Numerical analysis using finite volume method has been carried out to examine the effect of degree of superheat of LiBr aqueous solution on heat and mass transfer occurred in absorption process. According to the result of this study, it was found that refrigerant vaper was generated at the entrance region of absorber when LiBr aqueous soltion was superheated. As the degree of superheat increases, heat transfer rate increases and vapor absorption rate decreases. The increase in averaged Nusselt and Sherwood numbers could be found as film Reynolds number increases. The larger the degree of superheat, the greater the averaged Nusselt and Sherwood numbers.

An experimental study has been performed to identify the evaporation characteristics of HCFC-22 for transport refrigeration system. Heat transfer coefficients were measured in a horizontal, smooth evaporating tube with an inner diameter of 10.7mm and a length of 2.8m. The refrigerant was heated electrically by surface-wrapped heaters and uniform power is applied along the tube. The entire tube was divided into 7 sections. Surface temperatures of tube and refrigerant temperature in each test section were measured. Pressure drops in each section and the inlet pressure were also measured. The mass flowrate of the refrigerant was controlled and measured. A single tube evaporation test was conducted for different ranges of mass flux of refrigerant, heat flux of evaporator and condensing temperature of transport refrigeration system. The evaporation heat transfer coefficients of HCFC-22 were compared with predictions from the well known Chen's correlations. Averaged heat transfer coefficients in this experiment range from $2kW/m^2/^{\circ}C$ to $3kW/m^2/^{\circ}C$. Most of the experimental results differ from the predicted ones by less than ${\pm}30%$.

An absorption heat pump cycle has been modeled and simulated to analyze the system performance of water-cooled, series-flow, double-effect absorption heat pump, which can be applied to a direct gas fired cooling system with the medium range of cooling capacity (15RT level). Effect of absorption cooling system parameters, such as concentration difference, inlet temperature of cooling water, 1st generator temperature, leaving temperature differences of condenser and evaporator and efficiency of solution heat exchanger, has been investigated in the view of system cooling performance.

Experimental study on air ionization phenomena has been conducted to analyze the propagation behavior and dischargeability of polarity air ions under the super clean room environments with the operation of prototype of Air Ionization System. Varying humidity and air velocity, the distribution of air ion density and the discharge time are measured and analyzed.
