중요도-실행도 분석(IPA)을 활용한 해외 한국어 교육 활성화를 위한 요구 분석-신남방·신북방 지역 고등교육기관을 대상으로-

This study aimed to draw approaches of activating Korean language education in higher education institutions of new Southern and Northern areas, where the numbers of Korean learners are consistently increasing. To draw methods for activating Korean language education, this study conducted a needs analysis for Korean teachers using IPA (Importance-Performance Analysis) and analyzed the perceptions and needs of the group of Korean education experts. The questionnaire items were divided into two categories: satisfaction and necessary aspects, and exclusive basic information aspects. The participants were asked to check a five-point scale regarding satisfaction and the necessary degree of Korean education activation methods. This study drew five categories for the questionnaire items: 1) curriculum, 2) teaching competence, 3) attracting learners, 4) educational environment and materials, and 5) cooperation for activating education. A total of 68 participants related to Korean education from 17 countries responded to the survey. After analyzing basic information, it was found that both Southern and Northern areas have many institutions with Korean language majors, and the curriculum was focused on Korean language rather than Korean studies, whereas countries like North America and Europe focused on the long history of Korean education. As for the IPA result, 5 categories showed a meaningful result, p<.000 which reveals a meaningful difference between importance and performance. It was found that the international cooperative support for Korean studies and Korean language was most urgent. Furthermore, this study found that support for attracting Korean learners, educational material and environment and understanding learners’ needs and character should be conducted continuously.

본 연구에서는 신북방 지역의 한류 및 한국어 교육의 현황을 살펴보고, 이를 바탕으로 한국어 교육의 발전 방안에 대해 제안하였다. 신북방 지역에서 한류의 영향력과 한국어 교육의 확산 정도는 국가별로 차이가 큰 편이나, 본고에서는 향후 정책 시행의 효율성 등을 고려하여 세 가지 그룹으로 분류해 보았다. 이어 현황을 토대로 본고에서는 이 지역에서의 한국어 교육의 지속과 확대를 위해 다음과 같이 제안하였다. 첫째, 신북방 지역 대상 국가에 대한 기초 연구가 좀 더 활성화되어야 한다. 둘째, 신북방 지역의 국가별 기초 연구를 토대로 한국어문화 교육의 블록화[권역화]를 하고, 블록별 거점 지역을 설정하여 거점 지역을 중심으로 한국어와 한국 문화 교육 방안을 모색해야 한다. 셋째, 해당 국가 혹은 해당 블록에 특화된 전문가 양성 프로그램의 개발이 필요하다. 넷째, 한류와의 연관성 속에서 한국어 교육 방안을 모색해야 한다. This thesis aims to research the phase of Korean wave and Korean education in New Northern Areas, and then propose to implement for Korean education in this regions. Each countries are different from the diffusion of Korean education and the influence of Korean wave’s in New Northern Areas. But this thesis sets up three groups according to the influence of Korean wave and so on. This thesis propose implements for Korean education in New Northern Areas. First, basic research should be activated for in the New Northern Areas. Second, It is necessary grouping several areas in New Northern Areas for Korean education according to the regional characteristics by basic research. And then establish the hub of Korean education of each areas. Third, it is necessary educational programs for foreign teachers specializing in each area or country. The forth, It is necessary creative teaching methods connecting with Korean wave.
