Liu, Li-Heng,Liu, Ming,Wei, Ran,Jin, Er-Hu,Liu, Yu-Hui,Xu, Liang,Li, Wen-Wu,Huang, Yong Asian Pacific Journal of Cancer Prevention 2015 Asian Pacific journal of cancer prevention Vol.16 No.5
Background: To investigate whether CT findings can predict the invasiveness of persistent cancerous pure ground glass opacity (pGGO) by correlating the CT imaging features of persistent pGGO with pathological changes. Materials and Methods: Ninety five patients with persistent pGGOs were included. Three radiologists evaluated the morphologic features of these pGGOs at high resolution CT (HRCT). Binary logistic regression was used to assess the association between CT findings and histopathological classification (pre-invasive and invasive groups). Receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve analysis was performed to evaluate the diagnostic performance of diameters. Results: A total of 105 pGGOs were identified. Between pre-invasive (atypical adenomatous hyperplasia, AAH, and adenocarcinoma in situ, AIS) and invasive group (minimally invasive adenocarcinoma, MIA and invasive lung adenocarcinomas, ILA), there were significant differences in diameter, spiculation and vessel dilatation (p<0.05). No difference was found in air-bronchogram, bubble-lucency, lobulated-margin, pleural indentation or vascular convergence (p>0.05). The optimal threshold value of the diameters to predict the invasiveness of pGGO was 12.50mm. Conclusions: HRCT features can predict the invasiveness of persistent pGGO. The pGGO with a diameter more than 12.50mm, presences of spiculation and vessel dilatation are important factors to differentiate invasive adenocarcinoma from pre-invasive cancerous lesions.

Wen-bo Gao,Quan-ke Su,Jin-wen Zhang,Hong-bing Xie,Feng Wen,Fang Li,Ji-zhu Liu 한국강구조학회 2020 International Journal of Steel Structures Vol.20 No.5
The 55-km-long Hong Kong–Zhuhai–Macao Bridge (HZMB) is the world’s longest sea-crossing bridge, connecting Hong Kong with Zhuhai and Macao at the mouth of the Pearl River Estuary in China, comprising 22.9-km-long steel bridges. HZMB is the leading steel bridge in China, with top-level manufacturing and installation technology. This paper outlines the steel bridge construction experiences of HZMB to provide comparisons for the construction of other long sea-crossing steel bridges at home or abroad. The main considerations of construction constraints, scheme selection, structural and aesthetic design of HZMB are presented, and the following points related to new strategies in the steel bridge construction of HZMB are elaborated: (1) construction quality assurance, (2) automatic manufacturing technology, (3) large segment off shore installation, (4) eco-friendly paint (content limitation of volatile organic compounds) and new multifunctional inspection gantry, and (5) Guss Mastic Asphalt steel deck pavement system. The successful implementation of those strategies shows that the steel bridge construction of HZMB promotes improvement in the overall construction and management level of the Chinese bridge industry. The advanced experience of HZMB has opened up broad prospects for the design and construction of off shore bridge engineering in China.

Liu, Min-Jiao,Zhu, Wen-Yong,Li, Jie,Zhao, Guo-Zhen,Xiong, Zhi,Park, Dong-Jin,Hozzein, Wael N,Kim, Chang-Jin,Li, Wen-Jun Society for General Microbiology 2015 International journal of systematic and evolutiona Vol.65 No.8
<P>An actinomycete strain, designated YIM 690008T, was isolated from Daucus carota collected from South Korea and its taxonomic position was investigated by using a polyphasic approach. The strain grew well on most media tested and no diffusible pigment was produced. The aerial mycelium formed wrinkled single spores and short spore chains, some of which were branched. The whole-cell hydrolysates contained meso-diaminopimelic acid, glucose, mannose, ribose, galactose and rhamnose. The predominant menaquinones were MK-10(H4), MK-10(H6), MK-10(H8) and MK-10(H2). The polar lipids were diphosphatidylglycerol, phosphatidylcholine, phosphatidylinositol, phosphatidylinositol mannosides, some unknown phospholipids, glycolipids and polar lipids. The major fatty acids were i-C16?:?0, ai-C17?:?0 and C18?:?1ω9c. The DNA G+C content of the genomic DNA was 63.1?mol%. Phylogenetic analysis indicated that the isolate belongs to the family Nocardiopsaceae. However, based on phenotypic, chemotaxonomic and genotypic data, it was concluded that strain YIM 690008T represents a novel genus and novel species of the family Nocardiopsaceae, for which the name Actinorugispora endophytica gen. nov., sp. nov. (type strain YIM 690008T?=?DSM 46770T?=?JCM 30099T?=?KCTC 29480T) is proposed.</P>
A miR-155–Peli1–c-Rel pathway controls the generation and function of T follicular helper cells
Liu, Wen-Hsien,Kang, Seung Goo,Huang, Zhe,Wu, Cheng-Jang,Jin, Hyun Yong,Maine, Christian J.,Liu, Yi,Shepherd, Jovan,Sabouri-Ghomi, Mohsen,Gonzalez-Martin, Alicia,Xu, Shunbin,Hoffmann, Alexander,Zheng, The Rockefeller University Press 2016 The Journal of experimental medicine Vol.213 No.9
<P>MicroRNA (miRNA) deficiency impairs the generation of T follicular helper (Tfh) cells, but the contribution of individual miRNAs to this phenotype remains poorly understood. In this study, we performed deep sequencing analysis of miRNAs expressed in Tfh cells and identified a five-miRNA signature. Analyses of mutant mice deficient of these miRNAs revealed that miR-22 and miR-183/96/182 are dispensable, but miR-155 is essential for the generation and function of Tfh cells. miR-155 deficiency led to decreased proliferation specifically at the late stage of Tfh cell differentiation and reduced CD40 ligand (CD40L) expression on antigen-specific CD4+ T cells. Mechanistically, miR-155 repressed the expression of Peli1, a ubiquitin ligase that promotes the degradation of the NF-κB family transcription factor c-Rel, which controls cellular proliferation and CD40L expression. Therefore, our study identifies a novel miR-155–Peli1–c-Rel pathway that specifically regulates Tfh cell generation and function.</P>
Effect of gelatin nano-coating containing Gardenia pigment on the preservation of pork slices
Yong Liu,Zi-Hao Liu,Chang-Qi Luo,Chun-Tao Xiao,Wen-Yu Zhou,Wen-Jin Xie 한국식품과학회 2022 Food Science and Biotechnology Vol.31 No.4
The nano-coating composed of gelatin and Gardenia pigment (GP) was successfully prepared and showed strong antioxidant activity. The average particle sizes of the nano-coating containing 0.1% and 0.3% GP were 269.58 and 394.13 nm, respectively. The pork slices uncoated and coated with the nano-coating were preserved at 4 C for 15 days. The pork slices’ pH, total volatile basic nitrogen (TVB-N), total viable counts (TVC), water-bind- ing capacity (WHC), and thiobarbituric acid reactive sub- stances (TBARS) were measured to assess the preservation effect of the nano-coating. The results showed that the pork coated with the nano-coating had lower pH, TVC, TVB-N, TBARS, and higher WHC, significantly different (p \ 0.05) than the uncoated pork. It is suggested that the proposed nano-coating can be used to effectively improve the pork’s quality and shelf life during refrigeration storage.
Bond-slip Constitutive Relation between BFRP Bar and Basalt Fiber Recycled-aggregate Concrete
Wen-jing Meng,Hua-xin Liu,Gen-jin Liu,Xiang-qing Kong,Xue-zhi Wang 대한토목학회 2016 KSCE JOURNAL OF CIVIL ENGINEERING Vol.20 No.5
In order to investigate the bond stress-slip constitutive relation between BFRP bar and basalt fiber recycled-aggregate concrete, 81 central pullout specimens were tested. Basalt fiber volume percent, fiber length and concrete strength grade were considered to be experimental variables to obtain the bond stress-slip curves. The results showed that adding basalt fiber into recycled-aggregate concrete will reduce the bond stress between BFRP bar and recycled-aggregate concrete but enhance the ductility of bond property; the bond stress increases with the increasing of fiber length and concrete strength grade. The bond stress-slip constitutive model was proposed and the results showed that the model is good in effect of fitting. The constitutive model can reflect the bonding mechanism between BFRP bar and basalt fiber concrete well, it also can provide reference for theoretical analysis and engineering applications of the bond and anchor property between BFRP bars strengthened recycled concrete.

Background: Nestin is associated with neoplastic transformation. However, the mechanisms by which nestin contributes regarding invasion and malignancy of gastric adenocarcinoma (GAC) remain unknown. Recent studies have shown that the epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT) is important in invasion and migration of cancer cells. In the present study, we aimed to investigate the expression of nestin and its correlation with EMT-related proteins in GAC. Materials and Methods: The expression of nestin and EMT-related proteins was examined in GAC specimens and cell lines by immunohistochemistry and Western blotting. Clinicopathological features and survival outcomes were retrospectively analyzed. Results: Positive nestin immunostaining was most obviously detected in the cytoplasm, nucleus or both cytoplasm and nucleus of tumor cells in 19.2% (24/125) of GAC tissues, which was significantly higher than that in normal gastric mucosa tissues (1.7%, 1/60) (p=0.001). Nestin expression was closely related to several clinicopathological factors and EMT-related proteins (E-cadherin, vimentin and Snail) and displayed a poor prognosis. Interestingly, simultaneous cytoplasmic and nuclear nestin expression correlated with EMT-related proteins (E-cadherin, vimentin and Snail) (p<0.05) and lymph node metastasis (p=0.041) and a shorter survival time (p<0.05), but this was not the case with cytoplasmic or nuclear nestin expression. Conclusions: Nestin, particularly expression in both cytoplasm and nucleus, might be involved in regulating EMT and malignant progression in GAC, with potential as an unfavorable indicator in tumor diagnosis and a target for clinical therapy.

Existing PWM methods suffer from a trade off between zero-sequence circulating current (ZSCC) and line-current ripple, which are two major concerns of two parallel interleaved two-level (2L) voltage-source converters (VSCs). Thus, this paper introduces a novel space vector-based PWM strategy to reduce both line-current ripple and ZSCC. Given the redundancy of the vector combination of two parallel interleaved converters, this paper proposes eight optimal vector sequences, which simultaneously optimizes the ZSCC and the line-current ripple. Then, a carrier-based scheme is applied to yield optimal vector sequences, which simplifies the implementation procedure. Furthermore, this paper quantitatively compares both the ZSCC and the line-current ripple of the proposed method to those of existing PWM schemes. This comparison confirms that the proposed method is superior to existing PWM schemes in terms of current ripple and ZSCC. Finally, experimental results further verify the theoretical analysis and the effectiveness of the proposed strategy.
