N/A This is a clinieal st.udy of 34 cases below the age of 35 years with colorectal cancer who were treated at the Department of Surgery, Keinrnyung University Hospital from Qctober 1979 to September 1989 and the following results were obtained. 1) Of these 426 patients, who were admitted due to colonectal cancer duzing last 10 years 34 (8.0%) were younger than 35 years of age. There were 21 men and 13 women, giving a sex ratio of male to female 1.61:1. 2) The duration of symptoms was 3 to 6 months in 55.6%, the average duration was 6.6% months. 3) The most comrnon presenting symptoms were blood per rectum, bowel habit change and abdominal pain. 4) The msat common location of tumor was the rectum (61.8%) and the next was sigmoid colon. 5) Miles abdominoperineal resection was the most frequent operation as 9 cases (27.3%), and anteriar resection, right hemicolectomy, and left hemicolectomy in decreasing order. 6) The tumors of Duke's classification A was 6.1% B, 36.4% C, 36;4% D, 21.1%. 7) The most common types of cancer was adenocarcinoma and mucin-producing tumors were in 10 cases (29.4%). 8) The most common postoperative complication was wound infection as 3 cases (8.8%). 9) Overall 3-year and 5-year survival rates were 52.2%,33.3% respectively.

The clinical records of surgical geriatric patients over 70 years of age who were admitted to the surgical department of Keimyung University Hospital (Doing San Medical Center) from janury 1981 to December 1990 were reviewed and the following results of statistical analysis was obtained. 1) Surgery was performed in 392 patients over 70 years of age. 2) The sex distribution was 212 males and 180 females, ratio was 1.18:1 (1:0.85). 3) The most common age distribution was 70 to 74 years of age which was 65. 05% of the total patients.
