새로운 Chung’s equation-IX에 의한 연소성 물질의 화재 위험성 등급 평가

연소성 물질의 화재위험성 평가를 하기 위해 Chung’s equations-VII, Chung’s equations-VIII, 그리고 Chung’s equation-IX을 새로 정립하였다. 화재위험성지수-IX (fire risk index-IX, FRI-IX)와 화재위험성등급(fire risk rating, FRR)을 산정하였다. 시험편은 은행나무, 메타세콰이어, 참죽나무, 피나무, 호두나무를 선택하였다. 콘칼로리미터(ISO 5660-1)를 사용하여 시험편에 대한 연소 특성을 시험하였다. 연소 종료 후 Chung’s equations에 의해 산정된 화재성능지수-VII (fire performance index-VII, FPI-VII)는 15.15~182.53 s<sup>2</sup>/kW로 나타났고, 화재성장지수-VII (fire growth index-VII, FGI-VII)는 0.0023~0.0165 kW/s<sup>2</sup>로 나타났다. Polymethylmethacrylate (PMMA)를 기준으로 한 화재성능지수-VIII (FPI-VIII)는 0.29~3.45로 나타났고, 화재성장지수-VIII (FGI-VIII)는 2.88~20.63로 나타났다. 화재위험성 등급인 화재위험성지수-IX (FRI-IX)는 메타세콰이어가 71.14 (화재위험성등급: G)로 화재위험성이 매우 높은 목재로 나타났다. 그러므로 휘발성 유기 화합물을 다량 함유하고, 체적밀도가 낮은 목재는 FPI-VII와 FPI-VIII가 낮아지고, FGI-VII와 FGI-VIII가 높아짐에 의하여 FRI-IX가 높은 값을 나타내었다. To evaluate the fire risk of combustible materials, Chung's equations VII, VIII, and IX were newly established. The fire risk index-IX (FRI-IX) and fire risk rating (FRR) were calculated. Ginkgo, dawn redwood, toona, lime, walnut, and poly-methylmethacrylate (PMMA) were selected as test specimens. The combustion characteristics were evaluated using a cone calorimeter according to ISO 5660-1. After combustion, the fire performance index-VII (FPI-VII) of the specimens, varied between 15.15 and 182.53 s<sup>2</sup>/kW, as determined by Chung's equations, and the fire growth index-VII (FGI-VII) varied between 0.0023 and 0.0165 kW/s<sup>2</sup>. The fire performance index-VIII (FPI-VIII) based on PMMA varied between 0.29 and 3.45, and the fire growth index-VIII (FGI-VIII) varied between 2.88 and 20.63. The FRI-IX, which is the fire risk rating, showed dawn redwood has a very high fire risk, with FRI-IX values of 71.14 (fire risk rating: G). Therefore, wood with a large amount of volatile organic compounds and a low bulk density showed a high value of FRI-IX by lowering FPI-VII and FPI-VIII and increasing FGI-VII and FGI-VIII.

연소성 물질의 화재위험성 평가를 하기 위하여 Chung’s equations-X, Chung’s equations-XI, 그리고 Chung’s equation-XII를 새로 정립하였다. 화재위험성지수-XII (fire risk index-XII, FRI-XII)와 화재위험성등급(fire risk rating, FRR)을 산정하였다. 시험편은 녹나무, 벚나무, 고무나무, 느릅나무를 선택하였다. 콘칼로리미터(ISO 5660-1)를 사용하여 시험편에 대한 연소 특성을 시험하였다. Chung’s equations에 의해 산정된 화재성능지수-X (fire performance index-X, FPI-X)과 화재성장지수-X (fire growth index-X, FGI-X)은 각각 89.34~1696.75 s2/kW와 0.0006~0.0107 kW/s2로 나타났다. 또한 화재성능지수-XI (fire performance index-XI, FPI-XI)과 화재성장지수-XI (fire growth index-XI, FGI-XI)은 각각 0.08~1.48과 0.67~11.89으로 나타났다. 화재위험성 등급인 화재위험성지수-XII (FRI-XII)는 녹나무가 148.63 (화재위험성등급: G)으로 화재위험성이 매우 높은 목재로 나타났다. 그러므로 휘발성 유기 화합물을 다량 함유하고 있는 연소성 물질은 FPI-X과 FPI-XI이 낮아지고, FGI-X과 FGI-XI이 높아짐에 의하여 FRI-XII가 높은 값을 나타내었다. The evaluation of fire risk for combustible materials was carried out using Chung’s equations-X, Chung’s equations-XI, and Chung’s equation-XII, which were newly established. The fire risk index-XII (FRI-XII) and fire risk rating (FRR) were calculated for specimens including camphor tree, cherry, rubber tree, and elm. The combustion characteristics were determined using a cone calorimeter according to ISO 5660-1. Chung’s equations caculated the fire performance index-X (FPI-X) and fire growth index-X (FGI-X) values ranged from 89.34 to 1696.75 s<sup>2</sup>/kW and from 0.0006 to 0.0107 kW/s<sup>2</sup>, respectively. In addition, the fire performance index-XI (FPI-XI) and fire growth index-XI (FGI-XI) varied from 0.08 to 1.48 and from 0.67 to 11.89, respectively. The fire risk index-XII (FRI-XII), which is an indicator of fire risk, showed that camphor tree had a value of 148.63 (fire risk rating: G), indicating a very high fire risk. This suggests that combustible materials with a high concentration of volatile organic compounds have lower FPI-X and FPI-XI values, higher FGI-X and FGI-XI values, and consequently higher FRI-XII values, indicating an increased fire risk.

Chung’s Equation-XII에 의한 목재 5종의 화재위험성 지수 및 화재위험성 등급 평가

5종의 목재에 대한 화재위험성 지수 및 화재위험성 등급을 평가하고자 Chung’s equations-X, Chung’s equations-XI, 그리고 Chung’s equation-XII를 적용하였다. 화재위험성지수-XII (FRI-XII) 및 화재위험성등급(FRR)을 예측하였다. 시험편은 은행나무, 메타세콰이어 나무, 참죽나무, 피나무, 호두나무를 사용하였다. 연소 특성 시험은 콘칼로리미터(ISO 5660-1)를 선택하여 사용하였다. Chung’s equations에 의해 예측된 화재성능지수-X (FPI-X)과 화재성장지수-X (FGI-X)은 각각 560.59∼2689.89 s2/kW와 0.0005∼0.0016 kW/s2로 나타내었다. 또한 화재성능지수-XI (FPI-XI)과 화재성장지수-XI (FGI-XI)은 각각 0.49∼2.35와 1.67∼5.33이었다. 화재위험성 등급인 화재위험성지수-XII (FRI-XII)는 메타세콰이어나무와 은행나무가 각각 10.88 (화재위험성 등급: F), 10.25 (화재위험성 등급: F)으로서 매우 높은 화재위험성을 나타내었다. 결론적으로 FRI-XII가 높다는 것은 FPI-X과 FPI-XI이 낮게되고, FGI-X과 FGI-XI이 높게됨을 의미한다. Chung's equations-X, -XII, and -XII were applied to evaluate the fire risk index (FRI) and fire risk rating (FRR) of five wood species. The test specimens used were ginkgo tree, dawn redwood tree, toona tree, lime tree, and walnut tree. A cone calorimeter (ISO 5660-1) was selected and used to test the combustion characteristics of the specimens. The fire performance index-X (FPI-X) and fire growth index-X (FGI-X) calculated using Chung’s equations ranged from 560.59 to 2689.89 s²/kW and from 0.0005 to 0.0016 kW/s², respectively. Furthermore, the FPI-XI and FGI-XI varied from 0.49 to 2.35 and from 1.67 to 5.33, respectively. FRI-XII, a FRR, showed that the fire risks of dawn redwood tree and ginkgo tree, at 10.88 (FRR: F) and 10.25 (FRR: F), respectively, were very high. In conclusion, a high FRI-XII value indicates that FPI-X and FPI-XI are low whereas FGI-X and FGI-XI are high.
