        Mankind has found out various medicinal plants in the history of so long bouts with various diseases. These medicinal experiences introduced the discovery of many modern chemical medicines from crude drugs, mainly medicinal plants. In this article, antimicrobial activities of crude drugs and their chemical constituents were described. Also, our studies on antibacterial substances form Zingiberis Rhizoma were introduced.

      • 활성산소의 유해작용에 대한 양강성분의 생체보호작용에 관한 연구(제 3보)

        It has been well known that the extended exposure to reactive oxygens causes severe damage to susceptible bimoleculares which constitute cells. In this study, the effects of some flavonoids including galangin from Alpinia officinarum Hance on singlet oxygen-induced photohemolysis of erythrocytes, free radical scavenging activities and lipoxygenase inhibiting activities were investigated. Flavonoids protected effectively the cells from the ¹O₂-caused damage in a dose dependent manner. Among them, galangin exhibited the highest protective effect against photohemolysis. Free radical scavenging activity(SC50) of galangin is 121 μM and lipoxygenase inhibiting activity(IC50) is 168 μM.

      • 천연 Gum의 Rat 피부조직에서의 영향 연구

        Gum Films were prepared by solution blending in the weight ratio of natural gums(Xanthan, Locust bean and Guar) for the purpose of useful bio-implants. The possibility of bio-implants, which prepared from natural gums as a skin substitute was evaluated by measuring biodegradability. This biodegradable films were inserted in the back of rats and their of biodegradability were investigated by hematological change evaluation as a function of time to the bio-transformation. These values of biodegradable films, which prepared from natural gums measured in this study were some stable results at short period with those of ideal skin bio-implants.

      • 페놀성 수산기의 O-메틸화반응과 이들 유도체의 벤질화반응

        pyrethroid계통의 살충제 Acc 222705를 합성하기 위한 기초 단계로 폐놀과 파라-크레졸에 대한 0- 메탈화반응을 시도한 결과 반응이 순조로이 진행되었다. 그러나 이들 화합물을 염소화반응과 벤질화반응을 시켰을 때는 반응이 진행되지만 분리하기가 힘들었고 또 분리한 화합물을 확인한 결과 여러가지 혼합물이 썩여 있었으며 이들 중에는 폴리마 성질을 갖는 혼합물들이 존재하였다. The reactionof the o-methylation of phenol and p-cresol was conducted as the fundamental step for synthesizing ACC222705 insecticides in synthetic pyrethroid. This reaction proceeded smoothly. When these compound was chlorinated and benzylated the reaction also proceeded. However, the separation of the resulted materials was very difficult. This materials were consist of the mixture of many compound and furthermore were contained the compounds which had polymes properties.

        A new practical method is described for the synthesis of (Z)-7-eicosen-11-one(1) and (Z)-7-nonadecene-11-one(2), the active principles of the sex pheromone of the peach fruit moth. In benzene solvent, 2-undecanone was refluexed with cyclohexylamine and p-toluenesulfonic acid to afford undecane-2-cyclohexyimine, which was reacted with LDA and allylbromide and then refluxed in methanol presence oof acid catalyst to afford 1-tetradecene-5-one. 1-tetradecene-5-one oxidized with OSO4 and then added NaIO4 to afford ketoaldehyde, witch treated witting reaction afford target compound.

      • Naphthoquinone diazide 유도체의 합성과 특성 연구

        Naphthoquinone diazide derivatives members of quinone diazide compound that are utilizable as photosensitive polymer material were synthesized, and photoresist were prepared by mixing these derivatives with a matrix resin at various weight ratios. Photosensitive characteristics of photoresist were studied by examining UV and IR, relative sensitivity using a Gray scale method, and SEM to analyze if they can be used as photosensitive material in printing process. Experimental results showed that, by UV, NQD derivatives were photo-converted and developer-soluble photoresist were produced. The mixing ratio of 1 : 4(by mass) of NQD+ ballast and m - cresol novolak gave rise to the highest dissolution rate. In addition, photoresist obtained at this condition resulted in the most superior sensitivity and contrast.

        다양한 기능성 도판트로 도핑된 가용성 폴리티롤의 용매화 효과 및 특성

        극성 작용기와 비극성 작용기를 동시에 갖는 기능성 도판트인 sodium di(2-ethylhexyl) sulfosuccinate (DEHSNa), sodium dioleylsulfosuccinate (DOSNa), sodium butylanphthalenesulfonate (BNSNa)을 사용하여 극성 용매(DMSO, DMF, NMP 등)와 비극성 용매(클로로포름, dichloromethane 등)에 가용성인 폴리피롤(Ppy-DEHS, Ppy-DOS, Ppy-NBS)을 합성하였다. 극성 작용기로 도핑된 가용성 Ppy-DEHS 분말의 용해도는 상대적으로 비극성 용매보다(~ 6 wt%/vol.) 극성 용매에서(~ 11 wt%/vol.) 더 높게 나타났고, 이들 용매로부터 제조된 필름의 진기전도도도 또한 극성 용매에서 제조된 필름이(4 S/cm) 비 극성 용매에서 제조된 필름보다 (2×10^-2S/cm) 더 높게 나타났다. 그러나, 비각성 작용기를 갖는 도판트로 도핑된 가용성 Ppy-DOS, Ppy-BNS의 경우, 상대적으로 비극성 용매인 클로로포름내에서 용해도가(6~9 wt%/vol.) 극성용매 (DMEO, DMF etc. 3~4 wt%/vol.)인 경우보다 높게 나타났다. 다양한 유기용매에서 제조된 Ppy-DEHS, Ppy-DOS, Ppy-NBS 필름의 전하전달은 모두 3차원 VRH model{σ_dc(T) = σ_0 exp[-(T_0/T)^1/4]}에 부합하였다. Polypyrroles (Ppy-DEHS, Ppy-DOS, Ppy-BNS, etc.) soluble in polar (DMSO, DMF, NMP, etc.) and non-polar (chloroform dichloromethane, etc.) organic solvents were synthesized using functional doping agents that have both polar and non polar functional groups: sodium di(2-ethylhexyl) sulfosuccinate (DEHSNa), sodium dioleylsulfosuccinate (DOSNa), and sodium butylnaphthalenesulfonate (BNSNa). Soluble Ppy-DEHS powder doped with polar functional group dopant showed a higher solubility in polar solvent (~11 wt%/vol.) than in non polar solvent ( ~6 wt%/vol.). Free standing film (4 S/cm) cast from polar solvent showed a higher electrical conductivity than that cast from non polar solvent (2 × 10^-2 S/cm). Soluble Ppy-DOS and Ppy-BNS powders doped with non polar functional group dopant showed a higher solubility in non polar solvent (chloroform, 6~9wt%/vol.) than in polar solvent (DMSO, DMF etc. 3~4 wt%/vol,). For the Ppy-DEHs, Ppy-DOS and Ppy-BNS films cast from various organic solvents, Three Dimensional Various Range Hopping model (3D VRH {σ_dc(T) = σ_0 exp[-(T_0/T)^1/4]} was used to fit the results of temperature dependence of electrical conductivity measurement.

      • 활성산소의 유해작용에 대한 대황성분의 생체 보호작용에 관한 연구(제2보)

        Gastritis or gastric ulcer is one of pathologic conditions producing oxygen radicals. In this condition, stimulation of neutrophils by H. pylori (Helicobacter pylori) and ischemia-reperfusion of gastric mucosa are the main mechanism for oxygen radical production. In order to find a possible therapeutic for this disease, attempts were made to isolate an effective oxygen radical scavenger using crude extracts of 50 herbal plants as strating materials and the isolated materials were tested for its biologic effect. The following results were obtained. 1. A compound named Ru8(rhapontigenin; 3, 3, 5-trihydroxy-4’-methoxystilbene) was isolated from the root of rhubarb. 2. Ru8 showed a strong radical scavenging action as demonstrated by the complete suppression of chemiluminescence produced by H. pylori-stimulated human neutrophils. 3. Ru8 suppressed the damage of gastric mucosal cells induced by oxygen radicals produced from H. pylori-stimulated human neutrophils(In vitro model of H. pylori-induced gastric ulcer). 4. Ru8 suppressed the damage of gastric mucosa induced by ischemia-reperfusion(In vivo model of ischemia-reperfusion-induced gastric ulcer). 5. Ru8 suppressed the lipid peroxidation and formation of 8-OH Guanine(a marker of oxygen radical induced DNA damage) in gastric mucosa induced by ischemia-reperfusion. From these results, it is concluded that Ru8 is an effective radical scavenger and this action of this compound is expected to exert antiulcer effect in vivo.

      • 원평광과 ESR 분광법을 이용한 비타민B12효소의 초기반응 메카니즘에 관한 연구

        비타민 B12 효소가 참여하는 여러 가지 생화학 반응에서 비타민 B12 효소의 초기 메카니즘이 corrin ring 의 코발트와 Adenine moiety 간의 공유결합이 깨지면서 cob (+3) alamine 이 cob(+2) alamine 으로 adenine moiety 가 Ad-CH₂라티칼이 생성되는 ratical 메카니즘이 유력시되고 있는데 본 소고에서는 원평광 및 ESR 분광법을 이용하여 어떤 이유로 비타민 B12 의 Corrin ring 에서 Adenine group 과 Cobalt 사이의 공유결합이 깨어지는가를 알아보려고 한다. It has been generally accepted that the initial enzyme mechanism of vitamine B12 is considered to be a radical formation between the covalent bonds of cobalt(+3) and adenine moiety (-CH₂) in the corrin ring system. As a consequence the cob (+3) alanine is reduced as a cob (+2) alamine and the adenine moiety is produced to be a Ad-CH₂ radical. According to the ESR experiments, the signal corresponding to the Ad-CH₂ can be observed clearly. In this report, I like to propose what is the main driving force to break the covalent bonding between this two atoms through employing the techniques of circular dichroism and ESR spectroscopy.
