영어사전의 편찬원칙과 특성고찰

This article is aimed to give the advice and help of making better bilingual (English-Korean) dictionary and of getting the dictionary users to understand the monolingual and bilingual dictionaries and to get the merits through the following ways. First, I have described such principles as 1) choosing and recording the entry word, 2) analyzing and arranging the meaning of that entry 3) recording the features of the grammar and phonology. Second, I have shown the way that such general principles are applied to the produce of the bilingual dictionary (our English-Korean dictionary) and also I have not only found the serious problems of making bilingual dictionary in our country but also suggested the ways of solving such problems. Finally, I have compared the paper dictionary with the electronic dictionaries, such as digital diary, software (SW) for personal computer, CD Rom, DB (data based) internet and internet sites which have such many merits as the paper dictionary doesn't. As a result, I have pointed out the importance of making the paper dictionary on the basis of the general principles because such electronic dictionaries mentioned above are made on the basis of making the paper dictionary.

This article is aimed to give advice in order to make a better bilingual Korean dictionary by means of comparing the features in the monolingual and bilingual dictionaries.As a result, there are some points as follows. First: Depending on the dictionary, the order of the definition sequence is so various (or reversed), that it should be clearly described in the bilingual dictionary. Second: The explanation of the Usage and similar words is too obscure. So the bilingual dictionary has to be offered an alternative plan (substitute). Third: Subject Labels should have the separate colum(item) so that the bilingual dictionary may be a better one. Fourth: The bilingual dictionary should be given the origin of etymology. Fifth: In using the homographs, apart from methods of Davis' (1968, 1972), bilingual dictionary-makes should develop better ones.

This article is aimed to give a help to the user of dictionary and give a advice to make a better bilingual Korean one by means of comparing some syntactic features in the monolingual and bilingual dictionaries. As a result, there are some points as follows. First; It should be known that as compound words are not always alphabetized, they are subclassified by the main word, verb. Second; Heath proposed that coding system would rather lay emphasis on syntactic description than on excessive perfectness. Third ; The dictionary resulting from the verb pattern coding system by Hornby should use the proper combination of its complexity and usefulness. Fourth; In the bilingual dictionaries, the importance of verb pattern is put on the basic five verb pattern codes, that is, V + 0 + C, because the monolingual and bilingual dictionaries are very similar. Fifth ; In English - English Korean dictionary, there is a big problem in the syntactics in that the bilingual dictionary is simply translated by the meaning of the monolingual one. Sixth ; In my option, there should be good enough syntactic information by the more study and help of the linguists in the future dictionary publishing.

Reading and listening are the two most common ways of communications: there can be no communication of course, through a book or a letter if its message is not read and understand, nor can there be communication when the speaker addresses the deaf or speaks in a language incomprehensible to the listener. In short, communication any medium depends on the sender's ability to transmit a message and the receiver's ability to accept and comprehend it. Listening is an important part of the communication process. communication a two-way process, it is both the sending and the received of a message. Transmiting information is only half of the process: a message sent but not received has been communicated. Listening skill, like reading skill, can be improved. Readimg-improvement programs, increasingly popular in recent years, are helping many people better comprehension and increas their reading rate. Listening-improvement programs, too, are now being included in high school and in college courses and in employee-development progams in the United States, but in Korea is not yet, and also the problem is that Korean high school and university students learning English as a second language need help to improve therir listening comprehension of spoken English, therfore, daily listening comprehension lessons in English should be included in the regular English programs at hight-school and university in the Republic of Korea.

Although there are some features in each dictionary, We have rare chance to see the different features in them. I have pointed out the distinctive features by the way of showing the real examples of each dictionary. As a result, there are some different points in each dictionary and we have to use the dictionary in accordance with the features in it. There are some point as follows First, OED has the meaning order based on the historical principles. Second, COD has the way of saving the space by means of the abridgment(Italics) especially in reflexive pronoun. Therefore, we have to reconstruct the abridgment. Third, Also, COD has the principle of the meaning order according to the word frequency. Fourth, American dictionary tends to describe the word meaning by the way of encyclopedia and especially has the space of word history and usage note, regional note cross-references, usage note cross-references, synonym cross-references in the American Heritage Dictionary of the English Language, 3rd ed. Fifth, The bilingual dictionary tends to be short of the origin of etymology and the principle of meaning order.

지역별 강우분포를 고려한 블록포장지역의 유출계수 산정에 관한 연구

합리식은 배수시설을 설계하기 위한 기본방정식으로 이용되고 있으며, 유출계수, 강우강도와 유역면적의 함수이다. 본 연구에서는 조경공간의 배수시설설계에 이용되는 합리식의 유출계수를 블록포장지역을 대상으로 지역적 강우분포를 고려하여 산정하였다. 합리식의 유출계수는 강우강도와 유출량의 비로 나타낼 수 있다. 강우강도는 재현기간과 강우지속기간의 함수로, 강우의 특성상 지역에 따라 변한다. 따라서 합리식의 유출계수는 동일한 재현기간과 강우지속기간일지라도 지역에 따라 강우강도가 변하므로 지역에 따라 변한다. 또한, 강우강도와 유출량의 비는 강우량에 대한 손실량에 따라 결정되므로, 손실량을 산정하기 위하여 본 연구에서는 Horton의 침투법칙 중 종기침투능을 이용하였다. 블록포장지역의 침투는 줄눈을 통하여 발생하며, 줄눈은 시간이 지남에 따라 황사, 오염물질, 꽃가루 등에 의하여 공극이 메워지고, 답압 등에 의하여 다져질 것이므로, 침투능은 감소할 것이다. 시공연한이 다른 6개 지역의 블록포장지역을 대상으로 Horton의 종기침투능을 산정하여 시간이 지남에 따라 침투능이 감소하는 것을 확인하였고, 지역별 재현기간 10년에 대한 강우지속기간 10, 20 및 30분에 해당하는 강우강도를 선정하여, 합리식의 유출계수를 산정하였다. 본 연구의 결과로, 산정 된 블록포장지 역의 유출계수 범위는 재현기간 10년, 강우지속기간 10분의 경우 지역에 따라 $0.94{\sim}0.84$의 범위를 가진다. The runoff coefficient for a block paved area is determined with regional rainfall distribution. The Rational Method is a basic equation of a drainage system design and is a function of runoff coefficient, rainfall intensity and area. A runoff coefficient is the ratio of rainfall intensity and runoff. The rainfall intensity which is a function of the return period and rainfall duration differs by region. Therefore the runoff coefficient varies regionally even though there is the same return period and rainfall duration. The ratio of rainfall intensity and rainfall duration is decided by the loss of rainfall. The constant infiltration capacity of Horton's equation is adopted to determine the loss of rainfall. As time passed, the joint of the block paved area through which the infiltration occurs is covered by pollution material, sandy dust, pollen and is hardened by foot pressure, so the constant infiltration capacity may decrease. Six different sites were selected to verify the assumption of the constant infiltration capacity decrease and 10 year return period. 10, 20, and 30 minute rainfall duration were applied to calculate rainfall intensity. The results indicate that the Horton's constant infiltration capacity decreases over time and the minimum constant infiltration capacity is selected to compute runoff coefficients. The runoff coefficients varied by region ranging from $0.94{\sim}0.84$ for 10 minute of rainfall duration.

This article is aimed to give a help and guide to the dictionary user by understanding the origin and development of English Dictionary(Monolingual Dictionary). In addition to the general English dictionaries, the ones for the special purposes are taken for examples in order that the users may select and use suitable dictionaries. Moreover, We have made expectation of the aspect of dictionary in the future, especially in an electric information age. As a result, the computerized dictionaries on CD-ROM, Internet, and PC are going to be developed according as the programings of the first-dimensioned dictionary(the paper dictionary) is improved. Therefore, the bilingual-dictionary lexicographer in Korea (English-Korean lexicographer) has to keep in mind the importance of selecting the original fictional), because the features of the original one tend to be those of the bilingual one part In our country, the scholars and experts concerned with this field are to take the bilingual lexicography .and give the help to make a fine dictionary. On the other hand, our government is taking efforts to distribute the computers but has to department to publish the bilingual dictionary. I propose that the Ministry of Education should establish the department of bilingual dictionary(lexicography) suitable to the era of globalization.

사전 사용에 바람직한 사전 요건

This article is aimed to show the requisites of dictionary about the two aspects of morphology and the definition of the meaning. The reason is that a dictionary is indispensable for the English-speaking people, but that there will be a serious misunderstanding in using the words as a non-native speakers, if they are ignorant of the meaning and syntatics so as to avoid such serious mistakes, I point out the requisites of dictionary in order to help them to choose correct dictionary. For this aim, I have compared the monolingual and bilingual dictionaries to find the features of each dictionary. Especially I have investigated the features of morphology and definition of the meaning. As a result, I have showed the differences about the two requisites(e.g. the morphology and the definition of the meaning) between the monolingual and bilingual dictionaries. Moreover, internet dictionary has many merits which the paper dictionary doesn't. And so, I propose again that our Ministry of Education should not only have to supply many computers but also have to teach how to use the computers and have to set up such a department of making bilingual dictionary (lexicography) suitable to the era of globalization.

만다린 오렌지 과피를 기질로 한 Aspergillus niger의 구연산 발효에 관련된 효소적 반응

만다린 오렌지 과피를 기질로 하여 Asp. niger의 구연산 발효를 행하여 관련된 일련의 효소적 활성을 합성배지와 비교한 결과 만다린 오렌지 과피배지에서는 괴피에 함유된 Pectin이나 조섬유 등의 자화로 인하여 Polygalacturonase와 Pectin의 활성 뿐만 아니라 CMCase, xylannase 및 amylase의 활성이 높게 나타났다. When mandarin orange peel was used for a substrate of citric aCid fermentation by Aspergillus niger, principal enzyme activities were investigated. Not only the activity of polygalacturonase and pectin esterase being capable of digesting pectin and crude fiber of mandarin orange peel. but also that of carboxymethyl cellulase, xylanase and amylase was high. In carbohydrate metabolism, the activity of enzymes related in HMP pathway was higher than that in EMP pathway at the orange peel medium designed hereby rather than synthetic medium. Productivity of citric acid was significantly increased when the activity of citrate synthetase was high and 5imultaneously those of aconitase and NADP-dependent dehydrogenase were low.
