we discuss essential consideration for those who are planning startup based on the sharing economy business model.
