Printing technology has begun to get into the spotlight in many ways due to the low cost effectiveness to existent semiconductor process. It also has very useful application areas, not only paper printing but also patterning for LCD color filter, Photovoltaic patterning, RFID antenna, OLED, and so on. In this study, an apparatus of gravure offset printing was developed for fine line width printing. The pattern was composed of 20㎛ size of continuous lines of which pitch size was 40㎛. The printed pattern shows that it is possible to make around 20㎛ line-width printing pattern. The roll-to-roll printing system for fine line-width printing based on primary experiment is presented. For testing of multi-layer printing, the system was designed to be capable of printing two different materials from each printing unit using gravure-offset printing method and have a function of alignment of two printed materials.

e-Printing is the new manufacturing technology compared to traditional printing technology for electronic products. And these products need wide area printing and to be very cheap. Therefore gravure printing system with roll to roll(R2R) system will be used to reduce cost and to keep the required accuracy. Engraved roll for gravure printing system will be used. On the surface of the roll, the structure to be printed is machined negatively, which will be filled by conductive ink and transferred to the web material. As one of the characteristics of gravure printing, the areas and lines are composed of a set of dots. In this paper, lines and areas will be printed using gravure printer with conductive ink. The engraved pattern of the gravure roll is composed of various geometry of dots like depth, angle are shape. The printing result, the ratio of ink transfer and accuracy of lines, will be analyzed to investigate the influence of the geometry of dots to the quality of printing.

Recently, printed electronics have been actively research for apply to electronic device manufacturing process to replace traditional manufacturing process. Roll to Roll printing technology can make it possible to produce electronic device such as display, RFID, solar cell, e-paper, etc. Gravure offset printing is typical method for Roll to Roll printing. In this study, Gravure offset printing is applied to the vertical structure of the printing module equipped with printing system, we found that ink and blanket, film's characteristics are very important element by printing test of the 20㎛, 30㎛, 40㎛, 50㎛ horizontal, vertical, bending, radial fine pattern.

The most widely used method to form an electrode in industrial solar cells are screen printing. Screen printing is characterized by a relatively simple and well-known production sequence with high throughput rates. However the method is difficult to implement a fine line width of high-efficiency solar cells can not be made. The open circuit voltage(Voc) and the short circuit current density(Jsc) and fill factor(FF) need to be further improved to increase the efficiency of silicon solar cells. In this study, gravure offset printing method using the multicrystalline-silicon solar cells were fabricated. Gravure off-set printing method which can print the fine line width of finger electrode can have the ability reduce the shaded area and increase the Jsc. Moreover it can make a high aspect ratio thereby series resistance is reduced and FF is increased. Approximately 50㎛ line width with 35㎛ height was achieved. The efficiency of gravure off set was 0.7% higher compare to that of scree printing method.

There has been a great interest in printing technology as a low cost and mass production method for the application of printed electronics such as printed TFT, solar cell, RFID Tag, printed battery, and so on. In this study, apparatuses of gravure-offset printing are developed for fine line-width/gap printing and examining pattern distortion occurred in gravure-offset printing process. The fine line-width/gap pattern shows that it is possible to make around 20 micro-meter line-width/gap printing patterns. Pattern distortion is modeled, and the amount and shape of the distortion are calculated by using commercial FEM code. The roll-to-roll printing system under development consists of unwinder/rewinder, two printing units, one coating unit, drying units, guiding unit, vision system, and other auxiliary devices. For multi-layer printing, the system is designed to be capable of printing two different materials.

The gravure offset printing system is widely used for patterning parts of FPD devices. This research focuses on the reliability of gravure offset printing. By developing the reliability test printing system, printing experiments were repeated automatically. We can find that printing pressure and speed affect the life span of the gravure offset blanket. As the printing pressure and speed increase, the life span of the blanket becomes longer. It is due to the contact time between the ink and blanket, and the absorption and release of the solvent from the surface of blanket.

This technology, with low cost and high productivity, can make it possible to produce printed electronics such as TFT, solar cell, RFID Tag, printed battery, and so on. In this study, apparatus of gravure-offset printing are developed for fine line-width/gap printing and the results obtained from the apparatus shows that it is possible to make around 20 micro-meter line-width/gap printing patterns. The roll-to-roll printing system for fine line-width printing based on primary experiment is presented. The printing results obtained from the system shows around 30 micro-meter line-width/gap printing patterns.

The lighting devices using organic light emitting diodes (OLEDs) are actively researched because of the various advantages such as high power efficiency and 2-dimensitonal lighting emitting. To commercialize those OLED lighting devices, the manufacturing cost must be downed to comparable price with conventional light sources. Here, we demonstrate a reverse gravure-offset or gravure off-set printed metal electrode for the auxiliary electrode for OLED lighting devices. For the fabricated OLED’s auxiliary electrode, we used Ag nano-paste and printed metal grid structure with a line width and spacing of several ten and hundred micrometer by using gravureoffset printing. In the end the printing metal grid pattern are successfully achieved by optimization of various experimental conditions such as printing pressure, printing speed and printing delay time.
R2R 그라비어 오프-셋 인쇄공정에서의 동기화 오차에 대한 분석

Recently, there are many issues about R2R printing technique for mass production of electronic devices. Among the various Roll-to-roll based printing techniques such as gravure, off-set, flexo and so on, “Gravure off-set printing technique” has an advantage of higher printing resolution. The printing unit of gravure off-set printing technique usually consists of plate roll, blanket roll and impressure roll whose. Linear velocities should be synchronized each other for fine pattern printing. However, roller’s manufacturing error and printing variations such as pringting pressure, printing speed, roll stroke and so on actually affected their synchronization anf thus the quality of fine fattern. In this paper, we analyzed the effective of synchronization error on printing quality. Also, this paper reviews the relative motion with each roll. And, this paper studys the synchronization error about its generation problem.

In this study, an apparatus of gravure offset printing was developed for fine line width printing. A flat gravure plate made of brass was engraved as the original pattern. The pattern was composed of 20 ㎛ size of continuous lines of which pitch size was 40 ㎛. An ink was poured and filled into the line holes by doctor blade. It was finally transferred to an aluminium plate via rubber roll. The printed pattern shows that it is possible to make around 20 ㎛ line-width printing pattern and to make conductive lines if an suitable conductive ink is used.
