This paper examines the aspects and meaning of the friendship(交遊) found in the Chinese poems by Cheongseong Seong Dae-jung(成大中, 1732-1809), a side-branch literary active during the reigns of King Yeongjo and Jeongjo in the late Joseon Dynasty. Seong left his collection called Cheongseongjip(『靑城集』) consisting of a total 5 books and 10 volumes, 4 volumes of which included his Chinese poems. Particularly noteworthy are the poems he exchanged with important persons he met during major periods or activities during his life trajectory, for these chinese poems are not only large in quantity, but also portrays the life experiences and friendships of Seong, and gives insight into the beautiful gathering(雅集) of contemporary literati in the 18th century. Seong Dae-jung’s chinese poems of friendship can be divided into four brand categories. The first are the chinese poems created while serving his mission as a Gyemi envoy(癸未使行) in exchanges with Cho Um(趙曮), and Won Jung-Keo(元重擧). The second are the chinese poems during his service as Uljin- hyeonryong(蔚珍縣令), shared with Kim Jun(金焌), Min Baek-sun(閔百順), Lim Bae-hu(林配垕), Ahn Seok-gyong(安錫儆), etc. The third are the chinese poems from the period when he served as gyori(校理) in Gyoseogwan(校書館) with Park Ji-won(朴趾源), Hong Won-seop(洪遠燮), Lee Deok-mu(李德懋), etc. The fourth are friendship with Gwon Um(權 ), Lee Se-hang(李世杭), and Lee Myeong-yeon(李明淵) during Seong’s days as a hermit in his hometown Pocheon(抱川). Through research, It was clear that each aspect of friendship has its value in signifying beautiful gatherings such as Seonsa’ui(仙槎誼), Seonsa’manlang(仙槎漫朗), Bisung’ajip(秘省雅集), and Cheongseong’sisa(靑城詩社). In short, this paper examined the chinese poems of friendship by Seong Dae-jung, and analyzed the trajectory of Seong’s life and characteristics of his friendship with important figures in the domains of thought, culture, and art in the era of kings Yeongjo and Jeongjo. This paper illuminated the diverse network and friendship of Seong Dae-jung, identified various individuals and examined the significant aspects of the beautiful gatherings in the 18th century, which had not been researched adequately due to the scarcity of personal collections of works from the 18th century. 본고는 조선 후기 영ㆍ정조 연간에 활동한 서족 출신의 문인 학자인 靑城 成大中(1732∼1809)의 교유시를 중심으로 그 양상과 의미에 대해서 살펴본 글이다. 성대중은 10권 5책의 『靑城集』을 남겼던 바, 여기에는 4권의 시가 수록되어 있다. 그 중 성대중의 삶에서 주요한 궤적과 시절을 중심으로 한 교유 인물들과의 창수시가 특히 눈길을 끈다. 분량이 많을 뿐만 아니라 성대중의 삶과 교유 및 18세기 당대 문단의 雅集을 확인할 수 있기 때문이다. 성대중의 교유시는 크게 넷으로 구분할 수 있다. 첫째 조엄과 원중거 등과의 계미사행 시절의 교유이고, 둘째 김준과 민백순, 임배후, 안석경 등과의 울진현령 시절의 교유이며, 셋째 박지원, 홍원섭, 이덕무, 등과의 교서관 교리 시절의 교유이며, 넷째 권엄, 이세항, 이명연 등과의 포천 향거 시절의 교유이다. 이러한 교유 양상은 각각 仙槎誼, 仙槎漫朗, 秘省雅集, 靑城詩社 등의 의미를 도출하였다. 요컨대 본고는 성대중의 교유시를 통해 그 자신 삶의 궤적과 더불어 영ㆍ정조 시대 학문과 사상, 문화, 예술 방면에서 중요한 인물들과의 교유 양상과 특징을 살펴보았다. 이는 성대중의 다채로운 인적 네트워크와 더불어 그동안 문집이 전하지 않아 잘 알려지지 않았던 18세기 문단의 다양한 인물 및 나아가 18세기 雅集의 한 양상을 확인하였다는 점에서 의의가 있다.
