Background: P53 has been reported to be involved with tumorigenesis and has also been implicated as a significant biomarker in oral squamous cell carcinoma(OSCC). However, the diagnostic value of p53 antibodies remains controversial; hence, we comprehensively and quantitatively assessed the potential in the present systematic review. Materials and Methods: A comprehensive search was performed using PubMed and Embase, up to October 31, 2014, without language restriction. Studies were assessed for quality using QUADAS (quality assessment of studies of diagnostic accuracy). The positive likelihood ratio (PLR) and negative likelihood ratio (NLR) were pooled separately and compared with overall accuracy measures using diagnostic odds ratios (DORs) and symmetric summary receiver operating characteristic (SROC) curves. Results: Of 150 studies initially identified, 7 eligible regarding serum p53 antibodies met the inclusion criteria. Some 85.7% (6/7) were of relatively high quality (QUADAS $score{\geq}7$). The summary estimates for quantitative analysis of serum p53 antibody in the diagnosis of squamous cell carcinoma were: PLR 2.06 [95% confidence interval (CI) : 1.35-3.15], NLR 0.85 (95%CI: 0.80-0.90) and DOR 2.47 (95%CI: 1.49-4.12). Conclusions: This meta-analysis suggests that the use of s-p53-antibodies has potential diagnostic value with relatively high sensitivity and specificity for OSCC particularly with serum specimens for discrimination of OSCCs from healthy controls. However, its discrimination power is not perfect because of low sensitivity.

The flow and force chain characteristics of metal powder in high-velocity compaction are not fundamentally understood because of the complexities and discreteness of these particle systems. A 2D discrete element model of a metal powder subjected to uniaxial compaction is developed. The flow state of particles, the force chain distribution, and the influence of the main model parameters on the force chains are investigated. Results indicate a collisional particle flow stage at the beginning of compaction. Then, the flow state of particles can rapidly be classified as a dense particle flow. In addition, the contact force distribution for the collisional particle flow follows an exponential law, which is significantly different from that for dense particle flow. The probability distribution of contact forces changes as a power function in the dense particle flow. The force chains initially deviate in the y-axis direction and then in the x-axis direction with increasing friction coefficient, and the distribution and load-carrying rates of the weak force chains decrease with increasing friction coefficient. Moreover, the force chains deflect in the direction of the x-axis with increasing the particle diameter, and the distribution rate and load-carrying rate of the weak force chains decrease with increasing particle diameter. These changes in the direction of the force chains are similar to the density changes in the compacted blank part parts. The distribution rate and the load-carrying rate of the weak force chains decrease with increasing friction coefficient, and the density of the blank part depends on the direction of the entire force chains (vector sum of the force chains). Under the strength of the force chains with slight changes and when the entire force chains are inclined in the densification direction, the density of the compacted blank part increases.

Four excellent halogen-free biphosphonate flame retardants (EBDMP, EBDEP, MBDMP, MBDEP) were synthesized through poly condensation and Arbuzov rearrangement reactions without using any solvents. The products were characterized by ESI-MS, FT-IR and 1H NMR. The application of EBDEP in polyurethane soft foam was studied and the results illustrated its excellent flame-proofing properties.
An Improved Variable Step Size MPPT Algorithm Based on INC
Zhi-rong Xu,Ping Yang,Dong-bao Zhou,Peng Li,Jin-yong Lei,Yuan-rui Chen 전력전자학회 2015 JOURNAL OF POWER ELECTRONICS Vol.15 No.2
In order to ensure that photovoltaic (PV) systems work at the maximum power point (MPP) and maximize the economic benefits, maximum power point tracking (MPPT) techniques are normally applied to these systems. One of the most widely applied MPPT methods is the incremental conductance (INC) method. However, the choice of the step size still remains controversial. This paper presents an improved variable step size INC MPPT algorithm that uses four different step sizes. This method has the advantages of INC but with the ability to validly adjust the step size to adapt to changes of the PV’s power curve. The presented algorithm also simultaneously achieves increased rapidity and accuracy when compared with the conventional fixed step size INC MPPT algorithm. In addition, the theoretical derivation and specific applications of the proposed algorithm are presented here. This method is validated by simulation and experimental results.

Background As cattle represent one of the most important livestock species for meat production, control of muscle development in regards to quality is an important research focus. Objectives In this study, the phenotypic quality traits and its associations with DNA methylation levels of the longissimus muscle in two cattle breeds were studied. Methods The pH value, water loss rate, fat and protein and fatty acid content were measured in three beef cattle breeds of longissimus mucle; The longissimus mucle was analyzed by MethylRAD-seq and RNA-seq. The differentially methylated and differentially expressed related genes were subjected to BSP. Results Methylation status of longissimus mucle was analyzed by MethylRAD-seq. Compared with Simmental, there were 39 differentially methylated and expressed genes in muscle of Yunling cattle, and 123 differentially methylated and expressed genes in Wenshan muscle. A combined analysis of MethylRAD-seq and RNA-seq results revealed differential methylation and expression level of 18 genes between Simmental and Wenshan cattle, and 14 genes between Simmental and Yunling cattle. In addition, 28 genes were differentially methylated between Wenshan and Yunling cattle. Results of promoter methylation analysis of ACAD11, FADS6 and FASN showed that the overall degree of DNA methylation of FADS6 and FASN was negatively correlated with their expression levels. Methylation level of FASN in Simmental was greater than Yunling and Wenshan. The degree of methylation at the FADS6 CpG4 site was significantly higher in Simmental than that in Yunling. The levels of methylation at the CpG7 locus of the Simmental and Yunling breeds were greater than Wenshan cattle. A negative correlation was detected between the methylation levels and the expression of FASN CpG1, CpG2, CpG3, CpG5, CpG7, and CpG10. Conclusion The functional and molecular regulatory mechanism of the genes related to meat quality can be revealed systematically from aspects of the genetic and epigenetic regulation. These studies will help to further explore the molecular mechanisms and phenotypic differences that regulate growth and quality of different breeds of cattle.
Estrogen Receptor α Roles in Breast Cancer Chemoresistance
Xu, Chao-Yang,Jiang, Zhi-Nong,Zhou, Ying,Li, Jia-Jia,Huang, Li-Ming Asian Pacific Journal of Cancer Prevention 2013 Asian Pacific journal of cancer prevention Vol.14 No.7
Resistance to chemotherapy treatment, which may lead to limited efficacy of systemic therapy in breast cancer patients, is multifactorial. Among the mechanisms of resistance to chemotherapy treatment, there are those closely related to estrogen receptor ${\alpha}$, P-glycoprotein, multidrug resistance-related protein, glutathione S-transferase pi and topoisomerase-II. $ER{\alpha}$ is ligand-activated transcription factor that regulates gene expression and plays a critical role in endocrine signaling. In previous preclinical and clinical studies, positive $ER{\alpha}$ expression in breast cancer cells was correlated with decreased sensitivity to chemotherapy. This article reviews current knowledge on the predictive value of $ER{\alpha}$ with regard to response to chemotherapy. Better understanding of its role may facilitate patient selection of therapeutic regimens and lead to optimal clinical outcomes.

We conducted a comprehensive study to investigate the role of genes involved in transport pathways in response to chemotherapy and clinical outcome of osteosarcoma cases. Genotyping of six SNPs was performed in a 384-well plate format on the Sequenom MassARRAY platform for 208 osteosarcoma patients to reveal any correlations of the six SNPs with response to chemotherapy and clinical outcome. Individuals with the ABCB1 rs1128503 TT and ABCC3 rs4148416 TT genotypes had a higher probability of responding poorly to chemotherapy, indicated by odds ratios (ORs) of 2.46 (95%CI, 1.21-5.74) and 3.78 (95% CI, 1.20-13.85), respectively. Moreover, the ABCB1 rs1128503 TT and ABCC3 rs4148416 TT genotypes were significantly associated with shorter diseasefree survival (DFS) and overall survival (OS). Our study found the two SNPs in two transporter genes and one phase II metabolism enzyme to be associated with response to chemotherapy and overall survival in osteosarcoma patients, suggesting potential prognostic biomarker applications of the two SNPs.
Existence of solution for impulsive fractional dynamic equations with delay on time scales
Zhi-Juan Gao,Xu-Yang Fu,Qiao-Luan Li 한국전산응용수학회 2015 Journal of applied mathematics & informatics Vol.33 No.3
This paper is mainly concerned with the existence of solution for nonlinear impulsive fractional dynamic equations on a special time scale. We introduce the new concept and propositions of fractional $q$-integral, $q$-derivative, and $\alpha$-Lipschitz in the paper. By using a new fixed point theorem, we obtain some new existence results of solutions via some generalized singular Gronwall inequalities on time scales. Further, an interesting example is presented to illustrate the theory.
