      • 영어교육 전문가들의 요건들

金富子 한국영어교육연구학회 2000 영어교육연구 Vol.- No.20

English has been virtually become an international official language long since. Therefore, we are placing great emphasis on the necessity of English education, and that of English education experts is being highlighted. The purpose of this paper is to discuss three requisites for an English education expert. An English education expert must have a good knowledge of the difference between English and Korean so that he may help an English learner overcome an obstacle to English learning which is due to his mother tongue. Only if an English education expert can apply a linguistic theory to English education, an English learner can grasp the characteristics of modern English properly and understand its structure correctly. In these days of multimedia, an English education expert must be capable of pressing the computer and internet into the service of English education. I would like to stress that not every man who has a good command of English can be an English education expert. Only a man with considerable knowledge and skills which are necessary to English education such as a knowledge of the difference between English and Korean, the ability for practical application of a linguistic theory and the ability to utilize the computer in English education can be called 'an English education expert.'

We live in the age of computers which are symbolic of modern civilization. And English, the first international language, has become a tool for surviving in the international competitive society. Therefore we cannot but take an interest in a computer and English education. This paper attempts to show that it is possible for a computer to play a big role as an aid to English language learning. The projects which Stanford University, Illinois University, and Dartmouth College developed became the main current of the advancement of CALL(Computer-Assisted Language Learning). CALL is based on the program pedagogics. The advantages of CALL are as follows. Firstly, a computer makes English language learning in a multimedia environment possible. Secondly, a computer and a learner can interact in CALL. Thirdly, in CALL, individual learning and self-study are conducted. Fourthly, a teacher can refer to the data on a learner's progress which are stored by a computer. CALL can be employed profitably to learn a vocabulary. A computer makes a learner learn to reply in an actual situation by dragging a learner into a dialogue. In the case of a question on grammar, a computer can immediately react to a learner's response. In order to promote the use of CALL, a learner's physical environment should be comfortable and it is necessary that a learner should use a program with ease. And a teacher has to make a constant study of a computer. A computer is a valuable educational aid which is helpful to both a teacher and a learner. That is, we can come to the conclusion that CALL is an educational medium with great possibilities.

      • 음성 언어와 문자 언어의 통합적 영어교육

金富子 한국영어교육연구학회 2001 영어교육연구 Vol.- No.23

There is a tendency to lay great emphasis on listening and speaking and to neglect reading and writing somewhat. The most important one in English language learning is the knowledge of English structures which makes it possible for students to create English new sentences for themselves. The difficulty in listening is produced by the unfamiliarity with English structures, which has its origin in Korean reading way that understands reading contents from right word to left word in a sentence. I think American reading way that understands reading contents from left word to right word in a sentence can increase students' English listening proficiency. And writing can help students learn syntactic patterns of English thoroughly and develop their ability to create new sentences. That is, writing can serve as helpful props for acquiring speaking skills. In conclusion, my opinion is that English language teaching approach attaching importance only to listening and speaking is undesirable and that English language teaching approach combining listening, speaking, reading and writing should ensure success in having a good command of English.

재일동포 여성의 생활과 남북통일에 대한 의식

김부자 이화여대 한국여성연구소 1995 여성학논집 Vol.12 No.-

This report attempts to analyze the situation and consciousness of Korean women residing in Japan based on a questionnaire given to them on their life, racial awareness, feeling towards their mother country and their view on the unification of North and South Korea. The questionnaire was taken vetween Aug. 1st to Oct. 15th, 1995 from 207 Korean women of South Korean, North Korean and Japanese nationalities residing in Japan. As of 1993, there are 682,276 Koreans of South Korean and North Korean nationalities, and over a million if we include those of Japanese nationality residing in Japan. It can be said that those of Korean origin living in Japan are in a unique situation. The reason for them residing in Japan is the same as those in China and Russa in that it was caused by the colonization by Japan. However their situation is quite unique since they continue to hold their mother nationality while those in other countries (including those immigrated to the U.S.) obtain the nationality (citizenship) of the country they reside in. The unique historical relationship of suzerain-colony in the past has not yet been cleared and such as the persistent exclusivism of the Japanese society is the background for the difficulty for those of Korean origin to live in the Japanese society. Due to limited distribution and collection time, the questionnaire was given to those 207 people belonging to active groups and their associates. Therefore it can be said that those women who replied have relatively high racial awareness and are quite active towares the unification of North and South. We will look at the traits of each item in the questionnaire. 1. Concerning womin's life: It was revealed that the distinction of gender foles, “men work outside and women take charge of housekeeping and child rearing”are remaining persistently regardless of whether the woman has a career or not. 2. Consciousness of their own race: Half of those replied say they can not read or write their mother language but most of them state as a reason that they did not have the opportunity to learn it. In fact, since educational system concerning racial identity is not established in the Japanese society or school system, it is difficult to learn the language on one's own unless he/she attends a Korean school or actually study in Korea. Also many responded that they use their Japanese name in the Japanese society or distinguish the use of their Korean name and Japanese name. However, as for their identity many of those in younger generation feel that their consciousness is that of a Korean and feel they are in a unique situation different from those in the mother country although they can not speak the language and have Japanese names. 3. Views on their motherland: More than half of those replied say that they consider both North and south as their motherland. 4. Opinion on the unification of North and South: Most people responded say that the unification is necessary (223 for, 48 against. Note: some gave both replies). The separation of the motherland has a serious impact on Koreans living in Japan as well. The impactcan be summarized in the following 3 points. (1) Family members of those living in Japan are also spread in South, North and Japan and those with South Korean nationality can not visit the North and those of North Korean nationality can not visit the South. (2) Koreans living in Japan can not unite to fight against discrimination against them in Japan. (3) Right and legal status of Koreans can not be improved in the Japanese society. Korean women in Japan feel that the following activities are necessary for the unification: “a smoother communication and social exchange between the North and South,”“establishment of communication and a network among Korean women living in Japan, the North and South and other foreign countries”and“education on racial identity.” Ⅰ. 머릿말 Ⅱ. 재일동포의 정형 Ⅲ. 재일동포 여성에 대한 설문조사 결과 1. 일반적인 내용에 대한 사항 2. 여성의 생활에 대한 사항 3. 민족에 대한 생각 참고문헌 영문초록
