        A Study on Le Corbusier’s Space Design Strategy ‘Les 4 Compositions’

        Le Corbusier devoted his lifetime career to the architectural field producing numerous projects and conceiving remarkable design principles. One of the design strategy concepts is Les 4 Compositions. It plays a significant role as the representative configuration of his entire modern housing projects. This study analyzes Architectural Promenade of Les 4 Compositions to provide a fascinating insight into the method of composing a spatial symphony in architectural design and simultaneously lay the foundation to understand Le Corbusier’s tendency of design language. By using the method of illustration with axonometric, section, perspective drawing and spatial elements categorization, this research analyzes how the 4 projects in Les 4 Compositions achieve dynamic space. The results show that Les 4 Compositions have four different dynamic architectural promenade techniques. Each of the compositions has a notable, distinctive feature but is related to each other in a problem solving manner. Fundamental spatial elements used in all 4 compositions are Light, Stair, Wall-planes, Horizontal/ Ribbon Window, Facade, Curved Partition/ Enclose, and Roof Garden. These results are essential to establishing real chronology to construct a series of spatial impressions for future architecture.

        Stochastic finite element analysis of composite plates considering spatial randomness of material properties and their correlations

        Considering the randomness of material parameters in the laminated composite plate, a scheme of stochastic finite element method to analyze the displacement response variability is suggested. In the formulation we adopted the concept of the weighted integral where the random variable is defined as integration of stochastic field function multiplied by a deterministic function over a finite element. In general the elastic modulus of composite materials has distinct value along an individual axis. Accordingly, we need to assume 5 material parameters as random. The correlations between these random parameters are modeled by means of correlation functions, and the degree of correlation is defined in terms of correlation coefficients. For the verification of the proposed scheme, we employ an independent analysis of Monte Carlo simulation with which statistical results can be obtained. Comparison is made between the proposed scheme and Monte Carlo simulation.

        공용부문 구성형식 중 콘코스형 형식의 도시호텔에 나타난 공간 구성 요소의 특성

        The purpose of this study is to examine spatial composition elements of the public sector through medium-sized first class urban hotels of Korea and Japan, the two countries with geopolitical closeness and high cultural and economic correlation, and to provide data needed for devising future urban hotel plans. The scope of this study included case studies on medium-sized first class urban hotels (10 urban hotels with concours composition type in the public sector) located in downtowns of Korea (5 hotels) and Japan (5 hotels). The study was conducted by analysis of drawing based on review of preceding studies and literature, and on-site survey. The results of survey and analysis on physical spatial elements shown in medium-sized urban hotels of Korea and Japan with concours composition type among composition types in the public sector are as follows. First, as a result of analyzing spatial elements of medium-sized urban hotels in the public sector, an in-depth checklist must be prepared with consideration on intimate correlation between elements to devise a construction spatial plan for urban hotel in the future. Second, as a result of comparatively analyzing area ration for each function (public sector, sales sector and service sector) through area analysis on the lower floors of medium-sized urban hotels, reference data for planning were found in regards to spatial composition ratio of the public sector. Third, as a result of analyzing spatial elements of lobby hall and traffic line of visitors on the lower floors of medium-sized urban hotels in the public sector, there was a substantial difference between hotels of Korea and Japan.

        TV 프로그램 제작을 위한 국내 가요 시상식 무대의 공간 구성에 관한 연구

        This study focuses on the composition and use of space to effectively deliver the content in TV program production. To this end, by analyzing the spatial arrangement and expressive elements according to the composition of the music awards ceremony stage and identifying the relationship between the stage composition and camera angle, essential matters that need to be considered when designing the stage space of a TV program are derived. The purpose of study is to provide the basic data for future broadcast stage space design methodology. The Golden Disk Awards, which proceeds as a live broadcast every year, was selected as a research subject, and the stages of domestic music awards ceremonies broadcast over the past five years from 2019 to 2023 were set as a scope of the research. The research method is as follows. First, the concept of broadcast stage space is defined for the composition and understanding of the music awards ceremony stage, and the role and expressive characteristics of this space in TV programs are investigated. Second, this study analyzes the spatial arrangement and characteristics of the music awards ceremony stage based on the stage design and floor plan. Third, the expressive elements of spatial composition are expressed on the screen is analyzed. Fourth, the camera movement and placement to understand how camera angles shape the space and induce depth perception is analyzed. Through this study, the researcher reinterpreted the correlation between formative and technical elements of the awards ceremony stage space, and confirmed the importance of constructing a space that takes spatial composition characteristics into consideration to improve the quality of the TV program production environment. Through this analysis, creative methods that can be applied to the stage space configuration of the music award ceremony program to improve the quality of the program and the viewer's experience were derived, and a design standard for the broadcast stage space was established.

        As the per-capita gross national income of Korea surpasses $30,000, the increased income level has caused changes in consumption patterns. The demand for products that could express their own lifestyle started increasing. Regarding the housing culture, 1-2person households and the lease/monthly rent-based housing are increased, so that the lifestyle shops are rapidly growing. Therefore, global lifestyle shops with diverse concepts have entered Korea while multiple lifestyle shops are created to meet this trend in Korea. Under this condition, the establishment of brand identity and strategies differentiated from other brands would work as an essential point, which is closely related to VMD strategies. This study used the case research and theoretical consideration focusing on VMD strategies through the spatial composition elements of lifestyle shops. In detail, examining the concept and development factors of lifestyle shop, the definition and roles of VMD were studied. Also, experiencing the lifestyle shop applying the VMD composition elements, a checklist was completed based on preceding researches. Through this consideration, a field survey was conducted and analyzed. Thus, this study aims to suggest effective and competitive VMD strategies of lifestyle shops by analyzing VMD strategies through the spatial composition elements of lifestyle shops and then comprehensively considering the results.

        In modern society, It is variously developed that the material constituting the interior space. A variety of fabrics which closely related to a number of materials utilize for the decorated living space. People come to get a higher level of consciousness and recognize the environmental pollution relate to the ecological destruction then they concentrate their task on more secure and profitable products development. Natural dyed fabric of local self-organization of local support for specialized products where the market is growing, but compared to the growing lack of standardization and specialization, but in reality, it is also ongoing research and development in progress. The researchers are supposed to analyze Pine and Gilmore"s Experiential in Economic Theory, extract characteristics of the Experienced Element(4Es ) by applying them to the spatial composition natural dyes museum and they not only leads to participate people in connecting their expectations and satisfaction to consumption by allowing the direct sound provide space for educational and communication of the benefits of natural dyed fabrics, which allows you to look forward and activate.

        Static performance of a new GFRP–metal string truss bridge subjected to unsymmetrical loads

        A unique lightweight string truss deployable bridge assembled by thin-walled fiber reinforced polymer (FRP) and metal profiles was designed for emergency applications. As a new structure, investigations into the static structural performance under the serviceability limit state are desired for examining the structural integrity of the developed bridge when subjected to unsymmetrical loadings characterized by combined torsion and bending. In this study, a full-scale experimental inspection was conducted on a fabricated bridge, and the combined flexural–torsional behavior was examined in terms of displacement and strains. The experimental structure showed favorable strength and rigidity performances to function as deployable bridge under unsymmetrical loading conditions and should be designed in accordance with the stiffness criterion, the same as that under symmetrical loads. In addition, a finite element model (FEM) with a simple modeling process, which considered the multi segments of the FRP members and realistic nodal stiffness of the complex unique hybrid nodal joints, was constructed and compared against experiments, demonstrating good agreement. A FEM-based numerical analysis was thereafter performed to explore the effect of the change in elastic modulus of different FRP elements on the static deformation of the bridge. The results confirmed that the change in elastic modulus of different types of FRP element members caused remarkable differences on the bending and torsional stiffness of the hybrid bridge. The global stiffness of such a unique bridge can be significantly enhanced by redesigning the critical lower string pull bars using designable FRP profiles with high elastic modulus.

        백화점 옥상공원의 계획요소 중요도 및 구성 공간과 시설에 대한 선호도 조사

        The purpose of this study is to configure the spaces and elements of the roof-garden plan that users regard as important, and to investigate their preferred spaces and facilities, ultimately providing basic information for the planning of user-directed roof gardens for local residents. A questionnaire survey was used as the research method, targeting roof-garden users in the L department store of Jeollabuk-do. A total of 225 people responded to the questionnaire, and 223 of them were used for this study. The collected data was analyzed in SPSS ver.18.0, using frequency, percentage, t-test, and one way ANOVA. The respondents preferred rest space the most, followed by the convenient space, landscaping and green space, and play and exercise space. Teenage students preferred the pool and artificial spaces, such as a fountain, and planned convenient spaces and rest spaces, such as a playground. Cafes and restaurants, chairs and tables, and walking trails should be considered for single women in their twenties. Due to the high population of married couples in their thirties, the preference for play facilities and safety facilities was higher than in other groups. The well-educated population in their forties, when viewed from their preference for landscaping and green space, requires the opportunity to rest in nature. The results of this study cannot be generalized since the study was directed at roof-garden users in a department store in Jeollabuk-do. However, it is possible to provide specific information about the user-directed roof-garden plan, since the study was analyzed together with various user variables.
