Neuroinflammation is implicated for amyloidogenesis. Sulfur compounds extracted from garlic have been shown to have anti-inflammatory properties. Previously, we have investigated that thiacremonone, a sulfur compound isolated from garlic has anti-inflammatory effects. To investigate thiacremonone`s potential effect on anti-neuroinflammation and anti-amyloidogenesis, 4 week old ICR mice were given different doses of thiacremonone (1, 3, and 10 mg/kg) in drinking water for 1 month and received intraperitoneal injection of lipopolysaccharide (LPS) (250 μg/kg/day) at last 7 days of treatment. Our data show thiacremonone decreased LPS-induced memory impairment, glial activation, pro-inflammatory mediators` expression, and amyloidogenesis. In an in vitro study, we obtained similar results, with thiacremonone (1, 2, and 5 μg/ml) effectively decreased LPS (1 μg/ml)-induced glial activation and inflammatory mediators generation which are implicated in amyloidogenesis. Our data also demonstrated that thiacremonone inhibited LPS-induced amyloidogenesis in cultured astrocytes and microglial BV-2 cells. NF-κB, a critical transcriptional factor regulating not only inflammation but also amyloid-β generation, was inhibited by thiacremonone via blocking of phosphorylation of IκBα in mice brain as well as cultured astrocytes and microglial BV-2 cells. These results indicated that the anti-inflammatory compound, thiacremonone, inhibited neuroinflammation and amyloidogenesis through inhibition of NF-κB activity, and thus could be applied for intervention of inflammation-related neurodegenerative disease including Alzheimer`s disease.

A new conjugated polymer with bulky substituents was synthesized by the polymerization of ethynylestradiol 3-methyl ether (EEDME) by such transition metal catalysts as PdCl2, RuCl3, and (NBD)PdCl2. The polymerization proceeded well in homogeneous manner to give a moderate yield of polymer. The chemical structure of poly(EEDME) was characterized to have the conjugated polymer backbone with the designed substituents. From the CV measurements, the HOMO energy level of the polymer was calculated to be 5.02 eV. The photoluminescence spectra of poly(EEDME) showed that the two photoluminescence peaks are located at 434 and 406 nm corresponding to the photon energy of 2.86 and 3.06 eV, respectively.

This study examined the difference in the usage of internet banking users between Korea and China. This model tests various theoretical research hypotheses relating to internet banking, The Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology(UTAUT). The factors influencing on the use intention of Internet banking have been classified as performance expectancy, effort expectancy, social influence and facilitating conditions. The proposed model was empirically tested using data collected from a survey of internet banking users in Korea and China. The model is used by SPSS 15.0 and AMOS 7.0 for analysis on the sample collected from 272 respondents. The result of hypothesis testing are as follows. First, performance expectancy and social influence positively influence use intention of internet banking user both Korea and China. Second, facilitating conditions only positively influence on the usage of internet banking users in Korea. On the other side, effort expectancy do not influence the use intention of internet banking users in both two countries. The results of study will provide practical implications on the internet banking in Korea and China.
