In this study, in order to reduce the amount of infiltration generated from windows among the heat loss generated in the building, energy shutters were installed on the windows to conduct experiments on the change in internal temperature and amount of infiltration due to the pressure difference between the environmental chamber and the pressure box. As a result of the experiment, when the pressure difference was 0Pa, the initial temperature of the pressure box of window was higher than that of the pressure box of the energy shutter, but when the pressure difference occurred, the internal temperature of the pressure box of the energy shutter was higher. In addition, the amount of infiltration of the energy shutter was lower than that of the windows in all experimental conditions, and it was concluded that the reduction rate of the infiltration load (of the energy shutters) could be reduced by 53.3% compared to that of the windows.

In this study, a combined thermoelectric device and a heat pipe cooling module performance test was conducted to determine the heat transfer characteristics of the cooling module at a condition of given room temperature with cooling airflow 1 ㎥/min. As results, the thermal dissipation is up to 624W at the given air flow condition. It has no increment even the air flow increased at the same room temperature due to the temperature limitation of the thermoelectric device.

This research developed a hybrid heat pump system with the functions of dehumidification and heating, which uses simulated air that is like underground air, from an environmental chamber as a heat source. The system consisted of three evaporators and three condensers that were installed in series in the air passage, between the underground and load space. As results, the total amount of dehumidification was 2.726 kg/h, and the heating COPh was 1.84 at air intake temperature 17℃ and relative humidity 70%, which is a similar condition to underground air. We found that the total amount of dehumidification also increased with the air temperature and humidity. The system COPs was reached at 2.5, if we include the latent heat of dehumidification in the conventional heat pump system’s COP.

A drying machine for discarded Citrus scrap was developed in this study. The Citrus produced in Jeju Province was treated as wastes (a) after making a beverage, such as drinking juice, and (b) if the size of the product did not fit with its agricultural product criteria. Various types of drying machine were developed in this study, and different kinds of technologies were combined improve the performance. To enhance the performance, the system was maintained in a vacuum state, and a high frequency micro wave was activated to the waste Citrus scrap, to heat up the moisture inside the Citrus kernels. The frequency of the micro-wave was 2.6 GHz, which is the resonant frequency of the molecules. Experiments were conducted with a vacuum of 50, 100, 150, 300, 500, and 700 mbar. The waste Citrus scrap has two types of status:(a) original scrap, and (b) mixed with blender. As results, specimen (a) shows a 0.13 g/sec evaporation rate, while specimen (b) shows a 0.19 g/sec rate, at 50 mbar of environment vacuum condition. For the drying efficiency, specimens (a) and (b) show 0.15 g/W and 0.24 g/W, respectively.

The previous study was conducted to develop an air source multi heat pump system that could be operated with the solar collector and air source heat exchangers as heat source of the system. There is a winter-sowing problems in air source multi heat pump system when the outdoor temperature goes down under freezing point. The winter-sowing problem was solved by adapting R-22 refrigerant as working fluid in the previous study. However, when the system operated at high temperature, another problems are come out such as overheating of the solar collector outlet which lead to the superheat of the compressor inlet of the heat pump system. The condition could deteriorates a compressor in some case. In this study, we installed the anti-superheating devices on the previously developed system. As results of system performance test, COP of the system with anti-superheating technique is 2.4. It is a little improved COP compare to previous study's 2.23. In the results of multi heat source heating system, during operating solar collector, COP is relatively high between $200\;W/m^2$ and $400\;W/m^2$ solar intensity. It is recommended to extend the study on performance optimization with balancing the solar collect and capacity of compressor at higher solar irradiation conditions.
