음식문제는 현재 환경윤리학계의 중요한 쟁점이다. 이글은 먼저 현대 식량체계의 근간이 되는 산업형 농업을 개괄하고, 그것의 문제점을 살펴볼 것이다. 둘째, 산업형 농업에 대한 대안으로 부상하고 있는 유기농업의 가능성을 살펴본다. 셋째, 유기농업의 철학적 배경으로 최근 등장하고 있는 농경주의와 목가주의가 시사하는 바를 탐구한다. 넷째, 이와 관련해 가치 판단의 문제가 제기되는데, 이때 우리에게 요구되는 의사결정의 방법은 무엇인가 하는 점을 고찰할 것이다. Food is currently the important issue in environmental ethics. Firstly, this article will outline the industrial agriculture, and examine its problems. Secondly, we will discuss the possibility of organic farming, as an alternative to the industrial farming. Thirdly, we will examine the implication of agrarianism and pastoralism which are the philosophical foundation of organic farming. Lastly, we will examine how various values conflict with each other regarding the food issue, and how we should make decision.

소득이 증가한다고 해서 행복이 증가하는 것은 아니다. 이것은 이스털린의 역설에서 잘 드러난다. 이스털린의 역설을 해명하는 과정에서 등장한 관계재 이론에 따르면, 우리는 소득 증진을 위해 일만 하다 보니 가족 및 친구들과 함께 있을 시간을 확보할 수 없었고, 이것이 행복지수를 낮아지게 하였다는 것이다. 관계재 개념은 경제학과 윤리학에 대한 통합적 논의를 요구한다. 행복의 증진은 소득의 증진뿐만 아니라 바람직한 인간관계와 연관되기 때문이다. 관계재 개념은 사랑, 우정, 사회적 활동 등, 관계성이 인간 삶의 필수불가결한 부분임을 시사하고 있다. 이것은 관계성이 인간 삶에서 어떤 의미를 지니는가에 대한 철학적 성찰을 요구한다. 브루니, 누스바움, 아리스토텔레스로 이어지는 관계재에 대한 논의는 좋은 삶은 어떤 것인가, 그리고 관계재는 어떤 것인가 하는 매우 철학적인 문제를 제기한다. 이에 대한 답변은 아리스토텔레스의 관계적 선에 대한 통찰에 기초해야겠지만, 동시에 현재의 삶의 조건에 대한 분석을 통해 확장되고 재해석되어야 한다. The increase of income always does not mean the increase of happiness. It is evident in Easterlins’ paradox. According to the relational goods theory that emerged in the process of explaining Easterlins’ paradox, we were unable to secure sufficient time to be together with family and friends when we were working in order to raise the income, and it lowered our happiness index. The relational goods concept calls for an integrated discussion of economics and ethics. It is because the promotion of happiness does not relate only to the promotion of income but also to desirable human relations. Relational goods concept suggests that love, friendship, and social activities are indispensable parts of human good life. It requires a philosophical reflection on what the relatedness means in good life. Bruni, Nussbaum and Aristotle have raised the philosophical question, such as what a good life is and what the relatedness is. The answer should be based on Aristotle’s insight into the relational good, but it must also be expanded and reinterpreted through an analysis of the conditions of the present human life.

오늘날 행복에 대한 담론, 이른바 ‘행복학’이라는 분야가 나타나고 있다. 행복학은 행복은 무엇이고, 사회 차원에서 행복을 어떻게 증진시킬 것인가라는 윤리학과 정치철학의 쟁점을 던지고 있다. 이 문제는 공리주의 이론의 핵심주제였고, 내부의 논쟁과정에 그대로 나타난다. 벤담과 밀의 양적 공리주의와 질적 공리주의의 갈등, 평등주의와 엘리트주의의 갈등, 그리고 공리의 계산을 둘러싼 공리주의 내부의 갈등이 그것이다. 그리고 이런 갈등은 가치다원주의 사회에서 더욱 심화될 가능성이 높다. 이글은 숙의민주주의 정치 이념이 사회적 차원의 의사결정에서 이런 갈등을 완화시킬 수 있는 기제를 제공할 수 있다고 주장할 것이다. Today, happiology, the discourse on happiness has emerged into the world. Happiology raised the ethical and political issues of what happiness is, and how we should promote it socially. This problem was a key theme of utilitarian theory and it appeared in the process of its internal debate. It is the Bentham and Mill"s conflict between quantitative utilitarianism and qualitative utilitarianism, between egalitarianism and elitism, and utilitarian’s internal conflict surrounding the utilitarian calculation. These conflicts are likely to be exacerbated in the society of value pluralism. This article will argue that the political idea of deliberative democracy can provide them echanism to mitigate the conflicts in the social decision making.

안건훈의 『생명공동체』(서광사, 2016)에 대한 서평

이 책은 생명공동체의 의미와 우리나라에서의 멸종 문제를 다룬다. 다루는 멸종위기동물에는 호랑이, 늑대, 여우, 산양 등 매우 다양하다. 저자는 이 책에서 생태민주주의에 기초해 이들 동물들을 생명공동체의 일원으로 존중해야 하며, 그들의 고통을 최소화하는데 노력해야 한다고 주장한다. 이 책의 미덕은 민화와 속담 분석을 통해 동물들이 우리의 문화에서 갖는 의미를 설명하고 있다는 것이다. 그래서 동물들도 우리 공동체에서는 없어서는 안 될 존재로 잘 표현하고 있다. 아쉬운 점은 동물해방론에 치우쳐, 생태중심주의와 보전생물학적 관점을 소홀히 하고 있다는 것이다. This book explores the meaning of biotic-community and the extinction in our country. The endangered species which it deals with are tigers, wolves, foxes, mountain goats and so on. The author insists that we should respect the animals as the member of ecological community, and try to minimize their pain. The virtue of the book is that it explains the meaning of the animals in our culture by analysis of folk paintings and proverb. It describe well the animals as indispensable beings in our community. However, it overemphasize the viewpoint of animal liberation while ignore the viewpoints of eco-centralism and conservation biology.

Friction plate which is main torque transfer element in lock-up clutch system is made of wet friction material that is consisted of synthetic fiber. Factors that decide characteristics of friction material are material composition, apply pressure, rotation speed and ATF temperature. Particularly, special condition control for friction durability is required because apply pressure and rotation speed become a important factor for friction characteristics and durability of friction material. The analysis of friction durability of friction material is investigated by using SAE No.2 test machine. This study provides applicable basic data for lock-up clutch system.

Lock-up clutch of a torque converter in an automatic transmission directly transmits the engine power to the transmission in order to achieve a more fuel economy. Damper spring, a core part of lock-up clutch system, makes the powertrain system stabilized by reducing the fluctuation torque of any engine system when lock-up clutch is operated. In addition to that, this part helps the improvement of total vehicle systems by increasing spring characteristic in aspects of the design facilities. To analysis the dynamic hysteresis of damper springs, numerical simulation has been carried out using DAFUL, a dynamic analysis commercial code. Preliminary test has also been conducted to assess the dynamic behavior of damper springs. The results of analysis and test are discussed in view of the dynamic simulation of damper springs.
