DPF cleaning is considered as one of good solutions of DPF regenerations. And the DPF cleaning is expected to be subsidized by the government in near future in Korea. But nobody knows the quantitative effect of DPF cleaning on the improvement of DPF regenerative performance, especially damaged DPF filter. This study shows the characteristics of damaged DPF regeneration by DPF cleaning through the field data of DPF cleaning shop and the engine dynamometer test.

Max. power test of vehicles is generally conducted using engine dynamometers. However, the power test have become more complicated to perform on the engine dynamometers due to new emerging engine technologies and control systems. It is even more difficult to control all test parameters on the engine dynamometer, especially for hybrid vehicle, since more advanced and cutting edge technologies have been used compared to the convention vehicle using fossil fuel. Therefore. the possible usage of chassis dynamometer for the system power test of hybrid and conventional vehicles have been investigated in this study. It was shown that the results of system power of all vehicles tested were approximately ranging from 70 to 80 percent lower than the power measured on the engine dynamometer. The safety standards with regard to the power of hybrid vehicle will be established later based on the he results from this study.

Corresponding domestic and foreign carbon emissions reduction for the increasing demands of international environmental regulation and following the 2009 announcement of national EV promotion in 2009, the load drive permission of the slow EV (2 Models) and the appearance of the fast EV (3 Models) were granted on 2010. However, the short mileage and the long charging time of EV were the problems in EV commercialization. The one time charging EV mileage was significantly affected by ambient temperature and air-conditioning load operation. This fact was confirmed by the test result of EV one time charging mileage experiments. In advance to commercialization of the EVs, it is required to the consumer understanding of EV. Also, it is crucial to provide the customers about EV standard features such as the one time charging mileage. Therefore, this research offers the general guidelines and information ranges based on previous ambient temperature and air-conditioning load operation test results to the EV customers.

When the PM in diesel engine out gas are loaded in a DPF system, the DPF filter is needed to regenerate. To find a regenerative solutions, this study describes the effects of catalyst coating quantity on NO₂ conversion and BPT(balance point temperature) characteristics. And the regenerative performance tests for plasma burner are conducted. As a result, the active DPF system with a plasma burner will be a useful method to regenerate the DPF filter especially at low exhaust temperature.

Korea has operated separately in each periodic vehicle inspection and periodic vehicle check system for efficient management of in-use vehicle. Periodic inspection is a system that for all vehicles, evaluate the suitability of the road driving without the disassembly and maintenance of the vehicle, and periodic check is a system that for the commercial vehicles, through the disassembly and maintenance of the vehicle, implement to ensure the safety and performance of vehicle. However, periodic check has been pointed out steadily because it had slipped into the institutional formal system to weight the economic burden of the public. Therefore, in this study, we would present the suggestion to integrate periodic inspection and periodic check through the analyses on domestic and foreign status of periodic check and the deducting problem. In particular, whereas periodic vehicle inspection has been implementing in all 34 countries member countries on Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development(OECD), periodic check has been implementing in japan, only one in the world. So, we compared and analyzed the items of periodic inspection and periodic check, and we presented the suggestion on the integration of two systems. In addition, another purpose in this study is to enhance the vehicle safety and to reduce burden on the public by presenting the compensation plan of the integration of two systems.

In case of conventional speed humps, there are problems of grounding because of the induced heavy pitching motion for the buses especially. Therefore it is strongly needed to new vehicle speed reduction schemes. It will be thought that speed cushions do not generally cause excessive discomfort to passengers of large buses, or excessive discomfort to emergency vehicles such as fire service vehicles or ambulances. To optimize the shape of speed cushion which is replaced with the conventional speed humps, the specifications of the domestic vehicles are surveyed. Based on these survey results, several types of speed cushions are designed and the vertical acceleration data are acquired through the 3D-accelerometers. Two-types of design with heights of 75 or 100 ㎜, plateau width of 1400 ㎜, plateau length of 2400 ㎜, ramp slope of 1-in-8 and side slope of 1-in-4 would give the least effect on buses while still causing discomfort for car occupants.

As soot particles are loaded in a diesel particulate filter, the filter should be regenerated periodically or continuously in the exhaust system. For the passive DPF system with catalysts, chemical reactions make a continuous regeneration of the filter. But the use of this fully passive DPF system is practically limited to high engine loads condition. Especially for the low engine loads driving pattern, there is no regeneration method in the passive DPF system. The active DPF system with a burner is an attractive alternative because the regeneration of the filter at all the engine condition could be possible. This study describes the development of the active DPF system using a plasma assisted burner regeneration considering the stability of flame, efficiency of the burner and control logic of the system. Engine bench tests are performed to verify these performances of the burner system. Results from these tests show that increased exhaust gas temperature leads to faster regeneration. Also high efficiency of the plasma assisted burner is shown.

It is needed to install the DPF for construction Machine. But there is few study on the characteristics of construction machine engine temperature and exhaust pressure. This study shows the validity of using DPF for construction machine through the field test. And the result is expected to be subsidized by the government in near future in Korea.
