<P>We have designed and synthesized three blue emitters based on 9-naphthylanthracene derivatives connected with various electron-withdrawing group such as 4-fluorobenzene, 2,4-difluorobenzene and 2,3,4,5,6-pentafluorobenzene (1-3). Multilayered OLEDs with the structure of ITO (180 nm)/NPB (50 nm)/Blue materials 1-3 (30 nm)/TPBi (15 nm)/Liq (2 nm)/AI (100 nm) have been fabricated to investigate their electroluminescent properties. In particular, the device using 3 showed efficient blue electroluminescent properties with a luminous, power, external quantum efficiency and CIE coordinates of 0.71 cd/A, 1.98 Im/W, 1.34% at 20 mA/cm2 and (x = 0.16, y = 0.20) at 10.0 V, respectively. In addition, a deep blue OLED using 1 with CIE coordinates (x = 0.15, y = 0.11) at 10.0 V exhibited a luminous, power, external quantum efficiency of 2.12 cd/A, 3.04 Im/W and 1.17% at 20 mA/cm2, respectively.</P>

<P>The effects of atomic layer deposition (ALD) conditions for the HfO<SUB>2</SUB> gate insulators (GI) on the device characteristics of the InGaZnO (IGZO) thin film transistors (TFTs) were investigated when the ALD temperature and Hf precursor purge time were varied to 200, 225, and 250 °C, and 15 and 30 s, respectively. The HfO<SUB>2</SUB> thin films showed low leakage current density of 10<SUP>−8</SUP> A cm<SUP>−2</SUP>, high dielectric constant of over 20, and smooth surface roughness at all ALD conditions. The IGZO TFTs using the HfO<SUB>2</SUB> GIs showed good device characteristics such as a saturation mobility as high as 11 cm<SUP>2</SUP> V<SUP>−1</SUP> s<SUP>−1</SUP>, a subthreshold swing as low as 0.10 V/dec, and all the devices could be operated at a gate voltage as low as ±3 V. While there were no marked differences in transfer characteristics and PBS stabilities among the fabricated devices, the NBIS instabilities could be improved by increasing the ALD temperature for the formation of HfO<SUB>2</SUB> GIs by reducing the oxygen vacancies within the IGZO channel.</P>

According to Statistics Korea, the number of married migrant women has increased along with the number of multicultural families. This study investigated the diet of women immigrated to Korea by marriage, who have become members of Korean society since the increase of multicultural families and the enactment of relevant laws 12 years ago, and their demand for nutrition education. For the research, 96 married immigrant women who had been living in Jeonju, Sunchang, and Jeongeup, Jeollabuk-do, South Korea for more than five years were recruited. Although the research subjects showed a tendency to take good care of themselves with eating, they were also favorable toward alcohol, indicating that nutrition education is required. In addition, even though the survey subjects had been living in Korea for more than five years, they found it difficult to choose from different brands, which suggests that they struggle with grocery shopping. They had obtained dietary information mostly from the Internet and showed high need and demand for nutrition education. The lower the education level, the more they found it difficult to obtain information on food hygiene and nutrition, and vice versa. Most of the survey subjects preferred education and experience activities about traditional food and food culture and the small-group education method. We found that it was necessary to develop nutrition education materials and programs for married migrant women, who had been neglected due to language barriers, and that they were willing to participate in nutrition education programs. The study results on the survey subjects’ preference for the education content and method are expected to be useful in developing effective programs in the future.

본 연구는 돼지 뒷다리 발목 인대 모델을 이용하여 관전압 변조에 따른 단일 에너지와 이중 에너지 VNCa, VMI+ 55, 65, 75 keV 영상의 인대 진단에 대한 유용성을 정량, 정성적으로 평가하였다. 인대 모델의 가장 넓은 두 부위를 관심 영역(Region of interest; ROI)으로 설정하였고 Hounsfield Unit(HU), 신호 대 잡음비(Signal to Noise Ratio; SNR), 대조도 대 잡음비(Contrast to Noise Ratio; CNR)를 구하여 그 평균값을 바탕으로 정량적 평가를 시행하였다. 또한, 재구성된 이미지를 이용하여 근골격계 판독 전문의 5명과 CT 검사실 경력 5년 이상의 방사선사 5명이 인대 진단에 대한 정성적 평가를 시행하였다. 정량 및 정성 평가 결과, 70/Sn150 kVp에서 획득한 DECT VNCa 영상과 VMI+ 65 keV 영상이 단일 에너지 영상보다 더 우수한 영상을 나타내었으며 모두 통계학적으로 유의미한 차이를 나타내었다.(p<0.05) 또한, VMI+ 에너지 영역 중 65 keV에서 가장 질 좋은 영상을 확인하였으며, DECT VNCa 영상이 VMI+ 65 keV 영상보다 인대를 영상화하는 데 보다 우수함을 나타내었다.(p<0.05) 그리고 모든 영상은 관전압이 낮을수록 더 우수한 영상을 나타내었다. 따라서 MRI로 검사가 어려운 환자 및 응급 환자의 경우, 인대질환 진단에 있어 70/Sn150 kVp DECT VNCa 영상이 SECT와 DECT VMI+ 65keV 영상보다 최적화된 검사 방법임을 확인하였다. 또한 VNCa C.C 영상을 활용함으로써 인대의 두께나 길이를 정밀하게 묘사하여 영상의 진단적 가치를 높일 수 있을 것이라 사료된다. This study conducted a quantitative and qualitative assessment of the effectiveness of Single-Energy and Dual-Energy Virtual non-calcium imaging, as well as Virtual Monoenergetic Imaging at 55, 65, and 75 keV, for diagnosing ligament conditions with regard to tube voltage modulation. A porcine hindlimb ankle ligament model was utilized for this evaluation. The two widest regions within the ligament model were designated as regions of interest, and measurements of Hounsfield Units, Signal-to-Noise Ratios, and Contrast-to-Noise Ratios were obtained. Quantitative evaluation was then conducted based on the average values. Furthermore, qualitative assessments of ligament diagnosis were carried out by five musculoskeletal radiologists and five radiological technologists, each with over five years of experience in Computed Tomography laboratory work. Following both quantitative and qualitative evaluations, it was observed that the Dual-Energy Virtual non-calcium image obtained at 70/Sn150 kVp and the Virtual Monoenergetic Imaging Plus 65 keV image exhibited superior image quality compared to the Single-Energy CT image. These differences were statistically significant (p<0.05). Moreover, the highest image quality was noted at 65 keV within the Virtual Monoenergetic Imaging Plus energy range. The Dual-Energy Virtual non-calcium image was found to be more suitable for imaging ligaments than the Virtual Monoenergetic Imaging Plus 65 keV image.(p<0.05) Notably, lower tube voltages were associated with improved image quality across all images. Consequently, it was determined that 70/Sn150 kVp Dual-Energy Virtual non-calcium images are more optimized than Single-Energy CT and Virtual Monoenergetic Imaging Plus 65 keV images for diagnosing ligament diseases in patients who present challenges for Magnetic Resonance Imaging and in emergency cases. Additionally, employing Virtual non-calcium Color Coding images for accurately describing ligament thickness or length may enhance the diagnostic value of the images.

Taurine is a type of sulfur-containing amino acid having a sulfate functional group, that is biosynthesized from cyste- ine. It is mainly distributed in high concentrations in animal tissues and is known to have various effects such as osmotic pres- sure control, calcium control, anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, and hepatocellular protection. Also, taurine deficiency causes a variety of symptoms, including visual impairment. In particular, in the case of cats, taurine is not biosynthesized and must be supplied through food, so it is classified as an essential amino acid. In this study, an analysis method using mass spectrometry was developed instead of the commonly used derivatization method to quickly, environmentally, and precisely analyze taurine in various animal feeds. The developed analytical method showed good linearity (R 2 > 0.99), accuracy (81.97-105.78%), and pre- cision (0.07-12.37%). In addition, the developed method was further verified through quantitative comparison with the derivat- ization method. This developed method was used in the determination of taurine in 20 animal feed samples obtained from South Korea. The levels of taurine found ranged from 81.53 to 6,743.53 mg/kg. The developed analysis method will be used for the detection and quantification of taurine in domestic feed.

Botulinum neurotoxins (BoNTs), produced by Clostridium botulinum, are the most toxic substances known. However, the number of currently approved medical countermeasures for these toxins is very limited. Therefore, studies on therapeutic antitoxins are essential to prepare for toxin-related emergencies. Currently, more than 10,000 Halla horses, a crossbreed between the native Jeju and Thoroughbred horses, are being raised in Jeju Island of Korea. They can be used for equine antitoxin experiments and production of hyperimmune serum against BoNT/A1. Instead of the inactivated BoNT/A1 toxoid, Halla horse was immunized with the receptor-binding domain present in the C-terminus of heavy chain of BoNT/A1 (BoNT/A1-HCR) expressed in Escherichia coli. The anti-BoNT/A1-HCR antibody titer increased rapidly by week 4, and this level was maintained for several weeks after boosting immunization. Notably, 20 μl of the week-24 BoNT/A1-HCR(-immunized) equine serum showed an in vitro neutralizing activity of over 8 international units (IU) of a reference equine antitoxin. Furthermore, 20 μl of equine serum and 100 μg of purified equine F(ab’)<sub>2</sub> showed 100% neutralization of 10,000 LD<sub>50</sub> in vivo. The results of this study shall contribute towards optimizing antitoxin production for BoNT/A1, which is essential for emergency preparedness and response.
