지역 특산물을 활용한 관광자원화 연구: 제주 해산물 지불의도의 결정요인

Food is considered one of the important factors among many tourist resources as it creates an image of tourism and induces tourists to visit again who are satisfied with the food. In terms of tourism, the importance of food experiences and visits to restaurants is increasing. Therefore, this study selected Jeju Island, Korea's leading tourist destination, as the research site. The purpose of the study was to explore the determinants of Jeju seafood's willingness to pay, noting that although Jeju Island's seafood was an important tourist resource, research conducted in this area was somewhat insufficient. The candidates to account for willingness to pay are price fairness, amount, poor sanitation, and healthiness. This study executed data collection for Koreans at Jeju Airport for 3 days from November 25 to 27, 2019. The total number of data used in the analysis is 252. Research hypotheses were tested using multiple linear regression. The results appears that willingness to pay is positively influenced by price fairness, amount, and healthiness. However, willingness to pay is negatively affected by poor sanitation. In terms of the control variables, consumers with higher monthly household income have higher willingness to pay for seafood. This study investigated the willingness of tourists to pay for seafood in Jeju Island to turn local specialties into tourism resources. Given the results, this research presents the implication to enhance the quality of Jeju seafood to develop tourism resources.

제주도 해산물의 지불의도에 대한 선행요인들에 관한 탐구

Seafood is an essential element in the sea village tour. Hence, this study is to examine the antecedents of willingness to pay for seafood. The research area of this study is Jeju island. As the candidates of antecedents, this research uses price fairness, waiting, accessibility, and positive emotion. This research implemented field survey at Jeju airport, The number of observation is 252. This study performs statistical analysis to attain the results, and these are frequency analysis, correlation matrix, exploratory factor analysis, reliability test, and multiple regression analysis. The results indicate that price fairness is positively associated with the willingness to pay. Also, the results show that willingness to pay is positively influenced by accessibility and positive emotion. However, waiting time appears as non-significant attribute to account for willingness to pay. Also, this study provides Jeju seafood product managers with the information which can be used to achieve more sales.

해산물에 대한 지불의도에 대한 연구: 제주도 사례를 중심으로

해안 지역 관광에 있어서 음식의 소비는 하나의 중요한 영역으로 볼 수 있지만 해산물 소비에 대한 소비자들의 인식을 탐구한 연구는 다소 미미하게 진행되었다고 할 수 있다. 이러한 측면을 보완하기 위하여, 본 연구는 제주 해산물 소비자들의 지불의도에 영향을 미치는 변수에 대한 탐구를 하는 것을 주된 목적으로 한다. 지불의도를 설명하기 위한 요인으로 본 연구는 가격공정성, 위험, 혼잡도, 상품 다양성을 주된 요인으로 이용하여 연구를 수행하였다. 본 연구는 설문을 주된 수단으로 이용하였다. 자료 수집을 위하여 본 연구는 제주공항에서 관광객들을 대상으로 직접 설문 조사를 실시하였으며 252부의 설문을 자료 분석에 이용하였다. 본 연구는 빈도분석, 탐색적 요인 분석 및 신뢰도 검증, 상관관계 분석 및 다중회귀분석을 이용하여 제시된 가설을 검증하고자 하였다. 연구결과를 살펴보면, 제주도 해산물 지불의도에 있어서 가격공정성과 상품다양성은 긍정적인 영향을 미치는 요인으로 나타난 반면, 적절한 수준의 혼잡도는 지불의도를 극대화 시키는데 도움을 주는 요인으로 판명되었다. 즉, 혼잡도와 지불의도는 역U자 모양의 관계를 갖는 요인으로 나타났다. 하지만, 분석 결과는 위험은 소비자들의 제주 해산물 지불의도에 영향을 미치지 않는 요인으로 나타났다. 본 연구의 결과는 제주해산물 판매자들에게 경영관련 정보를 제공할 수 있다는 측면에서 실무적 시사점을 갖는다. Despite the importance of seafood in the domain of marine tourism, scant studies have investigated the characteristics of seafood consumers. In order to affiliate this void, this research is to investigate the determinants of sea food willingness to pay in the area of Jeju island. As the candidates of explanatory variables, this research employees price fairness, risk, diversity, and crowding. The main instrument of this research is survey. Also, this study performed field survey at Jeju airport. Then, this study used 252 observations for the data analysis. To analyze the data, this study carried out frequency analysis, exploratory factor analysis, reliability test, correlation analysis, and multiple regression analysis. Regarding the results, price fairness and diversity positively affects the willingness to pay. Also, the results presents that the adequate level of crowding maximizes the willingness to pay. Namely, there is an inverted U-shape association between crowding and willingness to pay. However, risk is identified as non-significant attribute to account for willingness to pay. The results of this research could offer the information for the management of seafood. This could become the practical implication of this research.

공존의 신념으로서의 제주 잠수들의 속신

이 글은 역사적, 지리적, 그리고 사회문화적으로 독특한 경험을 공유해온 제주 잠수들을 대상으로, 잠수 사회의 속신의 의미를 밝히고 소멸되거나 혹은 지속되는 속신과 그 이유를 살펴보는 것을 목적으로 한다. 기존의 속신 연구는 대체로 속신을 민간 신앙적 혹은 규범적 구비 단문인 언어적 구조물로 보거나 속신의 신앙적, 정신적 측면을 주목해 해당 사회의 문화적 맥락 속에서 총체적으로 살펴보지 않은 것으로 생각된다. 필자는 이러한 문제의식을 바탕으로 속신을 민간 신앙적 언어 형태에 한정하지 않고 어떤 사회의 관념, 의례, 주물, 신앙주체, 언어적 표현이 통합된 문화 현상으로 바라보고자 한다. 제주 잠수의 경우 오랜 동안 반농반어의 생업 구조 속에서 나름의 공동체를 형성해 왔기에 이들의 속신은 의례나 관념, 주술(주물), 그리고 언어적 표현이 함께 얽혀 구성된 것임을 보여준다. 1970년대 이래 잠수 사회는 고무잠수복과 스티로폼 테왁의 등장, 상수도관 설치, 탈의장 및 해녀의 집 설립 등 많은 변화를 겪어 왔다. 그런데 이러한 변화 속에서도 지속되는 속신들이 있는 반면 무시되거나 ‘폐기’되는 속신들이 있다. 전자는 잠수들의 사회 안에서 관련 의례와 관념 및 언어적 표현으로 탄탄히 묶여 ‘실천’되어 온 것들이며 그 바탕에는 바다에 대한 경외심과 물엣것 및 동료 잠수들과의 공존의 가치가 담겨 있다. 후자는 관련 의례나 특정 관념이 (현재 시점에서) 없으며 변화하는 잠수 사회에 탄력적으로 부응할 수 없는 것들이다. 결국 제주 잠수들은 자신들의 물질 작업의 여러 변화들에 대응하지 못하는 속신들은 선택하지 않고 무시하거나 폐기하고 있다고 말할 수 있다. 한편 잠수들의 속신 중 오랜 믿음을 바탕으로 아직도 강하게 지켜지고 있는 것은 용왕과 거북에 대한 신앙 및 의례와 관련된 것들이다. 이러한 속신은 용왕이 잠수들을 고루 보살핀다는 믿음과 거북의례, 요왕맞이, 지드림, 영등굿 등 의례 속에서 지켜지고 있으며 잠수들에게 공존을 위한 행위 규범 혹은 원리로 작용하고 있다고 생각된다. The folk belief has been studied focused on linguistic structure and pattern but with less consideration in the cultural context. This study explored folk beliefs of Jeju women diver, who have shared distinct communities historically, geographically, and culturally. I study folk belief of Jeju women diver as an integrated cultural phenomenon which formed with ritual, casting, religious subjects, and verbal expression. Since 1970, the Jeju women diver society has experienced drastic changes in their working environments and societal supports such as rubber wetsuit, styrofoam tewak, water installation, dressing room, and diver’s house. Despite these changes, some of their folk belief are continuously observed but others are discarded or forgotten. The former has practised with related ritual, notion, and verbal expression in women diver community and based on awe on the sea, the conviction of coexistence for sea creatures and women diver. The latter can’t be flexibly applicable to the change of women diver society and has no special ritual and beliefs. In conclusion, it could be told Jeju women divers has not chosen or ignored or discard that their belies and folk science that cant’be engaged their work ‘muljil’ and its change. By the way, the beliefs of dragon king and turtle which is believed as the youngest daughter of dragon king are still strongly worshiped by the Jeju women divers. With the notion that dragon king takes care of women divers and fishers, they still continue the ritual turtle, the rite of welcoming dragon king, jidrim, and youngdeunggut. Many of their folk beliefs are considered as working rules or principles for the coexistence of sea, sea creatures and women diver community.
